Thanks for the closeup! I'll try to find me a set, those look spot on.
-
As always with your builds, I'm just watching here completely amazed by the quality of your work! I think it's not necessary to say what is looking good, because everything does! Fantastic work as always.

Really nice work on an interesting subject! Great looking paint job and excellent stance. Those wheels and tires look spot on in there, and your engine is looking very realistic so far too. Projects like this make me motivated to keep working on my Thunderbolt that is currently on my bench...

I can't remember seeing this one before, but it looks great! I like the daily driver look with that paint job and everything. Those winter tires are looking really cool too, do you know what kit did they originally come from? I have a '77 Monaco that will be a daily driver in late '70s Finland and it would definitely need snow tires on it.

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
W-409 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
It's been a while since I've been able to check in on this one, but WOW! That's some incredible work there with those fittings and other details! I've made my fittings from plastic rod which I've painted in silver and then clear red or clear blue. Sometimes they turn out decent and I'm happy with them, but I gotta say that seeing your fittings makes mine look like they were made by a 2 year-old kid. Fantastic work as always! -
I've got a bunch of those Lindberg '64 Dodge / Plymouth kits as well, but most of them are missing some parts or they have been built already. Why? Well, that kit has a good chassis and engine for many early '60s Mopar Super Stocks, like '61 Ramchargers Dodge Phoenix that I'm building. This is a bit surprising that I have so many of these, as I'm not a Mopar guy... As I usually buy only one copy of a single kit, I think pretty much the only one I have multiples is the Trumpeter '63 Nova. I have two HTs and one Convertible, but I'm always looking more of them. You can't have too many 1st Gen Novas / Chevy IIs on your stash (I have a real '62 Chevy II myself).
-
I like this one a lot! You can't see too many '63 Impalas being built as Drag Racers. Actually I have the same kit and I'll be building the exact same car from it. Hopefully it'll turn out half as good as this one. Very nice work.

Very nice Little Red Wagon! This is one of those kits that I'd like to build myself too. You did an amazing job with yours. Good looking paint and sharp details on the engine. Friend built this kit several years ago so I know it's not an easy kit to build, but you nailed it.

Wow, that's very cool build! It's always nice to see one early '60s Full Size car that's built for strip. I really like the overall look on this one and details like that aluminum front bumper make it stand out. Very nice work!
-
Good looking Nova SS! Nice to see one of these built this nicely. Very nice details inside and out and I really like that original air cleaner too. Nice work!
-
Yes, a friend is driving it nowadays here in Finland and it's still in nice condition even if it has an old paint job and everything. Those old pics are cool, I'll have to show them to him... And the model is really nicely done, too, as your builds always are! Great work!

Yes, I understand that, but I'd guess it would sell better with engine tooled up as well. Though I have no idea how much it would cost to tool it so maybe it would bump the kit price too far. And it seems to be popular with these European/Japanese car model kits that they have no engines. It's good that there is a starting point for the engine. It's highly possible though that I'll skip this one anyway. It's not that interesting subject that I'd start the modifications to fit an engine in there.

This is an outstanding build! Definitely one of the best Rear Engine Dragster models I've ever seen. Your detailing is spectacular inside and out and the overall look is just right. Really nice work!
-
Wow that is one fantastic looking Nomad! But of course that's no surprise when I saw who is the builder, you do awesome work. Very nice paint job and superb BMF work too. Engine detailing finishes it off... Simply beautiful!
-
That's very nice! Couple of times I've been thinking about buying one of these bodies, it would look great as an old Drag Car, but never bought one yet. Nice to see one built Factory Stock too, especially when it's done as nicely as this. Excellent work overall! Nice and smooth paint job and flawless detailing too. All BMFs on chrome trims are so nice and smooth plus that I like that minor weathering in chassis too.
-
That's a really nice looking Hudson! I like the colors on it a lot, but what really caught my eyes right away was that DeSoto grill! A brilliant idea that I'll have to steal for some of my projects too... Also I like the hop up parts on that engine. Overall a very tasty Custom.
-
Nice work! Great to see one of these built even though this AMT kit is not one of the bests... Good looking paint job and a mean looking stance. It definitely looks like you shouldn't mess up with that in traffic lights! And BTW: It's '65, not '63.

WOW! John does it again, yet another true masterpiece! As always, everything is just right on this build. The overall look is very realistic and you did fantastic work with that paint job. My favorite part is detailing, though. As always, the model is flawlessly detailed inside and out, for example I can't remember when I've last seen throttle linkages behind the gas pedal, as usually they are added to the carburetor only. Also Alclad work on those engine parts is just spectacular. They look exactly like real metal, and that's not easy to do. Really nice work again.
-
Wow, incredible! I agree with the others, this is not an easy kit to work with, and unfortunately that is often seen on the final result as well. But definitely not in here, fantastic work! The overall look is just right, all parts fit well together and it looks realistic.
-
Looks great! I can't understand the idea why to make those windows like that. I'd definitely prefer window trims being molded to the body rather than on the windows... But that is the only problem in these new Moebius kits I guess. Yours turned out fantastic! Really nice paint job catches my eyes first, as black is definitely the hardest color to get right. Sharp BMF work too, and little lowering looks good also. Great job.

Correcting molded in / chrome headlights
W-409 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've always painted those chrome headlights with gloss white and before the paint dries, start wiping it off from the center so that the chrome will be seen through the white paint. This is an easy and fast way to improve the look, and if you happen to wipe a bit too much paint off, just apply some more paint to the headlights and start again. -
Very cool build, you don't see many Willys Lead Sleds built! To be honest I've planned doing a same type of build some day, so this is a good inspiration. Nice work with the body mods, all of the shapes are just right resulting a nice and smooth Custom. Really nice work!
-
Very nice Vicky! I too like that Flathead with three carbs on it and your color choice is spot on too. Only thing I'd change would be the wheels, as otherwise this build looks really Old School but those modern aluminum wheels just don't look right in there. But that's of course just my opinion. All that matters is that the overall look is very nice and you had fun building it, of course !
-
Wow! I didn't see this until now, but excellent work as always! I got excited too when I saw the pics, but then I remembered that it's a small scale kit. Anyway you did an excellent job. Great paint, sharp BMF and just right overall look. One of the bests I've seen built from this kit.
