That sure is nice color. I painted mine almost same shade of Metallic Blue few years ago. Great job on the Impala, everything looks very good on it.

Building Monogram's Street and Revell's Racing Version of Shelby Cobra.
W-409 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Model Cars
After a Long Break, I continue this one, as a Tribute to Carroll Shelby. I built new Turkey Pan. The base part, I mean that the flat area is from the kit, but those "walls" are built from styrene. After little putty, it looks ready for paint. I also installed spark plug wires. Next I'm going to continue by installing headers and stuff like that. Having problems with the picture uploading, so I post them when I can solve the problem... -
Great to see Older Monogram kits built too, usually people just build the most recent release of (for example '56 Chevy). It's pretty much the same as Monogram's '57 Chevy so I can tell you that you did amazing job with this and you managed to make it look like real car. Good Job all over, especially the paintjob turned out very shiny and smooth.

Scratch Building an Aussie Ford Falcon **New update,15/1/18**
W-409 replied to ShawnS's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Wow this is amazing scratchbuilding. The chassis looks good and you did great job with those wheels and tires too. Body looks very sharp too, keep it going. I'm waiting for more, and taking notes. -
Well, I guess I'm on the middle... Sometimes I clear over the decals, but sometimes I just leave them without clearing. But now, when I have practised polishing paint jobs, I have to clear over decals, so I can polish. Decals stay in good condition, and they don't crackle off if they are installed nicely and they are smooth. MicroSol also helps them to stay on their place, I guess.

I've never had that kind of great paints such as Testors' paints, so I painted my carburetors by mixing Revell's #91 Silver and Revell Gold. The result was pretty good, I know you guys could have done it better, but that's how I did and I was happy about it.

Nice build, as always. Nice to see you building these late 60's Muscle Cars too. I really like the Charger, paint turned out awesome and I like the engine detail too. Very clean build over all, but I would added that Bumble Bee stripe. It doesn't look bad like that either, but I think it would give nice finishing touch on this one. Very cool build anyway, keep these coming.

Little update for the Camaro, so I can get it done when the race starts... Ignition wires are installed and I found those headers too, finally. Air Cleaner is installed also, I painted it to match USA Flag colors, stars are just decals. Next step is body work and interior, of course that engine isn't finished either...

highly detailed general lee... done.. 5/6/11 to 5/13/12
W-409 replied to mopar01lee's topic in Model Cars
No, I'm not. I can't remember many General Lees finished for a while. I don't know is it good or bad thing, though. But I'm bit suprised how rare they actually are, if you look this Under Glass forum, how many General Lees are posted here per month? If you compare that number for example number of other Chargers. -
highly detailed general lee... done.. 5/6/11 to 5/13/12
W-409 replied to mopar01lee's topic in Model Cars
It's a great build, I really like the look of it. I'm bit amazed how rare it's to see General Lee being built. You did great job with this one. Those functional headlights are amazing and opened doors are great. Overall great looking build and really Highly Detailed. The pictures could be better. I guess, these pics just don't make justice on this build. -
Another Great build from your bench! I haven't seen many Dusters being built like this, and you've done great job on this one. I especially like the paintjob and engine detailing is great too. I really like this one, you did awesome job, as always.

Very Cool VW Bus. That looks just as wild as the real one, great job with the detail on that engine. You did good job with all of those modifications too.

1-8 scale 69 camaro pro mod (mike hill's car)
W-409 replied to comp1839's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Well that engine looks spectacular, I really like the work, you've done for it. When you started this topic, I was sure that this is going to be something fantastic, but anyway, these pictures amaze me again and again. Great Job As Always! -
Is It Possible to join with this http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37691&view=findpost&p=486543? Since it's on the starting line. Lots of work still ahead.

Thanks Everyone ! Alan: Thanks for the information. I spent some time with book "How To Rebuild and Modify Rochester Quadrajets", and it looks like that '57 Carburetor (is it 4Jet?) is close enough to Quadrajet. The difference is not so dramatical in this scale. I have to fill that hole on the front of that carburetor, and make a new one to the right side, where the fuel line will be connected. So '72 Olds kit has Rochester carb too... It's a shame that I can't find them from Finland and new kit costs alot. So I will be using that one, with little modifications I try to make it more accurate. Darryl: I'm trying to build this as nicely as the Nova. Then it's nice to have two Stock Eliminator cars next to each other .

Not a big update, but little more work has been done again. I primered the chassis to see, how much putty it still needs. It's bit rough, and needs more work before I can paint it. Also glued the carburetor on the engine, it's Rochester since these Ford Big Blocks had Rochesters originally. It's from '57 Black Widow, may not be 100% correct, but much better than Holley.

1962 Petty Plymouth
W-409 replied to jjsipes's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
I don't know if I would start modifying that kind of old kit, which is very expensive and rare. But anyway, looks like you're doing good job with it so keep it going, it's gonna be very cool and different when finished. I haven't seen these being built, and as a NASCAR, it'll be very cool. I'm Tuned In. -
1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
W-409 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
WOW! Are you building 1:1 scale engine, or is that really 1/16? Amazing work with those Gaskets. Oil Pan looks very good too. This build is spectacular. "How Much Detail is possible to put in 1/16 scale Funny Car Engine". -
It's true, this Chevelle kit has amazing parts, and especially that engine with its parts, is very nice. Even if it's not maybe the top quality, but it's good sized (not too small) and many other kits had same engine basis too, so parts are not hard to find. I've built this kit too many, many years ago and I can say that it was very fun and enjoyable build. What Camaro kit you mean? This one? Or This?
-
Thanks Guys! That Fuel Tank presents Jazz Fuel Cell, and 1:1 part looks like that. So I don't see a reason to re-do it . Ignition wires are attached now, and they turned out OK. Next I have to work on the carburetor and water pump area, to make some more progress on the engine. The chassis looks like it could be primered after a bit of sanding...

That would be cool Gasser.... Bit like this: Outlaw 10,5 Drag car is not bad either, but as Old School guy, I'd like to see it as Gasser.
