  1. Nice work! Great to see one of these built even though this AMT kit is not one of the bests... Good looking paint job and a mean looking stance. It definitely looks like you shouldn't mess up with that in traffic lights! And BTW: It's '65, not '63.
  2. WOW! John does it again, yet another true masterpiece! As always, everything is just right on this build. The overall look is very realistic and you did fantastic work with that paint job. My favorite part is detailing, though. As always, the model is flawlessly detailed inside and out, for example I can't remember when I've last seen throttle linkages behind the gas pedal, as usually they are added to the carburetor only. Also Alclad work on those engine parts is just spectacular. They look exactly like real metal, and that's not easy to do. Really nice work again.
  3. Wow, incredible! I agree with the others, this is not an easy kit to work with, and unfortunately that is often seen on the final result as well. But definitely not in here, fantastic work! The overall look is just right, all parts fit well together and it looks realistic.
  4. Looks great! I can't understand the idea why to make those windows like that. I'd definitely prefer window trims being molded to the body rather than on the windows... But that is the only problem in these new Moebius kits I guess. Yours turned out fantastic! Really nice paint job catches my eyes first, as black is definitely the hardest color to get right. Sharp BMF work too, and little lowering looks good also. Great job.
  5. I've always painted those chrome headlights with gloss white and before the paint dries, start wiping it off from the center so that the chrome will be seen through the white paint. This is an easy and fast way to improve the look, and if you happen to wipe a bit too much paint off, just apply some more paint to the headlights and start again.
  6. Very cool build, you don't see many Willys Lead Sleds built! To be honest I've planned doing a same type of build some day, so this is a good inspiration. Nice work with the body mods, all of the shapes are just right resulting a nice and smooth Custom. Really nice work!

Very nice Vicky! I too like that Flathead with three carbs on it and your color choice is spot on too. Only thing I'd change would be the wheels, as otherwise this build looks really Old School but those modern aluminum wheels just don't look right in there. But that's of course just my opinion. All that matters is that the overall look is very nice and you had fun building it, of course !
  8. Wow! I didn't see this until now, but excellent work as always! I got excited too when I saw the pics, but then I remembered that it's a small scale kit. Anyway you did an excellent job. Great paint, sharp BMF and just right overall look. One of the bests I've seen built from this kit.
  9. These old Group B Rally Cars are pretty cool, even though I'm usually not that much into building European or Japanese cars. I started to get excited about this one already, but Why oh why it is a Curbside?! I think I have to leave it to the hobby shops then...
  10. I saw this healthy-sounding '67 Valiant this week. It was in a very good condition, a nice one! And last weekend at a local Burger-Restaurant I saw this legendary Finnish Custom '59 Mercury that was Customized this way several decades ago. Cool!
  11. Thanks A.C.! That's a great tip that I have to remember next time, as I think I've seen Testors spray paints in some of the hobby shops in here. Usually it's either Revell or Humbrol Enamels that I use in these interiors, so it is indeed worth trying. Thanks! I've been really busy with building my Chevy II, but anyway here's a minor update on the Thunderbolt. Seats are glued in place and I made seat belts for the driver too. Belts theirselves are made by Scale Dreams and belt buckles are Model Car Garage's photo etch pieces.
  12. Yep it's not always easy to find a correct class for these builds, but luckily you can do Bracket Racing with almost anything. And of course there are lots of smaller organizers in the States that have their own classes too that are different from those NHRA classes... But no matter what class this one fits into or where it doesn't, it's a very cool build and so far you've done a very good job with it. Keep it up!
  13. It's always great to see Bill's work and this one is no exception. The subject is very interesting and the Shelby looks much better with that new top than it did before. Great job on the conversion overall, it looks like it came from the box that way. Nice work.
  14. Really nice work on an old Monogram kit! I have several of these as glue bombs and they sure are fun to build! The improvements you did really paid off, as this one is turning out really nice. Somehow I really like that color too. Only problem is that this is definitely not a Pro Stock car as the thread title says. They never drove this old cars in Pro Stock and even if they did, this doesn't match the rules. Luckily it's not too late to change it. Great job!
