AMT '62 Catalina 2 In 1 (the version which can be built into Passionate Poncho Super Stocker & Mild Custom) has very nice Chrome Reverse wheels, as some other nice Custom parts too.

Happy Birthday, Tyrone! I can't wait to see more. -

This is very nice Pickup, especially when it's bit higher than the factory stock. The lowered stance and those wheels doesn't fit into my mind, but it's very nicely done! Fantastic paint job and very clean overall look too. Just add the upper radiator hose and it's ready to be driven! -
Mopar cars that should be cast!
W-409 replied to Green Duster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd like to see '32 Plymouth Sport Roadster, Dodge Aspen and good quality kit of Plymouth Volare. -
I built the kit few years ago, and I remember that the parts fit was horrible. I can't remember many parts from that kit, what fit nicely to each other. Some parts, yes, fit nicely, but most of them didn't. The flip is excellent example. The "hinge" was not working at all, the flip nose didn't fit nicely to the body etc. But even if the kit was bad when looking at the parts fit etc, I find it still pretty interesting, and that kit has some good parts in it. I think it's not the worst kit, I've seen.

Amazing work with the chassis parts! I'm really amazed, scratchbuilt parts look much better than original kit parts look in many kits. I can't wait to see more. -
Christmas Came Early This Year ! At the same time, while ordering from ModelExpress (Thanks, Dennis!), I had to take four Gasser Front Wheels and one ProStock scoop.

'66 Mustang Pro Modified (Updated 10/16/2013)
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks for the kind comments, everyone! They're really appreciated. The problem with the manifold is that those flat parts on the sides, what are bolted to the cylinder heads, are made from styrene and they're not quite smooth. The problem is hard to see from picture, but it is really visible in real life. I'm going to make new ones from brass or a bit thicker styrene. Good thing is, that I don't have to take the whole manifold apart... So it shouldn't be too hard. Little update too, I started making the Flip Nose (or one piece fiberglass front end, what's a correct name for it in english?). I cut the front end with that very handy saw by Trumpeter, it does very nice and smooth cut and it doesn't take so much plastic with it, when sawing. Here are some pictures, I'll work on the throttle body tonight. -
Mopar cars that should be cast!
W-409 replied to Green Duster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The whole project started from somekind of 80's Lincoln Resin body by some American Resin body maker (can't remember which one), it was converted to Dodge Mirada and that one is built from the resin kit. That's what I remember reading from Finnish Modeling Magazine. -
Revell/GearZ contest prizes
W-409 replied to dimebolt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
....Oh and needs to take part to that contest next year. I thought it already this year, but I thought that the deadline was too short for a slow builder like me. But next year I have to try. Not completely because of the prizes, but that whole contest is actually really interesting. -

AirTrax has one cast in Resin. They're really great quality and it's mastered by Juha Airio. Here are few pictures of finished Mirada, it's built by Juha Airio too. -
Cool build! I've built this kit years ago too, and I remember that it wasn't the easiest one. You did nice job with assembling everything together nicely. I like the paint and decals too.

Lakes-style Chopped Deuce 5-window - Completed
W-409 replied to Bernard Kron's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks for the Belly Pan info & picture tutorial, Bernard! Needs to try what I can do with my photo shopping skills, since your pictures are so great, and they look Old School, and fit nicely to this kind of builds. -

Wow, That's Cool! Congratulations! -
Yep, it's rare engine in here. But there are a few cars with 409 engines, and they are great. It's absolutely one of my favorite engines, even the look of it is beautiful, but W-Blocks were great engines in Drag Racing on the early 60's. That's why I decided to hide my name behind the "W-409".

Scratch build challenge entry IR Suspension pics 10/2
W-409 replied to Randy D's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This is spectacular work, Randy! Sometimes I have problems when scratchbuilding a little "T-Fitting" to brake lines, or something like that and then you're scratchbuilding everything. Absolutely fantastic work. -

Looking very good already! I like the Chop Top a lot, it's just low enough, but not too low. Sounds very interesting. Did all, or at least most of the Bonneville Racers have a Belly Pan? I'm just thinking if I have to make one for my '32 3W Coupe, which will be another Bonneville Racer. And another question, what do you do to your pictures? They look fantastic. -
Great Detailing! The engine looks very realistic to me. Looks like all little things are on their place. I can't wait to see more.

A "Rivet Counter" speaks up!
W-409 replied to MrObsessive's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just read through the first page. Haven't read the second page yet, but few thoughts came into my mind. Someone pointed out the Monogram '69 Camaro. I agree, the body looks incorrect. It's not the best kit when looking at the interior, chassis and engine, but the body looks really odd. I'm building one currently, but it's coming slowly-just because of that. To me, scale accuracy is, well of course, important. I'm trying to build as good models as I can, and I think that many times, little things make the model "Pop Out". Sometimes I like building fast builds, between more serious projects. I don't like to do corrections to the body, if it's even close, but especially for engines, interiors and chassis parts, I do those corrections if I see that there's a need for them. I don't like major body work, and if the body looks good already even if it's not perfect, is many times "good enough". But it depends. If you count me into Rivet Counter's group, count me in, and then I'm a rivet counter & proud of it. -
Thanks, TJ! I love Altered WheelBase Cars (That's why I put together Gasser & AWB Community Build on this forum ). And I'm going to move the rear axle a bit forward, but my car will not have rear wheel openings on the body, the rear tires will be outside the bodyline, just like in "real" Hot Rod. This will not be Traditional HotRod or any other building style vehicle. I just want to say that all opinions and ideas etc. are appreciated, and very welcome! If you have some thoughts or if you can see that I'm doing something wrong here, just let me know, all opinions are appreciated and welcome. More coming soon...

Revell / Monogram '32 ford kits
W-409 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's the '32 Ford 5W Coupé. I prefer Five Window Coupe than Three Window, and that kit has Hemi engine plus some other very nice HotRod parts, like the Big 'n' Little type tires and steel wheels. I like the other variations too, but that's the best. -
'66 Mustang Pro Modified (Updated 10/16/2013)
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks For The Comments Fellas! Progress has been very slow, now I have a bunch of exams in the school, starting from Friday. But I managed to do some work today with the intake manifold, it's pretty much done. Needs some sanding and little finishing, but the basic "look" is done. I built the manifold from 1 millimeter thick styrene sheet and styrene tubing. Right now I think that it would have been much easier to do it from brass. I don't know if I'm building another one in the future, which would be better than this. Let's see if I can make this look better with paint and some finishing. Some pictures. Not the best quality, because I managed to break my camera some how (Again!). These are taken with my Video Camera, which doesn't take as good "Still pictures" as my normal camera does. -
Here we go again, little more work done. I removed rear wheel openings from the body using styrene. I've also started building the firewall-area, but more on that later when I get some more done. My camera is broken, and these pics are taken with my video camera, which don't take as good "still pictures" as normal camera does.

Your builds are always fantastic and very inspiring. This one belongs to the same category. Paint, detail, parts fit etc. look absolutely fantastic.
