  1. It's always great to see your updates, and this one is no exception. That engine is looking fantastic so far. I can't wait to see more updates on this one.
  2. Dave are you sure those wheels are not the real ones from your '37 Chevy? Seriously, those look fantastic! Those are definitely one of the most realistic wheels I've ever seen. You are a true master... Can't wait to see more.
  3. I have a limited space for my kits so there's no way I'd buy a kit if the plan was not to build it. I understand it though that some people like to do it that way. But personally, as a model car builder, I prefer seeing the finished product on my shelf and that rare box somewhere on display too. I have some old annuals and they all are going to be built someday. One of my dreams would be to have that Aurora '34 Ford built box stock with some added detailing. Those kits are just so expensive....
  4. Really nice build of a good looking car! Perfect paint color and a flawless paint job. I too like the fact that you went with blue interior on this one, and your detailing inside and out is really nice. Only minor thing I'd done differently is painting the wheels. Chrome rings and hubcaps should stay chromed, but the Rally Wheel itself should be silver. But it's probably the best '67 Impala I've ever seen already, painted wheels or not. Really nice work, my hat is off to you!
  5. That looks great! Very fine job with the paint and I have to say that I really like that color combo as well. Everything looks just right, except that maybe it would have been a good idea to smooth out those mold lines on rear bumper before painting it with Alclad? But otherwise a top class model (As always from you), one of the bests that I've seen from this kit. Makes me want to start mine... I picked up an old builtup of this same kit a year ago at a Model Car Show. It's in very good condition, just needs to be rebuilt.
  6. On Saturday I saw this Ranchero and a couple of other old American Classics, but this is the only one I was able to shoot a picture as I was fast enough to take out my cell phone and snap a picture...
  7. There are/have been some excellent bands in the UK. So here are a couple: The Blue Cats. The PoleCats: And does Scottish bands count? The Shakin' Pyramids was an excellent band as well.
  8. Usually when I'm building I put my record player on and listen to some Rockabilly music. I like it, as working in a silence is not the ideal way for me...
  9. Mine has to be that Missing Link Resin '73 Chevelle resin kit that cost about $80 if I remember correctly. Usually the kits I buy are in $20 to $50 range, depending on how rare it is or if it's unstarted or a glue bomb etc... But I try not to spend that much money on these right now, as my 1:1 cars are taking pretty much everything I have...
  10. Very nice Oldsmobile! Even though I'd prefer the regular HT version over Convertible, this one is a true eye candy! Flawless paint and detail work. It sure looks like a real thing. Great to see a new build from your bench, hopefully we can see more of them in the future...You do very good work.
  11. Thanks Andy! It's a good thing that you pointed that out... I didn't realize it until now that it had fuel cap on both sides. Luckily it's an easy fix, as there are a couple of other spots that need to be corrected before painting, too.
  12. I have a bad eye for inaccurate body shapes and stuff like that, usually when someone points out an error with body shapes I just simply see nothing wrong with it so they don't matter me that much. But many people have said that those old Jo-Han bodies are very accurate, and I can believe this. But the problem with those Jo-Han kits is that even if the body was accurate, usually other parts of the kit are not. Engine and especially the chassis and interior are often lacking details and everything is made really simple. I know everyone doesn't mind that at all, but I wouldn't say that those parts of the kit are accurate... For example that '69 AMX Drag On Lady Super Stock kit. The body is nice, but interior, engine bay and chassis are not good. Interior can be made a lot better with minor work, but on chassis and engine bay panels (Inner fenders etc) you need to do a whole lot work to get them accurate. I can't say a single kit that was very accurate, but to me most of the new Revell kits look very good. Same thing goes with Moebius kits too.
  13. Well it's going to have a 383 SBC with a Tunnel Ram intake, but that's probably not happening quite yet. I'm happy if I can install any V8 engine under the hood for the next summer, as I'm pretty sure I can't afford building that 383 stroker yet since the car needs a lot money otherwise, too. But in the long run, the 383 is my plan.
