1959 Chevy El Camino Kustom project
W-409 replied to Thor's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yes, that would look very good on El Camino. Yes, I like Bellflower exhaust pipes, and it would be something different too, not always those Lake Pipes. -
Can't believe that it's your second build. Very clean build over all, paint looks very good and parts fit nicely together etc. This is much better than my second build, so I'm not saying any critic, just more and more builds and you get better all the time.

That would be a good way too, since if those trims are painted by airbrush, thet look much better (and cleaner!) than i they would have been painted by brush. Thanks for the idea, David, I'll give it a try.

Buddy Baker 71 Charger
W-409 replied to DANB's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
It looks very good, nice and clean build over all. Looks like parts fit nicely together and paint turned out good. Interesting subject too, these Chargers are pretty rarely seen, and that's sad. You did nice job with this one. One thing what could be improved on next Build: Those spark plug wires are bit too long. They should be shorter, same as those spark plug boots are bit too long too. Here is one picture, what could be used for reference: -

Very cool. '59 and '60 El Caminos are great, and they look very good as Custom. This is going to be great build, wheel and tire choice is looking good so far and I like the stance too. -
This is cool, true Old School Hot Rod! Ardun Heads look good on Flathead, and blower fits perfectly. Body looks nice also and you did perfect wheel choice for it.

Thanks guys! So needs to pick up one Black Sharpie Marker, a good one. I guess I will do some masking anyway, because it wouldn't be the first time when I mess the paint job when painting window trims.

Very Nice California Charger!!! Paint and decals turned out great and I like the overall look too. Subject is very interesting too. We had one California Charger here in Finland, on the 80's I guess. Timo Aartomaa was the driver, and car ran in ProComp. car category.

Me Too, mine is still coming to Northern Europe from Model Express. Can't wait to get it on my hands...

Great job on the GTO. Paint job looks very good, and I like the finishing too, it's clean and parts fit to each other very well... Only thing what caught my eye, you have four bolt 14" wheels on Pontiac GTO?

That Stuff.... How Glossy is it? Is it like Gloss Black, SemiGloss, or Matt? I need to make matt black window trims for one build, and I'd like to know if that stuff works for it. If it don't work, is there any other stuff to make matt black window trim? Of course I can paint the trim, but masking is not a little thing...

Yeah, I'm with Skip too. It'll be very cool Roadside Diner. And Hey, I got it right, but not gonna tell you what it is...

Very Good point, Dave! When comparing into Nostalgia Top Fuel, I'm starting to believe, that Dave's Gassers belong here, in this post. Thanks for making this subject clear.

I Wasn't going to use those unrealistic hood hinges, and firewall had big holes for them. So I took my sheet styrene, and after cutting two little styrene parts, I filled those holes. First Picture is Before, the second is After.

Sanded The Body Smoother Too, Now It Needs Some More Bondo.... Engine:
-
Thanks Nick! Glad to hear, that my pictures were helpful. More work done with the Camaro. I glued engine to chassis and it fitted very nicely on place. Then I decided to do little test fit, and realized that the Air Cleaner doesn't fit under the hood. Well I cut a hole on that hood with Trumpeter's Panel Scriber and saw. New Scoop is made from '57 Chevy's (Monogram) bottom part of the scoop. I had to modify it a bit before it looked good enough. Well enough talking, here are the pictures... I think, those new cars what run in A/G, B/G, C/G, D/G, or AA/GS, they are today's "Gassers". But are they really NOSTALGIA Gassers? I think, that they are bit like Modern Gassers, but not Nostalgia. Whatever, they are nice. Here's one '56 Chevrolet, which I hope, qualifies as a Gasser.

I made some bodywork too.... Still little rough, but it's slowly getting there.... Also painted inner fenders from the front after removing molded in battery cable from other fender. I can install the engine soon and then continue the detailing.

Thanks for the kind words! I built fuel lines from carburetors to fuel pump. The First Picture shows that connection part, I built for this fuel line. Fuel Line was built from metal wire, which was pretty easy to bend. I built throttle linkage too. It's made from same metal wire, and it was pretty hard to make since spark plug wires were disturbing a bit. But I managed to make it and this picture shows the parts, I needed to complete Throttle Linkage. I added few more details too, and then engine looked like this:

Yeah, the carburetor from that Oldsmobile kit looks great. I have to find one. Little update. I've been working with '69 Camaro for Gumball Rally CBP, and I've had some other things to do as well, but now I managed to do some more work for the chassis. Tomorrow my plan is to sand it smooth and look if it needs still some bondo...
