You continue pulling these Cool Deals Wheels style builds out, they look excellent! I like the Muddy look, even if I'm not a fan of weathering. Excellent details all over too. These always bring a smile on my face, thank you for sharing these builds. Can't wait to see the Rocket Van finished.

Thanks, Lawrence! I will let him know.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of Formula 1. There's no race in Finland, so I've never seen it live, but from TV it looks very boring. Looks like pit stops and all kinds of different penalties make the end-result. Only thing what interests me A Little is that Kimi Räikkönen drove himself to 4th on Qualification. Drag Racing Is The Number One Motorsport and then there comes NASCAR.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this one, but if not, I'm sorry. A friend of mine would like to know if there's a model kit or resin conversion, body or anything from 1989 Ford Mustang. Maybe easy conversion-kits might interest too.

Enough Carburetors? I installed the Eight-Carburetor intake manifold and the carbs from AMT Double Dragster kit. Not really easy job to do, but I'm quite happy about the looks. I started the fuel lines too, next I have to make carburetor linkage, which will be huge job to do.

Very nice as always, Bruce! It came together very fast, but still you did very nice and clean job with it. Excellent paint and nice details. Very well done!

'32 Ford 5-window Dry Lakes Racer w/ Full Bellypan
W-409 replied to Bernard Kron's topic in Model Cars
I like it! That paint is great, and really like the color too. Nice job with the decaling too. Beautiful engine-combination and that red grille-plate is excellent idea. Looks period correct to me, excellent! -
What Super Glue is that ? I tried once, but the only tool which might have done something to my super glue would have been a Motor Saw or something like that, it was so hard stuff. Two component putties/bondos what are used to 1:1 cars, work very well on my builds. And the project looks very good! I like the scoop on the hood and supercharger looks great too. I can't wait to see more.

Thanks, Corey and Bruce! Here's some more. I got the trunk lid narrowed and glued to place. I'm planning to shave that whole trunk away, so there would be no panel lines there. Also, I found the engine basis, it's a Mopar and I guess it's Small Block. Not sure though. I've painted it that color few years ago, and it's going to stay in that color too. Now I've been building the engine bit more than the pictures show, I should have the update soon before I finish installing and connecting carburetor fuel lines.

Thanks. I try to paint all parts I need to complete a chassis, for example on one day. And on the next day, parts are dry and maybe I can paint other colors or details with silver (silver dries fast). Then when everything is dry: Ding, Ding, Ding, we can put it together. I took the classic One Step Forward And Two Steps Back. The One Step Forward is that I got the body clearcoated. I'm going to spray another coat of clear tomorrow and then I can wait it to dry and polish it out. Two Steps Back are, that I dropped the chassis. Or actually I didn't drop, but it somehow just slipped to floor from my bench. Luckily, only one part was broken (front spindle in three pieces) but many parts were gotten apart. It's coming together again, though. I should have pictures to show tomorrow.

Well that's cool! And the engine choice is just perfect ! Excellent look with steelies and Dog Dishes too, very nicely done build. The color reminds me of this one, '62 Bel Air Bubbletop with 414 Cid. Stroker engine (Stroked from 348 BBC). ...Located in Finland!

Yes, Jim. They are long distance away from their factories! Then Mikko Saarinen's Plymouth Cuda. Before he was driving Dodge Dart in Outlaw, but after crashing that one, he started to build Cuda. "Mikko Saarinen (Finland, Outlaw) bought the meeting to a dramatic close with a heavy crash into the temporary wall in the right hand side of the shutdown area, hooking in front of Timo Makela’s Javelin. The weight of the impact sent debris from Saarinen’s Dodge Dart far and wide, Makela damaging the side of his car in getting out of the way, and then, as silence descended, there was the surreal rumble of the concrete wall collapsing for over 100 metres down track. Amazingly, Saarinen was able to drive home that night, a testimony to the strength of the rollcage as there wasn’t much else of the car left intact." You can see that Timo Mäkelä sure had the cabin full of hands when trying not to hit anything in high speed. Not the best video, but the only one I could find.

