Old Buckaroo replied to tbill's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Good to see you guys getting the kicking the tires and cleaning off the dust. This Summer my Wife and I played as it was just us for the first time in 24 years. I get to model the rest of the year. Rich - what part of Colorado ? -
The Duel Project
Old Buckaroo replied to Stuntman Mike's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I like the sounds of this project - even going for the Dart. Just think there would of been no movie plot if old Dennis had Hemi under the hood ! Terry (Superpeterbilt) modeled a Duel truck after the crash all twisted up - it was really cool ! -
Peterbilt 351 project
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Gator & Gino - Thank you ! Last progress pic for this one. Mudflaps I have my own battles with them quite often. I made a flap bracket out of three pieces of styrene to hold a piece of aluminum wire. The idea is the wire will bend if contacted and it slips right out to re-straighten it or remove the flaps completely for travel. The finial pics are now "Under Glass" Thank you for following this one. -
I'm not sure . . .
Old Buckaroo replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I left a Snap'on ratchet & socket , wrench and prybar in one just like that. As they say No Good Deed goes Unpunished -
This truck was a ebay box o parts combined with an AITM resin conversion. I had to take indoor pics as the wind is really howling here today. Thanks for following and looking in.

Very nice Jacobus, I really like the Canadian sleeper. -

Clayton - I am not sure what I will do for the flaps. First I have to scrounge a pair. Remember all plastic components on this truck came from parts and partial assembled kits. Now I know what not to do on the next one. -
Peterbilt 351 project

Terry I used on of those Detroits. Gator - What do you mean by trailer , that would take up the shelf space of two more trucks . Actually I would like to have an old round front style. -
Classy Fleet Trucks
Old Buckaroo replied to vincen47's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Western - stands out in my mind. Beautiful blue paint and chrome till tomorrow. I had the chance to turn wrenches for them about 15 years ago - I went for a larger fleet which was most likely a mistake. -
Some Rubber Duck questions
Old Buckaroo replied to Stuntman Mike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I always am amazed at how many of us want to build the - RD Mack, Snowman truck, Blue Mule Ford, BJ & the Bear and Convoy truck. I bet when they made these movies and shows they never once thought how these trucks would be remembered and replicated for decades. -
Miles - thanks a million ! I used the RCA cables and all is good. I knew it had to be real simple.

My son had it hooked up to a cheaper quality system before I moved. I can play currently but the sound only comes through the tv and it is just not as great. Nothing more satisfying as the boom of a 50 cal on surround Edited as problem has been solved - Thank you !
-
I can do that tomorrow , thank you .

Sorry to distract your fine build again, I dug out that straight sixer and looked it over and started assembling it. Nothing short of some small sanding sticks, files and a few other tools cant clean up. Not the highest quality but good enough for my applications. I have paid more for worse I should have it finished sometime tomorrow.

I have an Xbox 360 and like to play Far Cry 3 & 4. I dont know how to hook this up to the surround sound system though. Any tips on how to go about this ? My son wont get to come home again till May .

Peterbilt 351 project
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Wow, it has been such a long time since an update on this one. Going to try and get this one on the display shelf . Made window glass out of some clear packaging. There is a scratch here and there but I have to work with what I have on hand. Speaking of, the BMF kinda looks like "Hammered Rat doodoo" . But I kid you not I have had this stuff since I was 15. Yeah - 36 years I have been packing this stuff around with Japanese writing on the backing paper. It has not fared too well and has a lot of creases in it. But I still have it I have no idea where I hid the wheels and tires but they are here somewhere. -
Brian ,I picked up the Detroit In-Line 6-71 from Kens Customs. The quality is really good, a few air pockets but no near as bad those some of those Blown Hemi Engines I use to assemble a decade ago and cost three times as much. Plus it is that white resin that is easy to work with. I would buy 6 more if I could figure out what to put them in.

Revell Kenworth heavy hauler
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Brian, thanks for the vote of confidence. I had forgotten about this post until somebody quizzed me the other day and I had to backtrack to figure out "What the heck ?" I am in the process right now of planning to build one similar without the kit. Thanks for all the advice and tips on this truck. Scottie - Beautiful save ! -
From the pictures I have seen of the real trucks they were pretty plain. I needed a plain exhaust so that was today's project. I stole a pen from my Wife - " Call before you Dig" sure hope she does not need that one - but I have never seen her with a shovel in her hand before Just to tempt my sanity I also made a rain cap which does not show in the picture very well due to background washout. I think this is pretty much it for modifications to the chassis. Thanks for looking in

Ford WT9000 "The Blue Mule"
Old Buckaroo replied to Stuntman Mike's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Only seven grey hairs - that isn't too bad ! What a fabulous build the Ford WT9000 is one of my most favorite trucks. The pictures look super and you did one'heck'of a job for this to be your first semi let alone with a resin conversion. I hope to see you building more trucks.
