Thanks for the great comments, Matti, Bryan and Brandan! Yeah, turbos are quite popular. The reason why I decided to use them, is that I wanted to install as powerful engine as I could under the hood without any scoops or anything. Personally I prefer Blowers, but this is great change to build one car with turbos too. Headers, exhaust pipes, turbos and all turbo tubings are made from solder. Those turbo systems were not the easiest to do and they're not the best in the world, but I'm sure that they can be built by everyone. And it's much easier to make them from solder, since once glued, they can still be adjusted a little.

Black Is Black. I always enjoy your builds. I've never seen these Muscle cars being built into nice lowriders except your builds! I can't wait to see more.

Here is one picture with one of my oldest builds- '67 Chevelle Pro Street from this same kit. It has 396 BBC with Blower, now it will finally get a Challenger.
-
I have finally made some progress with the Sleeper Chevelle. I was able to paint the wheels yesterday, they are painted with Revell's Gloss Black. I also installed those Dog Dish Hubcaps, and they look really good to me. Also I made spacers to the front tires and now they fit nicely. I also found out, that engine does not fit under the hood without some modifications to the front axle system... It is kicking back all the time with those little things, but needs to start cutting again. Here is little test fit of the front tires. This will be on local Model Car Show's "Primer Table" on Saturday in this condition.

Oh, it looks like 1:1 frame and engines! I'm sure this one will be another great build, your Hot Rod was fantastic and this looks very good so far, too. Especially that link between the rear axle and transmission, looks very sharp.
-
Great Traditional Hot Rod! Excellent paint job and very nice, clean building! Wheel and tire choice looks fantastic too, can't get much better.
-
Front Runners or somekind of other really narrow front tires would fit into this build. And Flip Nose would really make justice for that engine, since it could be seen bit better then. I mean that flip nose, which could also be taken off, but it would still be functional. Hard to explain, but I hope you got it. Looking forward for more.

Thanks for the info, Casey. Very sad to hear that, his builds were great.
-
That is very good basis for Gasser- Go for it! A friend of mine is also building Dodge A100 Gasser, or actually it's AWB and it's looking very good too. This really is good basis for that.
-
Jo-Han kit is Okay. As Casey said, there's tons of work if you'd like to have good chassis and interior details.... I'm working on one, and I've put maybe more work to it than other builds, still it's not even in the halfway through! The body is very nice, though.
-
That One??? I've built one, and it was pretty nice kit, even if the detail is much more simple than in Revell's new version. And those Old Pro Decals are very nice too. And in my kit, the seperate front fenders really did fit nicely.

Excellent builds! This was very nice to read through. Needs to bookmark it for reference when I will start hacking with mine. The kit sure does build up very nice. -
Thanks for the comments, support, links, information and everything, guys! Yeah, that's what I did. Thanks for the information, Chuck. You sure know if there are any problems in these Hudson kits, how many different variations you've built? Seriously, I need to make little test fit now and see what I can do. No progress yet, I'm having very little modeling time now because of the school. But I try to work on this one whenever I can.

You do fantastic work with Alclad. Your chromed parts are always very smooth and clean, shine is great and I like the different shades of metals too. What paint you use under Alclad...? I've heard that there must be black, but does the manufacturer affect to end result? When I buy Alclad in some point, I'd like to use Revell or Humbroll gloss black, since it's much easier to get here in Finland. And do you spray clear coat over Alclad parts, or polish them? Could not believe that they are that nice straight from the Airbrush. Oh and did I say - FANTASTIC Work, John! -
Broken windshield in my '64 Goat, 1/24
W-409 replied to grzessk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yeah, and Drag Racing Models category is the best for this type of stuff. There are nice models and nice modelers who will help you with the problem. Post the WIP thread there also, it's great when all Drag Cars are in one place. There are different types of Pro Mods. Some are not looking like Pro Mods, they might be with stock body too, so you could use stock windshield too, depending of what kind of PM car it'll be. -
modelling research project

