Merry X-Mas, you all! I'm bit late, but that doesn't matter at all, I think... Here is one picture of the house, where I live. Bit of snow here and it's freezing cold, when door is open and I'm going to outside... But anyways here you go:
-
Can you tell, how do you make them? It's just too hard to buy something from USA... I would like to try my hand out there... Impala looks very good so far, keep us posted.
-
Thank you, Oldschool! Yes, that feeling when you are building outside is really different than if you are building inside. That's great. But if I go building outside, I get some bad, or not so interesting kit with me, so it doesn't matter if it looks bad when finished.

That's nice and clean, as always. Your talents are awesome, I can't really find any mistakes of your builds. Thsi paintjob looks very good and engine detailing is very nice too. I like those tires and wheels on it and stance is just perfect. That real thing looks very good too, of course and this model. I like it very much, thank you for sharing it, keep these amazing Hot Rods coming!

Yes, I have test fitted those doors... Maybe I'm going to glue them shut, I simply hate opening doors, if they are not working correctly. I had opening doors years back in '57 Fairlane and they were awfull. So I maybe glue them shut, but lets have a see, if I can get some "easy" solution to that problem...

Yeah, that looks amazing, as always! I can't wait to see more. Looks just so great. I got this kit for a christmas present yesterday. I meant now Revell Special Edition Hemi Dart. I think it is the basis of this build too? It was very great model kit and I'm building it to Super Stock Drag Racer, but I think that you guys have seen enough these so I'm not going to post a topic, I think. But your project looks very good, can't wait to see the next update.

Truck is waiting some parts to dry, but I started to build that long flatbed trailer to this one. I painted those beds (?) by silver spray few weeks ago. I let them dry very well, because I don't want that paint leaves from the part, when I'm masking it. So second this was that I masked that part so, that I can paint those wooden panels. I painted them with Hubroll flat brown. It went pretty good. Then some "Clear Orange" on that brown paint and now it looks like real wood. After that I removed those masking tapes and I'm very happy from the score. Now just another bed is painted, other one needs still paint. That's very easy way to get real looking wood panels to car. I like that. And when you paint that Clear Orange on the brown, it's not smooth so it looks like real wood. That orange clear is like "must". Here one picture for you:

Oh, that looks very good to me! I like to see truck models, which are not Volvo or Scania. That's very good looking truck... Paintjob looks very good and it's very clean build, I can't find any big mistakes on it. Trailer looks very good too, where is it from. I'm building '66 Dodge L700 truck, there is a topic in On The Workbench section, but I think, that it's not in first pages... Anyways, your truck and trailer combo looks very good to me, keep it going!

Thank you, Brett! It's bad that I really can't paint right now. I'm afraid that it doesn't go well, if I paint in -20 celsiusdegrees... Must wait when it's warmer, but I must get something new finished to model car shows at spring 2011... When it's like -5 or something like that, then I might get something painted. But thank you for the comment! And yes, I got more cars ready in 2010 than I got 2009, that's very, very great.
-
Thank you all for the replies! It's great t know that there are some good places to buy model kits. I must save some money to the vacation! I'm coming there in winter 2011, but there may be little warmer than here, it's freezing in outside...

removing old decals???
W-409 replied to disabled modeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have removed decals with warm water. Not hot! It works fine, if the decal haven't been long time at its place, but if it's old decal, then that's not pssible. But anyways, I removed decals from my '58 Impala like that, before I painted it blue. Maybe I'm supid or my enghlish is just s bad, but if I understood correctly, Plowboy meant that put tape on decal and pull it off from the body? And when decals leaves from the body, how do you get it off from that tape...? Do you use water for it? This is little problem to mee too right now. I have Mis Deal Funny Car, which is built once. There are very nice decals and I want to save them. Just can't get them off from the body. I think, there is no clearcoat on decals, but never can be sure. -
The 10th one was '57 Chevrolet Nomad Gasser, lots of modifications I did to this one. The 11th one and the last one of the year was '32 Ford "Ruster". Lots of scratchbuilding and modifications to it. Here are some of them: Scratchmade frame, sectioned, panel lines filled, trunk lid built longer, bullet taillights, scrachmade propeller shaft, modified floor, new seats, scratchmade firewall, scratchmade windshield and windshield frame, steering wheel from '58 Impala to '60 Impala, scratchmade front axle system and so on... Here they are, all eleven. It would be nice to hear some comments.!

The 7th one was The little diorama: First thing, I did to this one was that I built those cyinder heads better: Finished product: The 8th one was Lamborghini Countach. I built it in three days. This was my place, where I built it. Finished product, there are lots and lots of mistakes, but it was very fun build. The 9th one was Mercury Cougar, "Custom HotWheels". Here is the basis of my build: Finished product. More on the next post.

