That looks very good! Your engine details look very nice, and it's true-Detailing is not as horrible as it feels first. And it makes the model look much better.
-
Wow that looks good to me! Excellent paint job on it, even if you said it still needs more paint coats. The engine looks good too, this one will be very interesting to see, I'm tuned in! And thanks again of the Gasser rules.
-
Thanks, Cole! There's actually much more work in these Stockers, than many people would think. Next I'm moving on to paint all chassis parts and get it on four wheels. I guess it is ready on winter/spring 2013.
-
. Thanks Dave! After my "Birthday-party" on Sunday, I sprayed some blue as overspray to the chassis. It didn't turn out perfect, actually it's far away from it but the best I could do with spray can. Then I painted the Gas Tank, or actually the visible part of it black. Next assembling the chassis!

Early '60s style C/Gasser........A '51 Studebaker
W-409 replied to traditional's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Yeah I have to agree. ....Even if I'm a guy who has built many of those "Gassers". But where to get the rules? Personally I have absolutely No Idea about these Old Rules, and I bet someone else has this kind of problem too. That's why we, or at least I, build "Gassers" instead of Gassers. -
Thanks Ben! Yes those wheels and tires are excellent quality, when I saw them at Daytona Racing Hobbies & Souvenirs right next to the Speedway, I had to get two sets of wheels and two sets of tires. I would have bought more, but I didn't have enough cash with me. Well next time more. I primered a bunch of parts yesterday, I should have something painted today, if everything goes well.

Thanks Guys! Those wheels and tires are really great, wheels have even the bolt and lug nut molded so that they can be painted with different shades of silver. Well personally I'm more Chevy guy, but Mopars are very cool too. Especially these Stock Cars and Drag Racers. Here's some more. I started the engine assembly. It went together very well, not any kind of problems so far. I added the spark plug wires too, next I need to continue assembling more parts like the carburetor and belt & Pulleys. Also I managed to get the Wheels And Tires done. I sanded those tire treads first, then installed wheels. I painted the lug nuts bright silver, center caps and bolts are bit darker silver. Tire textes came from Plastic Performance Products, too. Door panels had a lot of Ejector marks. I sanded them down, and put little putty there, so everything will be smooth after a coat of primer.

Nice build, as always Darryl! Your builds always amaze me, always nice paint jobs and details, this one is not exception. Keep 'em Coming!

Early '60s style C/Gasser........A '51 Studebaker
W-409 replied to traditional's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Agreed. On FCMA Open 2012, In Finland, Tapani Rauramo had one Bulletnose Studebaker finished, but I don't know where it is built, resin or if it's own conversion. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Very nice Gasser build. This is what I would build from '51 Studebaker. Your paint job looks very good, detail is excellent and overall look is very clean also. Nice job. -
Wow, that came out very beautiful, Bruce! Maybe one of the bests I've seen from your bench, even if your all other builds are very nice too. I like the paint and overall clean-look on this one. It's actually much better looking as LeMans than GTO. Congratulations on very nice model, Bruce.

Thanx, Mike! That sounds excellent, I'm in!

Thanks Matthew, Mike and Ron! Yeah, I wanted to build a car that is easier to drive than Gassers and what had exhaust pipes with mufflers and that kind of stuff, so it would be fun car to race with. But then at the same time, it had to be fast and serious racer. Thanx Again.

That's Nice one, too! I can't decide which one of these Cannonballers is my Favorite, they are so great. This one looks very good too, the bodywork turned out great. Those few spare tires on the back is very nice addition.

Wheels Painted With Revell's Gloss Black Enamel Paint. Removed The Molded In Wire From The Inner Fender. A Little Putty Was Needed, Too. Sanding Tomorrow, And Then Paint. Body Primered: Stay Tuned For More!

I got this Lindberg/Model King kit today as a early Birthday Present. It looks very nice kit to me and I bet it can be turned out very nice. With my skills, the end result won't be perfect, but I'm trying my best with it. I started building today. When I test fitted the kit tires (What I always do first), I realized that they are way too small. But luckily, the solution was easy- I have few packs of Plastic Performance Products' NASCAR tires and wheels, bought from Daytona Beach, Florida. Just next to the Speedway! So I decided to go with them this time. Also I started the bodywork, a little sanding was required, but not too much anyway. There were only four mold lines, what were easy to remove. Then I sprayed some primer on it. Tomorrow we can see if I can already paint the body... Also I painted all engine parts, tomorrow will start assembling! This Is The Starting Point. The Tires Are Really Nice. Original Tire From The Kit On The Left, PPP Tire on The Right. PPP Wheels And Tires Together.

Wow, I've had two of those Dodge 330 kits. They didn't have any problems with the body. The kit looks very nice, and it's already on the bench !

Thanks! Your Corvette looks very clean too, excellent job. Thanks for hosting this CBP, it was alot of fun. Sorry to hear that you can't make the Dart done, it was very interesting. Hopefully we'll see it finished later. My Under Glass-thread can be found Here. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=67165

Wow Thanx for the Comments everyone !!! I'm very happy about how it turned out, too. It was fun build and I must give credit to AMT of very nicely done Model Kit. Now to finish Pro Stock Cuda and '53 Hudson Hornet.
-
As said in the CBP topic, this is absolutely one of the Coolest '57 Fords I've ever seen. The stance is just perfect, and I like the scoop hood. Nice job with cutting those rear wheel openings also.
-
Beautiful 'Vette. I like the paint job and color a lot. Nice detailing too, it is nice to see Corvettes in Cannonball Race, too since it's "The Only American's Authentic Sports Car". Good Job.
-
That's sweet! I like those colors a lot! You did fantastic job with it, nice paint and detail. Stance looks good too, I'm a huge fan of Gassers.

Is it true that there would be a NASCAR Racer made from new Chevy Camaro? I read it somewhere, but I'm not sure if it's true or not? Maybe someone in here knows better? That looks quite mean to me. Hopefully someone Is releasing a kit, Diecast, prepainted or anything model-related of these new cars.
