  1. Thanks everyone for the cool comments, thats what keeps me focused now and on track to finish. Almost done with the engine now, got the pulleys on and the plug wires, just need to add some more wiring and water hoses when its installed in the frame.
  2. Im determined to have this one done before winter. I can not look at it anymore in the state that it is in with parts everywhere, the time has come to finish it. The casket is gonna have upholstery in it that looks like diamond tuck, and a tv and other things. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!!!
  3. the picture are a little out of focus (i need a new camera) but getting some more work done on the casket, just need to clear coat over the decals then add the interior and fenders and the trailer will be done.
  4. got the skull carbs alcladed and attached almost done on engine.....
  5. placed sword on valve cover, doesnt have a good contrast but different, and machined an oil filler cap. thank you for all your comments, it keeps me motivated.
  6. Doing some work to the engine...Have to install the generator pulley yet and make a bracket to hold it. I have already turned the pulley on my lathe but have no idea what to use for a bracket, probably going the pe route!
  7. this is looking really cool!!!!
  8. I read it somewhere on this thread but can not find it now, some one was saying they use a spray can of clear that you get from a professional paint supply store. Im thinking it is Dupont clear but I am not sure. I wanted to get some insight in to what brand to get before venturing out to the professional 1:1 paint stores, any help would be appreciated. I would be using over enamels and laquers. I have always used the clear gloss from testors for years but that seems to lose some of its gloss and shine over the years, so i want to try something new.
  9. Thanks everyone for the comments, was gone all last week in sunny california, did not want to come home, but now that im back to turkey town nothing new but here is the painted lower part of the coffin and the fenders, seeing them together I think they look ok.
  10. just had to try the fenders as well not to bad. I have to get ready for work or i would try the orange but first thing tomorrow gonna try the orange to see how the two colors look side by side!
  11. there kinda thick and this is just the visor but im liking them already since its already dry to the touch. Might be my new favorite paint!!!
  12. cool thanks for the heads up, i would hate to have to start off dipping all the pieces in brake fluid if it messed up on me. That is a really cool color seeing it on your truck, nice build. All parts are now getting a base coat of silver now, and will let that sit overnight then start some coats of color!!!
  13. TJ thank you for your comments as far as the doors I am in no way an expert on hinging, in fact my hinges are huge because I used a really thick brass wire because it was easy to bend, some use paper clips cause they are really strong but hard to bend. Check out Dr. Crankys you tube he has a great tut on video on hinging. Well I have come to a decision on paint, (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?) after long and hard thinking its down to two colors. I am not going with the original idea with all the patterns cause there just isnt enough room to lay out good patterns on this truck with the round fenders and smaller body panels, and the casket is even more graphics un-friendly, so its gonna be metallic orange for the main body and casket and purple for the fenders, with some decals on top like skulls, barb wire, and things like that. Not going all out on patterns it will speed up the painting process since these paints say they dry in minutes, never used them so will see what happens.
  14. I have heard a lot of great things bout his kits and parts, and im sure he is busy as can be with the way he does mail order and sends out a catalog, just cant believe that he does not have a website yet, that would make it easier for a lot of people to see his work and easier to purchase thru!
  15. just a little up date painted the gamer pieces for the front of the casket to see what they will look like and trying some patterned decals for the casket paint job, which now im leaning towards boyds pearl orange with decals.....
  16. this thing is absolutly beautiful the colors awesome fade job and that interior, this thing is coming along beautiful. Love it awesome work.
  17. Thank you very much James, just made my order.
  18. I need to get one of these, where did you find it?
  19. not car related but found this untoched still sealed General at my local flea market. Great kit, had one years ago and sold it, was lucky to find another one, this one will get built someday.
  20. Id use them as slump buster builds whip up a few between contest builds
  21. agreed this was a slow crash but what if there was a cyclist on a bike or someone walking, you can do whatever you want with your car or money no matter how expensive the car, just dont get an innocent bystander in trouble doing it.
  22. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=235098&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Here you all go 150 pages of vw rusting and rotting away in the fields, should give some great reference for the rusted out look!!!
  23. My question is how can you counterfeit an auto part? I was thinking it had to do with decals or just using their logo? and im sure the 13 people know who they are talking about now with that out in the open and are probably taking the stuff of ebay anyway. If its copyright infringement they can go after it due to intellectual property. I found that out in the graphics biz I had at one time (reall scary stuff if your on the recieving end of it), and copyright is a gray area all around even if you change up the design a bit. What really cracks me up is them being a car maker, how many times do you see a type of car out there with a specific style of lets say a tail light design and then down the road you see the exact same style on another car, or the shape of the rearend, hood, roofline and on and on and on, now i know its not the same exact down to the last inch or mm, but the thing is they used the idea. I never see car makers in court over that stuff, unless im just not looking.
