Both are still WIP, but both should be finished this year. '55: '57:

This is very beautiful build, and I'm drooling again by this build. That paint job is amazing, as always in your builds. The overall clean look is beautiful too.

Ari Salo's Camaro: Teemu Kuikka's Volvo Amazon with 4 cylinder (?) engine and turbocharger: And Ari Remahl's Buick Grand National with Buick V6 and Turbo. You can see the index on the window. That's it for now, more coming later and then I will introduce next car category: SPET (Super Pro ET). There are many wild machines, stay tuned. All of those pictures are taken in Alastaro.

Yep, Drag Racing is really great Motorsport! I'd love to get on NHRA Drag Racing even on some day, too. Dave Smith: Yes, these are the only two that we have. We have some airports where are few races, but they are mostly West Coast StreetCup (smaller Drag Racing series on the west coast, which has four races on two airports). One Finnish Championchip Drag Race event is driven in airport too, but it's the only one. This year there were two races at Motopark, and three in Alastaro including the European Championchip Drag Racing event (Nitro Nationals). George: That's why I thought I would post this one. Heh. I'm going to tell few words about first car category: Sportsman & Pro ET (SET & PET) This is a group where you can drive almost everything between 9.00 and 19.99 seconds. So it's like racing with little lower budget. They drive bracket, qualification is done by Reaction Times and eliminator is normal bracket racing. Even if it might be group where you can drive with lower budget, it's not easy one to win. There are very good racers and cars there. This is good category for jumping to faster cars. Few examples of cars that drive SET & PET. Hannu Hellman's Chevy Corvette (This is a Street Legal car, if I remember correctly, but not very slow one.). Harri Kankare's Ford Mustang (you can also see the nose of Nissan Skyline, but can't remember the driver of it.) Mustangs best time is something like 11,8. Ted Helin's '66 Opel Rekord Gasser, my favorite from this group. Goes about 10,6 times. Ken Nyman's Chevelle. If I remember correctly, this goes 9 second times. Ville Lauhasmaa's Plymouth Savoy.

Nope, it's not a sauna. Sauna is so small building that it can't be seen in this picture, but it's close to that building, which is actually a place where you can wash cars, if I remember correctly... I try to find better picture of it, I've seen one, but can't remember where.

As some of you guys might have seen, I live here in the Northern Europe. Maybe someone thinks that there is no Drag Racing in Finland, but I'm glad to say that there is. We have FHRA (Finnish Hot Rodding Association) which puts together Drag Racing Finnish Championchip series year after year. Then we have smaller events, like West Coast Street Cup which is driven on airports... On the west coast! There are pretty many Drag Racing car categories, but of course not as much as you have there. We have two real Drag Strips, first one, Motopark was built in 1987 if I remember correctly: And then we have another Drag Strip, I can't remember when it was built, but I guess it was on the early 90's. On 2012 Drag Racing season, which is now over, we had six Finnish Championchip Drag Racing events, and one of them was also European Championchip Drag Racing events. We had Pro Stocks, Pro Mods, Top Fuels, etc. racing there, as of course Finnish Championchip car categories too. On this thread I will tell you about Drag Racing in Finland, and tell about the car categories, we drive here, and show examples of Finnish Drag Cars. It is more popular in here, than you have thought I guess.

Looking Great, Bill! This really is one of the best builds on this forum. That heat staining looks very realistic to me, it's just perfect. Good to hear that you have correct firing order, otherwise it wouldn't work so nicely when you get everything mounted and all liquids like water and oils inside the engine.

-* Thin-Stripe Whitewall Tyres ?
W-409 replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thin Stripe white walls, yes! I would get one set of them right away. 60's and 70's Dragster tires, even bigger Yes! There can never be too many Drag Slicks. Also I'd like to see high profile tires with Good Year or Firestone letters, like normal 15" tires that came straight from the factory. Like these: -
Custom Phantom van is done !
W-409 replied to cobraman's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Turned out very nice, I don't see a reason to be disapointed. It looks very good to my eye, nice paint and like those colors too. -
I've been taking a little break from my Chrysler build, but I'm getting back to it later this week, when I don't have exams in the school anymore. Body is almost ready for primered and interior work needs to be started. Chassis is waiting for primering, too. So it's not forgotten and I will try to finish it by the deadline.

Lookin' good! The photoetch grille (and other photo etched parts too) is great "bonus". What kit is this? Monogram?

