1/16 Engine Build
comp1839 replied to Pro Tech's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
actually romell, there are 4-5 different ideas as to what define a bolt or screw. i shoould have said, i PREFER this definition. In the United States, the Federal Cataloging System describes threaded fasteners 0.190 inch in diameter and larger as bolts, and everything smaller as screws (machine screws, not such screws as wood screws and self-tapping screws). it is cut and dry. it is also the definition many bolt / screw manufacturers use in their manufacture and catalogs. the problem with the a fore mentioned definition is if i don't know the usage, do i have a bolt or a screw? the other problem is,.....doesn't a nut have a threaded hole? i guess a head bolt is incorrect since, it goes into a cyl. block. it would be a head screw. same with a main cap bolt. these are what i see as problems with that definition. there are other definitions available. like i said, there are many definitions. look it up and use the one you like best. -
1/16 Engine Build

andy, hate to disagree with you but, what determines a screw from a bolt is it's diameter not it's use. bolts start at 1/4" and go up. screw sizes are refered to by # sizes i.e. a # 10 screw. screw sizes start at #12 and work there way down. hope this helps. edit: and just for clarification they are machine screws. -
turned out nice mike. frame looks great. love the chassis jig.

nice job, derrick. a little clean up and you're golden.

glad to see you back at it, romell. keep at it! -
i'm sorry derrick. your build is looking sweet. have you given any thought to the paint yet?

this is not an uncommon occurance. depending on where the chassis guy wants that motor to sit. the headers can become more like "incedentals" . you can buy them from bickel like that. hope this helps, guys.

i think it's around 24" or so. -
the 4 link mounts on the rear can actually be mounted both ways, joe. the lower holes can run parallel to the face of the rear or they can be installed with a top forward tilt. it depends on the builder, his philosophy on suspension geometry, and horsepower. here is a rear housing with the holes parallel to the face. here you can see a rear with the forward tilt of the bolt centerlines. hope this helps.
-
no problem joe. typically the uppers and lowers are the same o.d.. it's just they vary from builder to builder. right now, bigger is better. i.c. is" instant center". it's the point where the bars would intersect if you continued the invisible centerline of each bar out in front until they intersect. sorry , i just notice i wrote "lower bars". should be just "bars".

that looks pretty cool mike! can't wait to see the finished build. -
joe, it looks great!. i wouldn't sweat the lower bar bar issue. there's like 4 people who would know really what they're looking at. if you want to know where the problem lies, the frame 4 link mounts are low on the chassis. pro mods run an extremely low ride height. or you could move the lower bars up 2 holes. also as an fyi. pro mod 4 link bars are 1 3/8" - 1 1/2" o.d. so, your lower bars could be .0937 or 3/32" dia. tubing. still looks great to me!! oh, and you could move your upper bar down a a hole or so. looks like your i.c. could be a touch long.

looks good, robert. sorry to hear about the door dilema. keep up the good work!!!!!!!! this will be great when you're done!!!!
-
looks great. keep in mind guys, it's nowhere near the dimensions of a stock camaro. as a matter of fact the wheelbase is 7" shorter than a stock camaro. all nhra pro stock cars run a 105" wheelbase. period. this car is shrunk down, layed back, sloped, drooped, narrowed, shortened, closed down, you name it. it's been done to it. fyi, stock wheelbase on a stock camaro......112". same with the mustang........stock wheelbase is 107". still looks pretty good though.

New Book. anyone seen this ?
comp1839 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
if any one should know if this contains the blueprints / dimensioned drawings for the 426 hemi. i would greatly appreciate it. -
thanks dave. i kinda already knew that. the statement was " i never heard of or seen a funny car with a battery". just tryin' to help.
-
i thought i'd let you know that funny cars do have batteries. they may not be used to start the car but, they DO have batteries. that red colored box in front of the puke tank would be the battery.