The fourth one was '49 Ford. It's 1/32 scale too. I finished this one just a few hours after that '55 Chevy. Lindberg's kit, and it was very bad. The fift one was '66 Chevrolet Nova Pro Street. It's a rebuild, here you can see the basis: Finished Product: The sixth one was '55 Pro Sportsman Chevy More on the next post.

Here are my builds, finished 2010. I'm sure that I'm not going to get anything finished anymore this year... The First one was '64 Dodge 330 "Ramchargers" The Second one was '29 Ford Rat Rod The Third one was '55 Chevy Bel Air 1/32 scale. It's a rebuild. Here in the first picture you can see the basis of this project. And here you can see finished product More on the next post.

I got some more work done with this one... Front seat is painted and glued to interior floor. Also painted the dashboard by red, but it still needs some silver and black paint before I can glue it to place. I made also ignition wires to the engine. I made them from Detail Master's wire. Here is a little tip, how I make them. I drilled one big hole to center of distributor. Normally is just glue nine spark plug caps (?)to distributor. Then I glue ignition wires to them and other spark plug caps to cylinder head. And just put those wires to place. But this time distributor was so small, that only way to get those wires to fit was to drill one big hole and glue those wires there. Also this car is on four wheels. It was easy to get those tires fit, and stance looks very good I think. Nothing special to get that thing on four wheels, and it's great that all four tires are on the ground. I mean that for example left front tire isn't in air. Just a few mockup pictures for you, As you can see, hood still needs paint. Ignition wires: Chassis is almost finished. Still needs some Coil Over shocks etc... Comments are very welcome!

Very cool project, I'll be watching it! Where are those Drag Radials from? Nice job on the rollcage also, I like '66 Impala body too so this one will be very nice one when finished. Keep these coming, very good looking so far.
-
Awesome job on this! Paintjob looks very good, shiny and smooth. Color is just perfect too... Engine looks very good to me, detailing is amazing. Great wheel and tire combo, great to see old school styled custom Chevy. It would be just a bit lower, but it's not bad! Great.
-
That's very good looking so far! I'm going to get my Gibson Rat Trap engine soon... That motor looks very great on it and paintjob is very very good. Color is just perfect. Engine detailing looks very nice to me. Like that interior too. Can't wait to see more. And one thing: That front tire is a bit too back. I mean that it needs to go just a bit forward.

Wow, I'm speechless. That's just so impressive!

85 GMC Van 8/9/17 Fixed for Fotki
W-409 replied to Foxer's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I have been watching your GMC Van project. This one looks very good so far. Lots of modifications you have done, all of them are very nicely made, I mean that everything looks like how they are in 1:1 and those parts are sanded smooth. Awesome job with it so far, can't wait to see, what is coming in next update. -
Wow, awesome! That paintjob looks very good to me. All of those modifications and scratchbuildings are made very very nicely. Engine looks very good too, and detailing is very nice also. That Bellypan looks pretty cool, I think and interior is very nice also. I like those tires and wheels too, they are just great and that grille looks amazing, is it photoetch...? But anyways very good looking Hot Rod, keep these coming, this one is one of your best ones.

Thank you, guys! It's nice to hear some positive comments, I must say that I like this one too. This will look good with "Black Widow" Chevy... Can't get good looking outdoor pictures, because it's 50cm snow here.
-
Thank you, Jordan! I like the red color on it too, and paintjob is pretty good also. Today I got some more work done with this one. I painted center of those wheels by black. Also I painted tire textes, but they are not looking so good. I mean that they would be lots of better... But anyways, those wheels and tires are fitting to this car very well, and with the raised rear end it looks very good. Just like here in Finland on the late 70's or early 80's... In the picture, there are only two of them, but they all are ready. Next, I built engine little. I glued the fan belt to the engine. It wasn't so easy, as I thought, because that Fuel Injection System's hose was there, were that belt should go. Well, I got it glued, now that's not maybe 100% correct, but enough for me... Also I glued the headers to the engine. But it was hard to get engine test fitted, so I decided to glue that engine to frame. When it was there, I put those headers correctly, but that other one is badly, so I must make it little longer. Then just little painting and it's very good. More comes, when I get something to show. Here in the pictures, body is just test fitted to its place. Looks pretty good, I think. Comments are always welcome.

Nice to hear, you are starting the project. Everything is well here, can't take any outdoor pictures, 'cause it's about 40-50 cm snow here...
Group B rally cars are my favorites, but those new ones are ok and historic rally cars, very nice!
