Model Cars Magazine
Darren B replied to Darren B's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It is a great issue. Just wish that my shop would call me when they get it in. Ill just subscribe and see what happens. -
I would love to subscribe to the mag, but all the horror stories on here about the covers being shredded when delivered keeps me from subscribing, I like to keep my issues in pristine condition. One of the two last hobby shops in town just dropped carrying it cause it seems I was about the only one buying it. The other hobby shop only gets like 8 copies and when there sold out there gone. I know Gregg has said that it should be hitting the newstand soon. Any news on that?

AT THE BENCH WITH MINI!
Darren B replied to David@MinidreamsInc.'s topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Im not sure how Minidreams does it but with my pattern paint jobs, I shoot clear, several coats, when dry wet sand it, but dont sand thru to the paint, just enough to start taking down the edge, Ill do this about 6 or 7 times, and as you build up the clear and sand in between the coats, you begin to loose the feel and look of the tape edges. For best results use a sanding block instead of just your fingers so its even sanding. -
Another day of building models.

K-123 i built a while back
Darren B replied to seattle62kw's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very detailed build, love the tanks, were those turned on a lathe? -
Still swamped at work however had a few hours last night to work on this little truck. I lent out my good camera so I had to take my pics outside with my back up camera as it does better outside by the garden. Started to work on the interior door panels. Finally boxed in the bed coffin shaped bed cover. Someone on this or another forum gave me an idea to put all the hydros and pumps under the bed to make a cleaner install, so that is what I am going to do. Made some battery shelves for two batteries and the pumps will be behind the axle. All plumbed and wired and working on the hydro cylinders right now. and I am going to hinge the bed so that it will raise up and move to the rear so all this work is not hidden when it is finished.

Awesome build and two awesome kits, I won this one back in january and its an awesome kit, I love what you did with yours. Keep up the awesome work!!!
-
Wow, now that makes me nervous about the lathe and hydrator. The hydrator if that quits can be used just to hold the parts to be dust free till they dry, but the lathe is another story. Ill have to see how long it lasts as now that Its warming up in the garage I will be cutting more parts now just to gauge how long the tool will hold up. Hearing a lot of horror stories on this forum bought the harbor frieght stuff.
-
I agree, I was of the mindset if it was a cheap tool you could be pretty sure it would be in the garbage soon, but I bought there hydrator and its convection, No fan or temp controller and it does pretty good. I also bought a mini lathe when it was on sale and so far I have made a bunch of parts and it still running strong.

Gregg, just wanted to say THANK YOU for all you do, I to have to start my day out and most of all my spare time on the forum, there is no other for me. I also want to thank you for not taking the dissing anymore as well. (Ban 'em) I was getting tired of people griping that the mag was late, and all the negative talk as well, and I am so thankful that you keep it coming (the mag), nuff said on that subject. -
I love this kit, I bought two of them, one for the shelve and one to build, just have not finished it yet, will be watching this one very closly.
