  1. Excellent work as always, John! All of those details really look great, and when this is Hot Rod with the hood removed, they will be more visible than in "normal" car. Very nice job!
  2. As you have maybe noticed, I can't build one model at a time. So here goes another Stock Eliminator Drag Car Project. I just bought Monogram '87 Buick GNX and this is the first version, I'm going to build from this kit. I have planned to do one Factory Stock GNX, one Bracket Racer and one Pro Sportsman GNX too, at some point since this car has really potential. Okay, this will be with the 6 cylinder Turbo engine, and it will run in G/SA with NHRA index of 12,00 seconds. As inspiration, I will use "Luppe" Luoso's '84 Buick Regal Stocker what raced here in Finland on late 80's. The kit is very nice, only thing I found bad, is that there are a lot of molded in wires on the engine bay. They need to be removed, and I will make new ones from aftermarket wire. This will be Stocker as it could be on the 80's. I'm going with Centerline style wheels and Good Year slicks. I don't have good front tires, those are the highest profile tires I found my spare parts boxes. Yes they are 50's whitewall tires, but I will modify them to real Frontrunners. Shouldn't be too hard. I had to do little work for the rear tires to get those wheels fit right. Engine block is also glued together, but I don't have any pictures of it right now. An Early Mockup: The stance is not 100% right in that picture, more important was to check tire sizes, front tires have to be little higher, otherwise everything looks pretty good to me.
  3. I had absolutely no idea about this one, didn't find anything from Google either. But I have to say that it's a shame to know what this one is.
  4. Looks Good! You do always great work and I like following your builds. Especially I like the Vega so far. Decals fit very nicely and paint job turned out nice over all. Can't wait to see more.
  5. Pekka Penttilä's Modified Stock '62 Dart "Police". It was found in 2009 after many years: I'll post more if I can find pictures.
  6. Arto Sulopuisto's Chevy Nova, in Super Stock. Nowadays Sulopuisto is driving Stock Eliminator with Pontiac Firebird, I've posted a picture of it earlier on this page. P-A Skinnars' Cuda. This runs in Modified Stock, it was close of Super Stock, basically the same but with minor differences. Peter Alm's Dodge Polara with 426 Max Wedge:
  7. Then Chevy Chevelle Wagon driven By Anna Kaisa Manninen. It did run in P/SA. And then Pasi Mikkonen's Firebird. Pictures are from 2006 season. It did run in B/FI, what's that?! But I do remember that this was Very good and fast car, and if I remember correctly, it ran faster than NHRA Record in 2006 or 2007, can't remember which year it was. One better picture, not mine: http://kuvia.1g.fi/kuvat/Tapahtumat+2006/AlastaroNitroNats/NitroNats-06-961.jpg Then Some Old Gold: Older pictures of Finnish Stockers, we had Lots of them in the 80's and 90's. And these pictures are NOT mine, I was not born then, but I've read all Finnish American Car Magazines etc. and here are some cars, I remember: Martti "Luppe" Luoso's Buick Grand National.
  8. Thanks for the interest! Yeah, sure, post pictures from Germany too! Do you have other Drag Strips than Hockenheim there? This year Hockenheim's track wasn't in perfect condition, but I can remember that at least Finnish TMFC Driver Jarmo Kuutniemi drove his record pass there. Here are some more Finnish Stockers & Super Stockers: First this Chevy Camaro driven by Asko Somppi in GT/CA (one of the sub-categories of Super Stock.) Then Jukka Johansson's Mercury Cougar Eliminator Stocker. I guess this is not the most common car in Stock Eliminator? You've seen this one already, but found cool picture of it, Tarmo Mikkola's Super Stock Camaro. Then Sami Toppari's AMC AMX Super Stocker...... This is one of the original SS AMX Drag Cars that were made for Drag Racing straight from the factory! http://ssamx.com/41.htm
  9. I guess I could post one picture of my Simca Gasser here, too. And: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65034
  10. Fantastic build, again! Not too crazy about the 1:1 car, but your model looks fantastic as always. Detail and paint job looks incredible.
  11. That's great, I like that body a lot too. With a combination of good chassis and this great body, this will be very nice build over all. I can't wait to see more, keep coming.
  12. Looking Good, Andy! I'm sure this one will turn out very nice, the engine looks fantastic already and I do like the chassis too. Keep it coming, I'll be following for sure. Just remember to paint those Gas Tank "Brackets" with different shade of silver, they give nice detailed touch to the chassis too. ;)
  13. WOW, that looks Fantastic! The stance is just right and it sure looks mean when there's not much chrome or silver parts. Can't wait to see it finished.
