Great choice of a kit for a lowrider. Love the color you are doing an awesome job on this one. Will be glued to this thread now.

Wow, I could have used that tut before I put such big ugly hinges on my 41 chevy pick up. Made the back of the cab really unsightly and the hinges make it look toy like. I agree with everyone else that they do not resemble anything in the real car/truck world. Hopefully for my next build will be able to use this idea. To late to start over. Like everyone else, will be looking forward to your tutorial. Thank you so much for sharing cant wait either....

Best place to buy kits?
Darren B replied to Pastor Plastic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mine is gonna be an indoor flea market called the fleamart, its a store that people rent spots to sell flea market type stuff and there are a few that sell really nice old kits for 10.00-15.00 each. Have found some odd and out of production stuff there from time to time, after that its hobby lobby with the 40 off but they keep the same old kits there not changed up much as my only other local hobby shops (2) are pretty pricy on the kits. For an example a 1/25th kit averages 22.95 each. -
I am getting a love for them too on this build just very exspensive. Went back to the store today and get these and found my bones so I wont have to sculpt them they look like these:they look a little under scale and they had to order them, but if it saves me from hours of trying to sculpt them im fine with that. Then I will stop with the metal and get on the hydros and pumps, wiring so I can finish this thing.

I dont do much decal work, but my thought would be that after you sand the few pieces of dust out of the clear to reclear were you sanded, and if there were no more dust then decal. Or buff out where you would sand with 2000 grit paper with a buffing set of paper up to 12000 grit to make it really smooth. Its just a thought as I have never done it before.....

Awesome foiling job on both, love the 47 that is one awesome kit and you did it justice. Keep up the good work! -
I have a badger, Thayer and Chandler and three Aztec airbrushes all double action, and I prefer the Aztecs because they are as trouble free as you can get for maintenance. As long as you clean them out as soon as you are done with them. When Im done shooting paint i run lacquer thinner thru them, even if using water based paints as Tamiya acrylics. Have not had a problem with the Aztecs at all as long as you keep em clean. this is one of the models of the aztecs that I found at our local open air flea market. Brand new they sold it to me for $30.00. Its the one that I go to first for every paint job, simple or complex because its so easy just load shoot, spray, then clean. Thats it, no adjusting trouble free.!!!

Is MCM going monthly?
Darren B replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree, that would be cool, like take a few from each contest and take like the one for best detail, best interior, and just take a bunch of cool closeups.... On the two issues in a few weeks there just catching up to getting current cause the next issue is April and we are in April so we will be current. I saw on another thread that it went to print (April Issue) so it will be here soon. -
My fav is dupli color filler primer, its great for covering the plastic and it helps hide any pin holes in putty.

My first MCM Issue
Darren B replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Cool, I just sent in my check for the subscription so it will be a few months before I see an issue in the mail box however I will need to keep checking the hobby shop to not miss an issue, I too am wondering if the FEB/MARCH issue is due to show up at a hobby shop. I have to keep going by to see if its there because the workers at the shop never want to let me know if its there or not?!?!?! -
Man awesome booth, that has always been on my wish/dream list....just out of reach for cash thou...If you ever get tired of it Ill take it off your hands some day.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Not much to update, spent the whole night trying to figure out where to put the weapons, and decided the seat was too big and any seat back would cover must of the detail from the back of the cab. So I decided to make a new seat with no back. That way all the detail should show thru. Some of the weapons will be on the doors and some hanging from the dashboard.
