  1. i just received my copy of mcm and harry i must admit, all of the articles look fantastic. the person who took the pics of my car is an amateur photographer and he did his best for me. i am not a professional model builder nor am i a professional writer. you made my car look awesome. as far as any comments about my altered being on the cover well, all i know is, i am very happy that my car made the cover. the sprint car is miles ahead of my altered and i'm only too happy to have been on the same cover. i don't know why, who or what makes a magazine sell. i'll leave that to the experts. as for the rest of the magazine. it's killer. all of the how-to's, reviews, interviews and story articles are just fantastic. very well done to all involved.

"grown up" harry apologized (even though he thought he may have been right at the start) for making an incorrect or wrong comment. causing mark to come out with his "more fun to punch me in the crotch" comment. now if only the rest of the "grown ups" would just grow up............ and mark for "public" record i apologize to you. i thought your "they were just trying to help" comment was an attempt to sweep the dirt under the rug. edit: this whole thing had nothing to do with the compressor.....

  4. mark, look you seem like a nice guy. and i truly don't want to turn this into a peeing match but, while i didn't have all 8 ase certs. i had 7 i really didn't want to get into automatics. i spent 3 yrs. of vocational training learning my craft. i've been to 20 or so ford certified training schools (you see we share a common thread i'm a ford guy.). my racing accomplishments include designing and building my own drysump oiling system, building my own aluminum intake manifolds, building my own computerized cyl. head flow bench, building my own 35 foot wind tunnel. should i go on? i can. how about, i competed in the second world's fastest street car shootout in orlando with the only ford powered ford (naturally aspirated too. no juice) to compete. we were qualified until an empty co2 bottle ruined our final pass. i ran a five speed A/dragster in comp. for a couple of years. besides a host of other bracket cars. let's see, oh yeah. peeing contest............ are we done? do i meet what ever criteria it is you and the rest of the self righteous, sanctimoneous jack's on this site need to play here? who died and left you in charge? you figured... what? nick was to stupid understand anything so technical? oh , that's right you were only trying to avoid confusing the kid. yeah, right. while nick may have been wrong for his response. he should still get an apology for the incorrect remarks that sparked his out burst. nick again i apologize for cutting into your thread. and don't worry, i won't do it again.
  5. maybe if grown up dan would offer an apology for being wrong about what he said in the first place (good intentions don't make being wrong o.k.), maybe early attitude nick wouldn't have emerged. just a thought.

  7. dave, i hope you know i was only trying to help. if it helps i'm trying to get a hold of my buddy that tunes an a/fuel car and see if he has any info on the einstein. richard, please don't take this the wrong way, i never said the einstein wasn't a "legit" scoop. i said, i wasn't aware of what an einsein was, meaning my knowledge base didn't include the einstein. your info was great and thank you! dave, if it should matter, i think your nova wagon would be "killer" with this setup!
  8. nick, i happen to agree with you and i hope i haven't stomped on your thread. while it may be the wrong type/ style compressor. it is still the compressor. keep up the good work. mark, i happen to agree with you too but,.....if your going to take the time to scratch build the correct compressor at least give the correct info on plumbing it. bob, i hope i didn't step on your toes but, the location and position of that piece don't lend themselves to where a drier would be located. kevin, model companies make mistakes all the time. it is a modelers choice as to whether to correct them or leave them go. i would, though, expect the "expert modelers" to be expert at something before dishing out "incorrect" information. nick, again my apologies. you're doing a great job. i won't interrupt your thread again.
  9. pvc for the tires and rims? i think some one needs to post some" how-to" on that. awesome craftsmanship ken! ain't 1/8 the bomb? ralph, you know i think your stuff is the bomb! i said it before, sprint cars are like fuel altereds...............that turn left!
  10. bob, i'm not so sure it is. driers are typically mounted vertically and they are typically mounted between the condenser and the expansion valve or fixed orifice.

  13. you may want to run one of those lines forward to the condenser (if it has on one) then back to the firewall.
  14. i have no picture of the model engine or chassis. i do have pics of newer 1:1 chassis' and motors.
  15. i believe it is the model companies attempt to produce what i think was called a muffler in the a/c system. here is a pic of it. hope this helps

  17. have you decided on a plan of attack? in other words have you decided what exactly you want to build? i see you mentioned a vega f/c. if you're thinking of a new nostalgia f/c peter gallen's poverty stricken is an awesome car. i'll post a picture of the car later for you.

  20. dave, just for the record (and by no means wanting to step on any toes here ) the psi blower shown is a screw blower not a roots. psi does make a roots blower. a few other cool things to note would be the forward attitude of the blower on the manifold and the extreme overdrive relationship in the blower drive pulleys. the ADRL alows 70 percent overdrive on a roots type, 128 percent on a psi screw and only 60 percent on a whipple. the NHRA prohibits all screw blowers. hope this helps.
  21. hey paul, don't put that 1/16 kit away just yet. here's a silly idea..........why not just build the funny car kit........ as a funny car. i see quite a few of these kits and to be honest they look awesome. i'm willing to bet you could spend a vast amount of time on one of these correcting the kit errors, detail the heck out of it and end up with an incredible build. plus doing these kinds of up grades will get your scratch building technics honed. you could build it as the Revellution car or do your own version. and with the nostalgia funny car class that exists now, you have your choice of adding a "new" flavor to the car. the skies the limit.
  22. greg, this is beyond super impressive!!!!! the body is looking great from here. the engine gets bonus points! just an awesome job! taking on a pro mod body like this is incredibly hard. keep up the fantastic work. i cannot wait to see this on 4 wheels.

  24. i didn't realize we insinuated you should stop planning a 1/16th build paul. my apologies. i guess we all missed the boat by not asking what skill level do you consider yourself to be at and how much money are you willing to invest (these are questions to ask yourself not to answer here on the forum!!!)? the things that you should consider about a 1/16 pro mod build are: 1) you will need to hand fabricate an entire chassis (the funny car kit chassis is not even close) 2) most all of the suspension parts will need to be hand fabricated. you will need rear shocks, a complete 4 link rear suspension, front struts, lower control arms, rack and pinion steering unit, steering column and parts. front and rear brakes. plus more. 3) you could use some of the motor from the kit. the blower would need to be modified to a 14-71 or replaced with a screwblower. you'll need to make all of the support stuff for the motor (i.e fuel, ignition, monitoring systems). 4) i don't believe the trans has enough sections / gears ( i'm not aware of a pro mod team using a clutch with a 2 spd.) 5) i'm not sure if you can use the rear (what's in the kit?). 6) the kit body will require major surgery to make it even close. the wheel base is wrong. the front wheel openings are way to far forward the rear wheel openings are in the wrong place . the hood and front fenders are wrong. etc, etc, etc, 7) the kit front tires and wheels will work. the rear tires i believe would be to small. you might be able to use the rear wheels. i could keep going but, i think i'm making my point. you need to have a lot of scratch building abilities and even more than that. a lot of patience. these builds take a VERY long time to accomplish. look at the start dates on any of these extreme pro mod builds and you will see what i mean. i don't know what your economic means are (nor am i asking). there is some expense to this, that is for sure. how much work and how much money you are willing to invest in this project are questions you need to honestly ask yourself. building in large scale is an absolute hoot!!!! i wouldn't trade it for anything. the detail one can achieve is only left up to your abilities. if it's for you, then by all means go for it. i only suggest you take a look at what's needed and make a rational decision if it's for you.
