That's very nice Oldsmobile! I haven't seen too many of them built as Police Cars, yours is good exception between those hundreds of Oldsmobile Customs (which are cool too). Nice and clean, nice paint job too.

Buddy Baker Dodge Charger
W-409 replied to shafer's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Wow, that's very nicely done Charger! I like the paint job. Those handpainted graphics.... WOW! I bet that I would have caused a big mess if I were trying to paint them, you sure have steady hands! Nice looking build overall. -
Nice! I've always liked Mercury Cougars, you've made it a justice! Great looking paint job and nice BMF. Engine bay looks good too. Keep them coming, I always like to see your excellent handywork.

Nice to see progress on this one! I like where this is heading, and for the rear tires, if you're going to make it a Drag Racer, those narrow 9" Slicks do have enough traction if the chassis is built correctly, in 1:1 world, I guess. And if it's a Street Car, it could be in Linna Cruising's Burnout Contest with narrow tires and steelies.

Thanks, Adam And Nick for the kind words about my Chrysler-build! I'm working on small details now, so no updates yet. I had to repaint the hood, too, it's in primer now so today I will spray some white on it. The engine bay needs a few parts and it's done, then I can put the grille, lights etc. on place and call it done. It looks like I'm going to make it!

Strange, but I haven't had any problems with posting. Sometimes the site loads S-L-O-W-L-Y, but usually not. One I got that SQL Error, too. But really there has been nothing special in my computer.

NEW REVELL '29/ OLD AMT '29 mashup, Nov.8, buggy spring mods
W-409 replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nice project, as always! I like the look already, this'll turn out fantastic, I guess! Where is the Nailhead engine from, that's something I'd like to have in Hot Rod too. -
The Intake Manifold and Throttle Body for my '66 Mustang Pro Mod project. Built from Styrene tubing and sheet styrene. The Scoop for my '59 Simca Gasser, scratchbuilt from sheet styrene. Otherwise the engine is NOT scratchbuilt. The Pro Charger and its pipings are scratchbuilt from Solder and plastic (Plastic is used for those welding-seams). Also the headers are scratchbuilt from solder. That engine will be in Fox Mustang. And the Hood for this Junkyard Mustang is scratchbuilt from Aluminium and crashed.

Very Nice Barn Find Willys! I like the weathering, it looks excellent to me and very realistic too. Nice idea of it having only engine block, too, but the Cylinder Head doesn't look very realistic. It's easy to make some upgrades to those Cylinder Heads, I made valve springs and rocker arms (?) on mine few years back, and it looked much better than that AMT? Part. Overall it looks excellent!

Red, Blue and Orange are very good colors for this body style of Nova. Yellow isn't bad either, like this Finnish Nova. Anyways I painted mine orange: Yours look Very nice in Primer! Can't wait for more.

Hey, Thanks Rob! I'm very happy about the paint job too, maybe my best one so far. These Maston spray-paints are good stuff for polishing too, they turn out shiny and smooth. I bought my Polishing kit from Model Car Import which is here in Finland. Looks like it can be bought from here, too. http://micro-surface.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=188_189&products_id=75 Of course there are other polishing kits too, but this one works very well for me. And yet another update, the last one for today I promise. I won't tease you anymore. ...Until tomorrow or Tuesday. So I got the body on the chassis. It was overall quite easy job to do, but the firewall wasn't easy to get right. It was too wide to install when chassis was in correct place when looking the front-back position. I had to pull the chassis back, so the firewall's Blower motor and that Brake component could pass the inner fenders, then pull the chassis in correct position. But when you're careful, nothing will broke. Here are few (Bad) pictures.
-
Another Update, now it's coming along fast! I got the chassis ready to be installed under the body. Firewall is painted white and black. I painted the wiring too, not fun to do but looks Okay after it was installed. Also painted the molded in wires from driver's side inner fender. Horrible job to do, too. Why those need to be always molded in? Windows are installed too. The windshield fits really nicely, but rear-glass doesn't fit so well. There's a gap on the up-or down of the glass.