  14. Yeah, I guess I have to move to Model Roundup. It looks very good, but still it's a shame that Model Express is closing-it will be missed. That Model Empire USA looks good too, thanks. Never heard of it before.
  15. Okay, I might join in for this one, I have MANY stalled projects and I'd really like to finish them. The list of what I will be building in this thread, but don't hold your breath with these, they will take long time. -'56 Chevy Lead Sled -'34 Ford Pickup -RAMCHARGERS AA/Fuel Dragster -'32 Ford Bonneville Racer -'32 Ford Funny Car -'40 Ford Hot Rod That's it for now. I will post pictures of how they are looking now soon.
  16. Thanks for the Great comments! They're really appreciated! This was very fun build over all, and the car is very nice in 1:1 world, too. '68 Impala would be even better, but it's a shame that there are no new kits from that one, older kits are worth a lot of money. This build was hard to get look right in the pictures. The paint looked like satin in some pictures, some were blurry and sometimes the car was light blue and so on. Luckily I managed to get these pictures right. Thanks for the comments again!
  17. . Maybe the worst thing in Modeling, I've heard in many years time. Model Express is the one and only place overseas where I've bought kits. The customer service has been fantastic every time and they have amazing stuff for sale. Kits, aftermarket stuff, resin, decals and so on. Also they do have RARE kits, older kits........ There will not be an other one who says Terve and Kiitos when ordering kits and parts. Very sad news indeed. Now I gotta ask, is there any other place where I can buy older & newer kits, parts and aftermarket stuff at the same time? I mean that the shipping is very expensive, and it's cheaper to order more stuff from one place when you need to pay only one shipping instead of two (or three!) shippings. Maybe I have to start looking for new place for kits and parts. I know only Model Round Up and some resin shops... Any others?
  18. I've used Rochester carburetors from Revell Black Widow kit, they are maybe the easiest ones to get here in Finland. They're not 100% accurate, either, but much closer. In Revell '72 Olds kit, there should be correct Rochester carburetor, same thing with '86 Monte Carlo by Revell. I'm not sure about the Monte Carlo though, I have not seen one.
  19. This is cool, can't wait to see more of it! It looks like Gasser to me, if you want, there's a Gasser CBP, where we'd like to see also this kind of builds. Anyway, I'll be following, the stance is just right.
  20. Thanks for the paint-info, Corey! I'm thinking just what color I should paint my '71 Cuda Pro Stocker... I guess it will be Black, Orange or Red but I'm not sure yet. Your paint job turned out fantastic! Very shiny and very smooth. I like the wheels and tires, too. Those fit perfectly to this kind of Pro Street Car.
  21. '68 and '69 Cudas would be great, too. I would buy at least one of them for sure. But I'm really looking forward for this '70 Cuda. Maybe Factory Stock, or maybe Stock Eliminator Drag Racer, who knows, or maybe both.
  22. That's Another beautiful Chevy there! I really like the look of non-chromed Centerline wheels with that color combo.
  23. Looks Good! Also great to see one Chevy from your bench. I like the overall clean look on this one, paint is smooth and nice too. I like the details alot. Overall very clean build, and it's nice to see Factory Stock El Camino, instead of Pro Touring style build. Great Job.
  24. More Pictures....... And still Two More:
  25. I finished this one for a little less than week ago. It's built from AMT Impala kit, which is great quality over all. One of the best ones from AMT, I guess. The plan was to build Factory Stock car, as it came from the factory. Engine is Chevy Big Block 427 and the orange parts are painted with spray can. I've rarely spraypainted engines, but decided to try it with this. All other parts are painted by brush. It turned out okay, too. All parts are painted pretty much factory stock colors and I added some extra details, too. Interior is painted by brush and the color is from Revell Enamels. I added the seat belts with GM Belt buckles to front seats. The center console and dashboard are painted just like 1:1 car parts. The chassis is painted by spray cans too, but all axles and other smaller parts are brush painted, again. I added some extra details there too. The kit's tires were way too small, more like Lowrider size so I installed Monogram tires for this one. I had to do little modifications to get wheels fit too. Wheels are painted just like rear Rallye Wheels are. Body is painted by spray can too and cleared, polished and foiled of course. Only problem was when I tried to install completed body to completed chassis, it didn't fit at all. But with bottle of super glue, I managed to get it fit somehow. Overall the kit is very good quality, even if the body doesn't fit perfectly and tires are too small. Worth buying and building. Opinions welcomed, Good or Bad !