Juha Räikkönen's Chevy Cobalt with 500 Cid. Pro Stock engine. Best ET is around 7,1 seconds, and he won the Finnish Championchip this year. Tero Laukkanen's Mustang with TwinTurbos and 520 Cubic Inches. It goes 7,1's, but he was driving Pro Modified license with that car, too. There he went 6,6's so there is potential. Hannu Kalliomäki's Pontiac, bought from as Nitro Fish car and now it looks like this. He ran one 6,9 second pass, until the engine broke down.
-
Now the Fastest Finnish Championchip car category! Super Pro Street! This is group for Door Cars and the "Index" is 6,8 seconds. That time-range is maybe the biggest difference to Outlaw, and other one is that blown or turboed Methanol engines are allowed too. There are many very professional-type Teams and then some run with HomeMade cars, that's very cool in this group. Otherwise the rules are quite the same than in Outlaw. The 2012 season was the first for SPS, so all cars were not on track yet, next summer there should be more. Examples: Johan Gripenberg's Chevy Lumina runs with Small Block Chevy (!) and blower. This sounds mean. Then Hannu Mylläri's Dodge Avenger. This is with 377 Cid engine and one turbocharger. Best ET is around 7,0. Teemu Pekka's Chrysler LeBaron with Mopar 353 Cid. Engine and TwinTurbo setup. It has been going 7,2's if I remember correctly.

Very cool build! I'll be following for sure. Reminds me of this One:

Thanks, Corey! I got some more done with it, started making the chassis. I know the frame rails are quite heavy stuff as you saw in the last picture, but that's the way I like it, bigger car, bigger frame, right? Started the floor too, it's sheet styrene and still taking shape, actually this project is still in rough stages. The driveshaft tunnel will be fabricated when I decide, what engine I'll use. Also, here is the next victim: The Trunk Lid:

Yeah this one is very nice! I like the paint job alot, as in your builds always. Excellent details too, all those Starliner textes etc. look very sharp. Excellent build as always.

Very Nice and Old School style build! Makes me wanting to get mine on the bench... Yeah, anyway, nice to see Chevy Smallblock installed in Fiat Altered too, nice detailing on it also. -

W-409 replied to tyrone's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Wow, that came out excellent! Your paint job is truly amazing, very smooth and shiny all around. Great detailing too, the engine, and actually whole chassis & Body looks like it could be from real thing. Very Nice one, can't wait to see how your Nova turns out. -
That's nice and not so usual subject. Nice clean job all around, gotta love these 70's Funny Cars.
-
Thanks, Ray! I got something done with the interior, door panels are foiled and assembled. It was real paint to get them Foiled nicely and they're not perfect, actually far away from it but they are good enough when installed. Also the dashboard is installed, it's painted white and black with brush. Seat belts are made too, only steering wheel, rear view mirror and tachometer are missing. EDIT: Very nice job with the Ford too, Rob! Decals look fantastic on that one.
-
Very nice build, as always, Tyrone! I like that body style very much and your building talents are fantastic, so I'm sure it'll be excellent build. I like that roll cage you've done and nice job with the rear fenders too.
-
That's very cool! When Drag Racing with these, are Wheelie Bars a must thing, in car with long frame too, as this one? Very nice one!
-
Thanx Simon, Corey and Randy! And sorry about the delay, it has been collecting dust, but today I pulled it back, and here we go again. I added little styrene to the front end to get that firewall fit right. I did not narrow it from the center, because it would not be easy to sand those putties smooth there because it's not straight part, so I trimmed the sides to match body shapes. As you can see, there's still some need for styrene. I also started making the frame. Not much done yet, but it's coming slowly.... More coming Soon!

That's very clean and nice build. Even if this is very simple kit, looks like it can be built very nice. Paint looks good, and the overall cleanless on this one is great-no gaps between parts or anything.