  15. That '49 Ford is interesting! In the long run I guess I have to pick two of them to build one as a Custom and other one as a Gasser. Those Barris kits are interesting too so probably I'll end up picking them up as well... It's just a shame that the Firebird is 1/16 scale. If it wasn't, I'd be happy to have one of them too.
  16. Nice to see one of these built! It looks like you did a nice and clean job on it. These early '60s Stock/Super Stock/FX cars are all my big time favorites. Really nice work on this one. It proves that you don't need to add lots of detail to make a model look good. Makes me motivated to get back on my Super Stockers!
  17. Here are a couple of cars that I've spotted recently in here: And just this week I heard a rumbling engine sound and saw a DC3 flying in the sky. You definitely won't see those every day!
  18. I've painted many bodies with Badger 250 and that can of air. I think it works great and I've done only good results with it. The reason why I've moved back to spray cans is that I can't seem to find good paints to be used with that airbrush. Revell and Humbrol Enamels are great, but their clears aren't that good... And I have always clear coated my builds... Once I find out a clear coat that will work, I'll take up the Badger again and start using it.
  19. Well, it looks like my Thunderbolt was stalled several years ago even though I've had that light brown interior paint on my shelf for a long time. Mika also managed to finish his Dodge long time ago, so maybe it's time to try finishing this build for now... So a while ago as I ran into a paint problem with my '65 Ranchero, I wanted to have something else to work on while I have to strip the paint from that one... And somekind of Vintage Drag Car was on the top of my list. That, plus the fact that I actually wanted to finish something, made me dig out this Thunderbolt as it should be a pretty straightforward build with no major mods needed. I continued working with the interior. Because door panels and backseat were molded in, I thought I'd paint the carpet flat black instead of flocking it. It's not so good looking, but I guess it'll do. Door panels and backseat were painted with Humbrol light brown which wasn't the best paint in the world as it required several coats of painting with a brush... Overall it turned out, well, not good, but let's say decent. White areas on door panels were painted Revell flat white which is definitely not my favorite paints and it doesn't lay down really smooth.... It's not good, but I'll have to live with it. Door panel lines were highlighted with black and roll bar was also painted with Revell's gloss black and installed on place. Next up will be installing front seats and racing harnesses. Then I also added minor black wash to rear wheel centers. It gives just a bit of depth on them and makes them look a lot more realistic than without.
  20. Wow that turned out excellent! Pro Mods are seen too rarely as scale models so it's always nice to see one. You did an excellent job on this. Paint job turned out nicely and your detailing is top notch quality all over. Really nice work!
  21. Really nice work on the Datsun! This is a pleasure to watch coming together, impressive detail work everywhere on this tiny car. Especially that interior looks just about right. Only thing is that this is not a Pro Stock car as the topic title says. They never drove Datsuns in Pro Stock.
  22. I saw these last weekend while we went racing to West Coast Street Cup race. I was number 1 Qualifier in ET Bracket, but unfortunately Eliminations were rained out...
  23. I agree, HÃ¥kan's Ford is much better with those new wheels and tires! I updated my daily driver as well some time ago. I found original front springs to replace those lowered ones so the front end was lifted up a little. Now it looks like a Pickup should.
  24. A legendary Finnish bicycle manufacturer, Jopo, produced Jopo Rodeos somewhere in the early '70s. They're very rare nowadays and if you find one, they're way too expensive, but I wanted one anyway. So I took my regular model Jopo and turned it into a replica. All I'm missing is the shifter. I have a three speed rear wheel but I haven't found the shifter yet. When I find one, I'll install it together with that new rear wheel. We've been using this to move around in the Drag Race pits.
  25. That Pacer might be worth building. It would be fun little car when built stock... We'll see. Otherwise I see nothing that catches my interest too much. That Nomad would be great, but since it's 1/16 scale it's not for me. I mean, it would be fun to try a bigger scale kit, but the problem is that I had to buy all aftermarket stuff separately as I have zero aftermarket parts, wiring etc for that big scale cars. So I think I'll be passing that one.
