  1. Don't forget to pack the CA debonder.
  2. Models are like fine wine - they are not ready before their time. I'm glad you're not rushing this to a premature completion.
  3. I will take the time to log in and find your topic again to say: Beautiful work! Excellent results! If you hadn't described it as a model I would have said the bamboo in the first picture is out of scale!
  4. I’ve been following this discussion as well and I feel it is worth the trouble to log into the forum to comment. I agree with Rob. There have been comments here about contest building. I am not addressing that. If contests are your thing then mastering the basics will put you on the right path to trophies. I lurk here all the time and I, too, read the atta’boys, ‘good job’ and ‘great paint’ where it doesn’t exist. To give false praise is an injustice at the least and an insult at most. I won’t do it. Many times I’ve seen the work and read the praise wondering if the praise-giver had his tongue in his cheek while typing. Sarcasm can be easily overlooked when disguised as praise. I hope that isn’t the case. If I do take the time to log on to comment it will be for praise earned or to offer constructive help, constructive criticism. If I can’t offer a solution or a way to a better result I don’t say anything. I’m still learning new things here on the MCM Forum. I wish I new better how to prevent ghosting before Mark Taylor made it so simple and clear in his tutorial (which every one should read). I think a section for just tutorials separate from tips and techniques would be helpful.
  5. You brought up a point I forgot to mention. I too had trouble getting all four wheels to touch down. I ended up enlarging the wheel mounting hole and forcing it down by wedging a strip of styrene between the tire and the top of the wheel well.
  6. Forgive me if this has been asked. I skipped over many posts and hit the reply button when it occured to me that maybe you are using kitchen foil and calling it by the brand name Bare Metal Foil (BMF). Kitchen foil eats blades. I don't have a solution for you if this is the case.
  7. I build for myself. You want lavender check inside.
  8. Thank you. That coming from you means a lot.
  9. Final assembly reminded me that parts cannot be dry-fitted too many times. The front bumper required shaving the outside of the positioning tabs or the fenders will splay out ruining the otherwise parallel panel lines along the hood. Even after this issue is resolved the fenders will not mate with the radiator core support. The positioning tabs on the support are too wide and need to be removed as well. Dry-fitting either the bumper or core support alone will not reveal this problem until final assembly. The exhaust pipes do rest in the general vicinity of the exhaust manifolds. The kit provides two brake master cylinders. The steering shaft locator hole in the firewall is incompatible with the power brake booster. I suggest the end of the shaft that mounts to the fire wall be cut off and the end left to hover under the booster. The trim piece that mounts to the hood is not the same shape as the hood. The fit can be corrected by removing most of the forward , center portion of the trim piece until only the outboard ends touch the hood. The top of the dash sits at a severe angle. The leading edge of the dash conflicts with the windshield. Furthermore, the locating tabs that mate with slots in the interior sides are molded at the wrong angle. Close examination of the box photos reveal the problem existed way back then and was never corrected. I’m tired of this one and on to a better one.
  10. So here she is in all her glory: The kit provides the requisite inoperative hood hinges that are only functional when the hood is down. The hood can be posed in the open position by inserting wedges at the bottom of the openings. The work in process write-up can be found here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=35232&st=0 The kit review can be found here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43784 Thanx for looking! Steve
  11. Jake, look for a PM.
  12. So the interior is done, for now (more on that later). Upholstery painted with FolkArt acrylics and protected with semi-gloss lacquer. Heather gray flocking was used just for Mark Taylor because I know how much he likes shag carpeting. While the following picture is slightly out of focus it is the most representative of the true colors. More in-focus pictures: The final build will be posted in Under Glass shortly. I searched the New Kit Reviews and didn’t find a true review so I’ll post my experiences and resulting opinions there.
  13. Isn't Herald Red Green's nephew? Scary thought that he may be the remote shifter!
  14. Great work! Is Herald your yard boy? Does he do the shift'n for you?
  15. If I remember correctly he spent over 2,000 hours on the 1/12th scale pictured in his avatar. Since this is 1/2 the size should he only spend 1/2 the time?
  16. I don't post many updates either. It takes a lot of effort. I can appreciate your efforts. The counters (as of my reply) listed 30 replies and 1,315 views. If it is replies you desire, then 30 is not many considering the considerable updates you have posted. However, there have been significant views so members are staying updated on your progress. To me that's more important. And, FYI, your personal banner and link to your website really slows down the webpage. It takes a long time to load.
  17. Danno, Danno, Danno, David Morton wasn't at the BBQ either. He flew out earlier in the day.
  18. I was going to take the high road and not say I hope Danno's "new friend" has my good looks.
  19. One day over a 100 degrees and we lose Danno for the summer. I thought he'd recovered from last summer but evidently not. Sad. No senses left to overload. Very sad. Now he's morphed myself and Jones into a new personality.
  20. Rumor yes. However the killing floor that was haunted was across I-70 in the stockyards. I can understand how the story could easily get twisted.
  21. Danno, you are absolutley correct. The arena was inside the colliseum.
  22. WOW! Just WOW! Does your model ever bring back a rush of memories! I remember seeing the concept car at a late 60's Denver International Car Show in the old Denver Stockyards Arena. You have really captured it in scale. Great work!