1. What is a model kit? -Model kit is basically a box with parts what can be put together to present a model and maybe some reference material and instructions. 2. What activities (e.g. painting, sanding, burnishing) do you associate with modelling? -Cutting, slicing, sanding, smoothing, puttying (however it is said), painting, polishing, assembling, cleaning, foiling etc. And rarely weathering. I have no idea what burnishing means, so I don't count it in here. 3. Do you follow instructions when building a model? -Yes and No. If I've built the same kit already once, I may not need the instructions. But usually I double check little details from instructions, if I'm not sure which way valve covers need to be installed (problem with Mopar engines ) and what locator pin needs to be attached in what place. Also I might look colors for parts from the instructions. 4. How skilled are you at modelling? -Not too special, but not the worst one either. I've built little over 50 models right now, and more is coming all the time. I'm trying to get better with every model I build, but it doesn't always go like that. Decide yourself: http://tapahtumakuvia.kuvat.fi/kuvat/Model+Cars/Models+By+Niko/ 5. What are kit conversions? Have you ever done a kit conversion? -I'd say that making modifications to model kits is kit conversions. For example Chopping '50 Oldsmobile would be a kit conversion for me. And yes, I've done kit conversions many, many times. Most of my builds have some kind of kit conversions done, like making a flip nose to my Chevy Beretta Bracket car, or making roll cage for '59 Simca Gasser. 6. What is kitbashing? Have you ever kitbashed? -Using parts from more than one model kits. For example buying a '50 Oldsmobile model kit, taking the chassis from Revell Pro Sportsman Chevrolet and engine from MPC Pro Stock Camaro kit. I've done many times kitbashing, it's fun and gives alot more possibilities to have little more unique or different model than everyone else. 7. What is the object of model-making? What is the end product? - For me as a car modeler, the object is to have fun and complete models as I'd like to have or drive in 1:1 world too. Also getting better modeler is good object. -
Haven't seen Double D aka Dave Zinn for long time. Also, all of his posts have been gone! Has anyone heard about him? I always enjoyed his builds, subjects were great and they were Top Notch quality.
-
Don't know how I have missed this build, but now I am really glad that I saw this one. Fantastic job, Bruce! I always enjoy following your builds, the bodywork that you do in your every build, is fantastic. Paint job looks good too and I like the color too. It could pass a Factory Prototype.
-
Gonna be another very cool build, Corey! The 'Cuda was fantastic, I can't wait to see how this turns out. I like that engine alot too.

MUD BUG! Gettin' Dirty...Deals Wheels Style! Done: 11-12-12
W-409 replied to Ira's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Then it's bit like this Finnish VW Bug that started racing on the late 70's. It won Finnish Championcip on Street Altered category and left a bunch of V8 powered American Cars behind. Later it was chopped like it is in this picture: The build looks very good! I always enjoy to following your builds, Ira. These Car-Toon cars are something that I would like to build also. These are fun and you do very nice job with every one of these. -
Not much done, but something anyway. I started making the Front Runners. Other tire is now sanded with 400 grit sanding paper. I have to sand it with 600 and 1000 papers too, and then do the same work to back side. And after that, there's still another one to do. I'll try to get that tire completed, or at least closer to complete before posting a picture. Also painted some engine parts, but more of them later when I start the assembly.

That's great collection! You could do a Drag Strip diorama with those Ramchargers cars. Are you planning to build Ramchargers Dragster in some point?
-
Thanx Guys! The school is slowing me down that much that I haven't made any progress. But today I have little shorter day, and I hope I can get something done for the Buick.
-
I will follow this one for sure. This is one of the best looking cars from the 80's. Are you planning to use original Six Cylinder Turbo engine, or swapping V8 engine for this one?

W-409 replied to NitroJunky's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Very Nice Pontiac Funny Car. Excellent paint job and nice detailing on the engine and chassis. Wheels and tires look very realistic too, especially those tires are looking real rubber. More pics, please.
