  1. Bruce, I'm guessing you are trying to do all sides of the vent with one piece. Try treating each side of the vent window as a separate piece. Cut the BMF long enough to extend past the longest dimension and just wide enough to wrap around all sides you wish to be finished in foil. Work on one plane at a time before moving to the next. If you notice the foil will bunch in the corner use the #11 to cut off the excess before applying it to the next surface. A thin piece of low-tac tape can be laid between the windshield molding and the A-Pillar molding before apllying the foil. The tape can be used as a guide for final trimming.
  2. Jeff, You don’t mention what black you used. Enamel can be soft and susceptible to scratching. Tamiya white cap polish is not at all aggressive. It should not have created the scratches. If you used the Tamiya white cap polish first, then I suspect whatever you used to apply the polish was contaminated and that is what created the fine scratches. That, or just handling the model could scratch it. I use cotton balls or cotton facial cleansing pads (from the big blue box store) exclusively. If I drop one it gets trashed immediately – easier than going through your suffering. Now that you have to deal with the scratches I suggest you use the Tamiya red and blue cap polishes. The blue is less aggressive. Start with the blue and see if it removes the scratches. If not, then use the red, then the blue and finishing up with white. You can polish right through the paint and need to apply more. Go slowly and use a light hand.
  3. Just pokin' fun at Danno and his stealth emoticons.
  4. I would personally like to apologize for Danno. He hasn’t been himself lately. Seems he’s been trapped under his own personal heat dome here in the desert.
  5. Very nice, Thor! Very, very nice! Glass is exceptional. Clean!
  6. Brett, I'm interested in your decoupage technique for applying those graphics. Could you share how you do it?
  7. Jim, that's a home run! I really like the way all the colors work together.
  8. While I don't disagree that it may be a wash on my part ( and we haven't even factored in the operating cost of my daily driver - other than gas) all other things being equal I prefer to put my $ into the locally owned LHS. It's an all or nothing situation for the LHS. They either get my $ or they don't. Enough 'don'ts' and they're gonners. And thanx for giving me a bonus! Before I only had $.
  9. I made the races as often as I could and I never saw anything there like this. I like this racer, regardless. And those are some special wheels!
  10. OK! That didn't last long. Now it's back to opening a new browser and trying several times just to log in. I wonder how much the GNP has suffered from lost productivity since the switch.
  11. I try to give my business to the LHS, especially if it is locally owned. I'd rather put out my $ to drive to the LHS than pay for shipping and handling. I used to work in a direct response marketing company and I know how big a profit center S&H can be. It just kills me to pay the $ we get charged for S&H when buying a few pieces of photo etch or sheets of decals.
  12. Not only did I have to sign up again, but, Gregg had to make some changes on his end. I'm not sure what they were, but we did have a momentary brown-out here in Arizona. Even after the "new" me I could only log in if I opened a new browser. Then, if I tried to answer a PM I got a 10222 error message saying I wasn't allowed to use the PM feature AND immediately got kicked out. More features are working for me now. I'm optomistic but cautious enough I'm holding off merging the "old" and "new" me.
  13. THAT'S WHAT I'M DOING WRONG! Just where do you put the Glosscote?
  14. Small annoyances - all. I had to create a new account: no history; no profile; no opportunity to reply to PM's even though I received notification of PM's in my email. I can't even log in under my old name. I'm considering a new topic titled "Are the techno weenies running this place smarter than fifth graders? No emoticons can express my frustration and I've saved a couple of doozies for just this situation.
  15. I think your Dullcote is out of date. At least its not carbon fiber decal. No carbon fiber should look like that. I really like the way this build is coming together. It reeks of understated aggression; just no nonsense purpose driven tactical finishes.
  16. Deleting anything older than two years won't allow me to complete my On the Bench write-up. I'll just have to take it straight to the Under Glass section. Harry, you posted eleswhere that the "que" on Danno's escapades is voluminous. I suggest archiving them off-line and the servers will be safe from stress for a long time.
  17. What color did you use (See the gauge cluster picture above) that produced the multi-colored glitter effect?
  18. You're not Harry, but, you are correct. And, Harry did have every chance. I guess he had his priorities wrong. Like trying to decode the new forum. TLAR: a technical modeling unit of measure - That looks about right
  19. Evidently you need this
  20. Scorpions here - at least not in my house, yet; or in my paint!
  21. Why isn't it baby blue with wood paneling?
  22. Great resurrection!.......Killer paint.... b..ut it makes my eyes h... urt...........I love it...... m....and p.....you're not gettin any crushes from me.................
