Scratch build challenge entry IR Suspension pics 10/2
W-409 replied to Randy D's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This is spectacular work, Randy! Sometimes I have problems when scratchbuilding a little "T-Fitting" to brake lines, or something like that and then you're scratchbuilding everything. Absolutely fantastic work. -
Lakes-style Chopped Deuce 5-window - Completed
W-409 replied to Bernard Kron's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looking very good already! I like the Chop Top a lot, it's just low enough, but not too low. Sounds very interesting. Did all, or at least most of the Bonneville Racers have a Belly Pan? I'm just thinking if I have to make one for my '32 3W Coupe, which will be another Bonneville Racer. And another question, what do you do to your pictures? They look fantastic. -
Great Detailing! The engine looks very realistic to me. Looks like all little things are on their place. I can't wait to see more.

A "Rivet Counter" speaks up!
W-409 replied to MrObsessive's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just read through the first page. Haven't read the second page yet, but few thoughts came into my mind. Someone pointed out the Monogram '69 Camaro. I agree, the body looks incorrect. It's not the best kit when looking at the interior, chassis and engine, but the body looks really odd. I'm building one currently, but it's coming slowly-just because of that. To me, scale accuracy is, well of course, important. I'm trying to build as good models as I can, and I think that many times, little things make the model "Pop Out". Sometimes I like building fast builds, between more serious projects. I don't like to do corrections to the body, if it's even close, but especially for engines, interiors and chassis parts, I do those corrections if I see that there's a need for them. I don't like major body work, and if the body looks good already even if it's not perfect, is many times "good enough". But it depends. If you count me into Rivet Counter's group, count me in, and then I'm a rivet counter & proud of it. -
Thanks, TJ! I love Altered WheelBase Cars (That's why I put together Gasser & AWB Community Build on this forum ). And I'm going to move the rear axle a bit forward, but my car will not have rear wheel openings on the body, the rear tires will be outside the bodyline, just like in "real" Hot Rod. This will not be Traditional HotRod or any other building style vehicle. I just want to say that all opinions and ideas etc. are appreciated, and very welcome! If you have some thoughts or if you can see that I'm doing something wrong here, just let me know, all opinions are appreciated and welcome. More coming soon...

Revell / Monogram '32 ford kits
W-409 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's the '32 Ford 5W Coupé. I prefer Five Window Coupe than Three Window, and that kit has Hemi engine plus some other very nice HotRod parts, like the Big 'n' Little type tires and steel wheels. I like the other variations too, but that's the best. -
'66 Mustang Pro Modified (Updated 10/16/2013)
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks For The Comments Fellas! Progress has been very slow, now I have a bunch of exams in the school, starting from Friday. But I managed to do some work today with the intake manifold, it's pretty much done. Needs some sanding and little finishing, but the basic "look" is done. I built the manifold from 1 millimeter thick styrene sheet and styrene tubing. Right now I think that it would have been much easier to do it from brass. I don't know if I'm building another one in the future, which would be better than this. Let's see if I can make this look better with paint and some finishing. Some pictures. Not the best quality, because I managed to break my camera some how (Again!). These are taken with my Video Camera, which doesn't take as good "Still pictures" as my normal camera does. -
Here we go again, little more work done. I removed rear wheel openings from the body using styrene. I've also started building the firewall-area, but more on that later when I get some more done. My camera is broken, and these pics are taken with my video camera, which don't take as good "still pictures" as normal camera does.

Roger Lindamood`s "Color me Gone" 68 Charger
W-409 replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Your builds are always fantastic and very inspiring. This one belongs to the same category. Paint, detail, parts fit etc. look absolutely fantastic. -
Nice builds, the Double Dragster kit is great, even if it doesn't go as well together as some newer tooling kits. But the subjects are cool, and all parts are Nostalgic, which is really good. I like all of them, but especially that Altered with '32 (?) Ford body fits to my eye.
-
Fantastic Build, Darryl! I like the paint job on it. Overall look is great, those tires and everything fit nicely to Nova body. Especially I like the driver's side side window, which is half opened.