Mid 80's Chevrolet Long-Box
W-409 replied to gautreau's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very nice work! I always like following these "Out Of The Box" type of projects... Your Long-Bed looks excellent, nice conversion. Paint will be very tricky job, but I guess you'll make it. Are you going to go with those wheels, they look quite different than those 1:1 wheels, or does that 1:1 Pickup have normally that kind of wheels that you have under this one? -
Heh, Thanks Matthew! I used this Polishing kit (Picture below) and polished up to 8000 grit, after that I waxed the paint job and that's the result. It makes some nice paint jobs and it's quite easy too. Even I managed to get nice paint jobs with a little practising! Your 'Vette looks very good too!

That's nicely done Cuda Funny Car! Nice paint and detailing on it, very cleanly built too. I mean that parts fit nicely to each other and that kind of basic stuff, which sometimes causes trouble to me.
-
I haven't painted many cars black, since it's very hard color to get right. I have few Black cars on the works now, but these three are already finished. Matt Black '32 Ford Rat Roadster. Sectioned & Channeled, windshield frame scratchbuilt and chopped, smoothed, etc etc. MPC SnapTite '50 Mercury. Box Stock except for the tires. And then Arii's 1/32 Scale Prince Gloria Mild Custom. I lowered it as much as possible without huge modifications, still it's bit too high.
-
Looks great! Nice Idea and very well done build, too. Especially I like the color, well red of course, but the shade of it is perfect. Nice, clean build. If it doesn't fly, then I hope you have Snow-Chains for the tires.
-
That turned out great! I enjoyed alot to see it come together, and the end result is impressive. Your decaling job turned out very well, details are very sharp too. I like those seperate body panels, too.
-
BMF Is applied to the body now! It came out Okay, could be better and not my bests, but still it looks decent. I also painted those 300C badges from those side trims. After taking pictures, I painted the body from underside. Firewall is painted, too. Tomorrow I will install the glass-parts to it.
-
What Paint is that , on the frame? It looks excellent shade of brown/silver. Excellent work, as always, Tyrone! I'm tuned in for more to come, your builds always impress me. And this body style is maybe the nicest Nova.
-
Also I got the interior finished. Of course first I had to put it back together after that little crash, then add some finishing touches, like rear view mirror and Tachometer. Once I get the body Foiled, painted from the underside, glasses installed, I can put these two components together, except that the Firewall is still missing. One More:
-
That's sad to hear, it was turning out so nice. Well, hopefully it'll come back even nicer-if possible. Not sure if I'm going to make it either, but I'm trying to. Today got the whole body polished, and I have to say that I'm pretty happy about the result. Now I will put some Bare Metal Foil on it, and hope to have another set of pictures still tonight.
-
Ouch, I was sure it was Model! It looked like one, so simple and smooth, that it just didn't look real. Also, there are so many chrome parts that it made me to say Model.

Glad it could help someone! Jim: The transparent paper should be easy to find, I guess most of the houses (At least in Finland) have that one. It's that paper, what's used when you put something to the oven, and what you put on the Baking tray. I guess every paper what is transparent, works well if it wont melt with the lights. Pat: Yeah, I'm still trying to get the camera setting right for the new booth, thanks for the help! Jacen: Yep, I've used that method for a long time too, but I've noticed that my Models look much worse in the pictures, as they are in real life. Maybe it's because of my camera, but that booth makes life much easier. Now I can take pictures with same settings every time, without any adjusting or fear that pictures look bad.

1/12 Top Fuel Motorcycle (Larry "Spiderman" McBride)
W-409 replied to ScrappyJ's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Well this is interesting! Didn't visit in your Fotki page, since I'd like to follow it in this topic. Excellent start with it, how fast these Top Fuel Bikes are in the USA? Here in Finland, Ian King drove 6,1 ET with his TF-Bike, here's my video of it. Peter Svensson has driven high 5's also, on 1/4 Mile in Sweden.