AMT 1958 Chevrolet Imapla (US FLAG DESIGN) - first try
W-409 replied to cobain86's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Well that's different and I like it. Very nice job with the paint, I can see no mistakes on it. Are you going to clearcoat or polish it, to me it would look even better like that, but of course it's very nice as it is now. I can't wait to see more. -
start em young!
W-409 replied to TheGrandfatherHobbies's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Heh, thanks Corey! I've built bit over 50 models now, and only the models that are completed in one or two - or maybe three years time period, are something that I'm happy about. Those older ones (maybe about 20 builds) are not too great quality, which is of course normal. This hobby is really great and I don't have problems that "There's nothing to do". Oh and have to say, that there are many talented young builders here in Finland, better than me. Maybe somebody thought that there's no Model Building in Finland, but that's not true. -
Cool GTO, the paint is oustanding! Your builds are always very nice to see, well detailed and they look good. This one belongs to that category, too.
-
Looks like Miss Deal Chassis can be converted to fit inside many cars! I'm currently building '59 Simca Vedette Gasser with that Miss Deal studebaker chassis. You did very nice job with this one, one of the best builds that I've seen from that Rat Packer Nova. Many times What If style builds are not my thing, but this is really nice.

'66 Mustang Pro Modified (Updated 10/16/2013)
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks guys! That saw is very handy-worth buying if you see one. Little update, I reworked a bit of that intake, it looks much better and fits nicely to the engine. I also built new throttle body from styrene. This is the second try, first one turned out horrible. This is not so great either, I might redo it but let's see how it looks when painted. Just wanted to post little update, so you can see that I'm building instead of eating chocolate. ' Also managed to get the camera working again-or at least I can take few pics with it, zoom isn't working and other little things, but mainly it works Okay... -
Oh yes, now I see the difference, the American is "bit" more massive.... Actually it looks better in model than in that picture, you posted.

Tamiya 1/12 scale ENZO with upcoming Scale Motorsport decal set
W-409 replied to David Thibodeau's topic in Model Cars
WOW!!! I've never been a huge fan of modern Ferraris, of course they are pretty nice (especially in 1:1), but this one is.... Wow, what else can I say?!?! That is fantastic work with carbon fiber, I can't see any wrinkles on them. I bet there would be a whole lot of them if I were the builder. You did fantastic job with this one. I have to pick my jaw from the floor now... -
Nice BMW! The paint, wheels, tires and the overall clean look are great. I like the clean engine bay, too. Maybe a stupid question, but what's the difference between these American bumbers, and "Normal" bumbers?

start em young!
W-409 replied to TheGrandfatherHobbies's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's the way, Bill. I remember, I started as six years old little boy, first kit was '60 Starliner. Now, about nine years later, I'm still building and haven't had any breaks on building. I managed to get my father back in the hobby too, his latest completed builds were done on the 90's, but now he has completed already a few builds, and more to come. I also managed to get my little sister in building models, she's 12 years old now, and building Revell's new '60 Impala. Of course for Factory Stock look without those ugly big wheels what come with the kit. It's fun to build together with someone. -
Oh - in that case there should be no problems. I've always painted the distributor first and then drilled nine holes for it (yep, one for the ignition coil, if someone is wondering, why). Just because if I paint it after I've drilled the holes, they may be filled with paint. I'm sure your Grandpa will be very happy about that, since it turned out great.
-
I use the hood pins that are available here in Finland. Luckily we have one excellent shop what has all kinds of aftermarket goodies. These are made by Scale Dreams, and they do look good.
-
Of course you do what you want, but since you're already completed it once, I would not take the engine out and add wires, so you don't break anything. I know, even if I'm trying to get parts very carefully off sometimes, I do break something. I'm not saying that you would break anything, BUT it's always possible. Just a thought. Nice job with the GTO all in all. Pictures could be little sharper, but otherwise I can't see a reason to complaine.

Moebius / Model King Marshall Teague 1952 Hudson kit
W-409 replied to S. Svendsen's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Here it is, and it looks GREAT!!! I'm really amazed by the quality of these parts, instructions, etc! I'm going to make mine as the Late-Season Version. Here are pictures about what's in the box, in case someone hasn't seen pictures about those parts already.http://s1038.photobucket.com/albums/a463/VintageDragRace/52%20Marshall%20Teague%20Fabulous%20Hudson%20Hornet/ Thanks Moebius Models of ANOTHER very beautiful Model Kit!!!