How to stop model building burn out?
W-409 replied to greymack's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I find myself from the Drag Racing Models section of this forum, all of the great builds there (just like the Army Vega FC and John Teresi's Daytona PM). After few minutes of looking those outstanding builds, I'm already running back to the bench! -
This is great looking Datsun! Wheels look bit too shiny, but otherwise I really like it. Nice paint and great decals. I like the stance too.
-
Oh, I would have known this one, but somehow I managed to miss it. Well, next time better.

Phantom van custom
W-409 replied to cobraman's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
This is going to be cool! Lots of work, but I'm sure you will do great job with this one. Start looks good already, actually I like the look of Sectioned Van. -
1941 Mack EHT with 24' Tanker trailer
W-409 replied to traditional's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
You always manage to amaze me, this is another very nice build... And Traditional Truck & Trailer combination, which is always very cool. -
Nascar Kits
W-409 replied to hooterville75's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
I thought that there are not so many NASCAR kits before I visited Daytona Racing Souvenirs & Hobbies right next to the Daytona Speedway. There were maybe hundred(s) of different NASCAR kits. I was in trouble: Which one to buy. Oh and I'm really NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan, it's a shame that we don't have NASCAR here in Finland. -
'73 Chevrolet Chevelle- Mastered by Tom Ellifritt
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hey Kevin, thanks for the pics! I've been thinking of buying that kit, but now when we might see a Resin body of '74 Chevelle, I don't need it, actually. Looks like great kit, would be good basis for Stock '74 Chevelle body. -
Some kits that I'd like to see made with new tooling and lots of parts. They're not in correct order. -'74 Chevelle with Chevy 350 and 454 engines, build Stock or Drag versions. - '79 Buick Skyhawk with Chevy 350. This would be 2 in 1 kit also with some Street/Race parts. - '73 Chevrolet Vega 2 in 1. With pretty much same parts as the '79 Skyhawk. - '67 Chevrolet Chevelle Pro Street with STOCK tail light panel. - '67 Chevy Camaro. 2 In 1 kit with SBC and BBC engines. - '32 Plymouth Roadster Hot Rod, just like Art Russell Plymouth (which is located in Finland, nowadays.) There would be more, alot more but these are few that just came to my mind.

Thanks guys for the kind comments! Ronald, your build sounds interesting too. I don't say anything about the body corrections, since I'm not an Mopar Expert, though. Todd: It's going to have 8/71 Blower with two Holley Dominators on it. More updates coming out later. I've been away from the bench for few days now, but I'm trying to get back building this one soon. Needs to do some more work for the chassis and interior, and of course look for engine parts.
-
I remember that a friend of mine had that kit some years ago, and it turned out into cool Gasser. Your start looks good. Are there two different bodies included in the kit, can't remember?

Hey Harry, how about this idea?
W-409 replied to meaneyme's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sounds like great idea! We have many forum members here that I'd like to read more. Agreed, we have that kind of "column" in our Finnish magazine, which is for FCMA (Finnish Car Modelers Association) members, and it works fine. Of course our Magazine is much smaller than MCM is, but I like it. -
'66 Mustang Pro Modified (Updated 10/16/2013)
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks for the comments everyone! Bart: I know I'm fan of "Home made, metal bodied DoorSlammers", and that's why I'm not making bigger body modifications for this one. I will convert hood and fenders to one bigger "fiberglass" part, like Flip Nose, but otherwise I'll keep the body Stock. Maybe it's bit unusual, but the way I like it. Here's one example: http://kuvia.1g.fi/kuvat/Tapahtumat+2012/FHRA/DefaFinals/Lauantai/MOP_9997.jpg Tyrone's Mustang looks awesome, as always! I'll shoot you a PM when I'm in trouble. Right now everything seems clear to me, but it will not take long time before I don't know what to do. Not much progress yet, I've started making the Turbochargers and intake manifold. Still bit more work needed, and then I can post an update. High school is slowing me down all the time, but I try to keep on workin'. -
"The Bug" dragster. Not a VW Done ! 9-22-12
W-409 replied to cobraman's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
It looks Great! You did very good job on this one, it really does look like new, bit updated version of The Bug. Great idea and very nicely done build. Needs to check out your new build too.