  14. Here are some pics from European Championship Drag Race Event FHRA Nitro Nationals driven here in Finland. Unfortunately there are no pics of Stock or Super Stock cars in action, as I was behind the wheel of our '74 Malibu Classic but I have some pics of other classes behind this link: Nitro Nats 2016 Picture Gallery Here are a couple of teaser shots to get started...
  15. Dave: Thanks! (And sorry for the late reply!) That color choice was an easy choice for this '55 as I've always liked how those two colors fit together on this body style. Gene: Yep, I bought this 1962 Chevy II from a friend last winter. It's rough and missing lots of parts, but so far I've found only one little rust spot on it. It's a four door, but I'll be converting it into 2 door sedan. The plan is to have it driveable, as a 2D Sedan next summer, so I think I know where I'll be spending most of the winter!
  16. Well I've been busy and haven't had much bench time lately, but I've made minor progress on this one anyway. Front subframe was painted gloss black as well as most of the front suspension. Steering rods and sway bar were painted with Humbrol Metallic 56 and after installing those inner fenders, I glued that front suspension piece on place too. I still need to do a few touchups here and there and paint a couple of bolt ends with brighter silver, but it's good to have something glued together too. Yesterday I spent some time in the "paint booth" again. Mold lines were cleaned from the body, which took pretty much time since this kit had quite nasty mold lines that were tricky to get rid of at some spots. A light coat of primer was shot on the body to reveal all little flaws there still are, but to be honest it looks surprisingly good, only a couple of little corrections need to be done and then it's ready for another coat of primer and then I can move on to paint. A big bunch of smaller parts were cleaned and primed as well...
  17. This is going to be another very interesting project as you do excellent work with these Factory Stock classics! Green would be a good color choice for this one. Here's a picture of one '59 or '60 Lincoln I saw at local Cruising Night a couple of years ago... Very nice and factory stock. I think that color is pretty much spot on:
  18. That's a great looking Hemi Dart! That kit is really nice, and you did an excellent work on your version. It's nice to see a bit different paint and decal combination on this one. Nice work with detailing, too.
  19. Two weeks ago on my way to work in the morning I saw this Hudson Hornet. I had to find my phone and snap a picture of it, as those are seen really rarely around here... And today I saw a Mustang parked in side of the road:
  20. Yep, I'm doing great, just working hard before school starts in the autumn to get some money for my 1:1 '62 Chevy II project, so I haven't had too much bench time... A bit of progress with '65 Ranchero has been done, but not much. I managed to win one ET Bracket race with our Stock Eliminator Malibu too. Can't wait to see more updates on this one!
  21. I haven't been able to check in on this forum so much lately, but now that I caught up the new progresses on this thread, I have to say that WOW, you're doing an amazing work again! Everything is looking just right. That steering wheel is one of my favorite parts, the wooden parts together with those bolt ends really finish it off. And your light weathering is a great touch on many parts. Especially I like how the transmission and distributor cap look like. Very nice work!
  22. I have pretty many Mopars in the stash or in progress, but while I'm not a Mopar guy, I've finished only few Mopar Drag Cars. Here are two of my most recent ones, '68 SS/B Hemi Dart and '71 Plymouth Barracuda Pro Stock.
  23. That's a great looking Plymouth! Very nice work overall, but that paint job really makes it stand out, the colors are looking good together and you did nice work with the actual painting process too. Nice job!
  24. That's very cool! Definitely the best looking Trabant I've ever seen! The body looks just perfect on that chassis, it looks like it was meant to be built that way. Did you have to modify that chassis to make it fit with that body? Very cool build, great job!
  25. WOW! That turned out very nice! I'm not a Mopar guy (Chevy Rules !), but this is one very fine looking car, one of the best Mopars of all time in my opinion. You did an amazing job detailing this old and pretty simple Jo-Han kit. I really like how that engine sits in there and very nice detailing finishes it off. Chassis is beautiful, too, those opened header flanges are a great addition! I'm going to build one of these as The Ramchargers' FX car once I order my kit from MCW along with couple of other bodies I need. Yours is a great inspiration for that one!
