  1. Those posters are nice, thanks for dredging that up to lighten my wallet When I was a teen a friend of mine and I would drive into the city with an old '64 Chevy flatbed with livestock racks and hit all the Class 8 dealerships and grab brochures and anything else we could get our hands on. One guy at the International place gave us two caps to get that truck off his lot.. My friend scored a "Peterbilt" buckle one time - they only had one... I bet we were a sight, that old Chevy, two skinny kids with cowboy hats with brims so wide we could of flown away with a gust of wind Boy those days were fun !
  2. This is a cool looking truck - I love those old round cabs and short hoods. My Dad use to drive a similar truck back in the 60's..
  3. Wow JT - That is just amazing from the front bumper to the taillights. Rookie poles ? - I always used those to bust the chains and cables across roads on job sites
  4. Well I certainly like it, excellent workmanship !
  5. These are a bit on the pricy side but check out sites that have G - Scale Model RR stuff. http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/woo/wooa2549.htm
  6. Very Nice build - that black cab looks like business ! I have so been thinking about getting this kit, now I am convinced.
  7. The worse crime is that Hooker logo debuted on "Toy III" and it was hand painted and designed by Bill himself.
  8. Whoa - that shop is way too clean... There was a shop in Laramie WY I went to pick up a used aftercooler. I was like "oh man I would hate to work here - dirt floor" later a HVY duty tow truck driver & I was talking over coffee one night and I mentioned that shop and dirt floor . He laughed - it was concrete but had never been clean. Man I tell you I had seen floors in barns that were less dirty.. Really liking the teaser of colors and the shop !
  9. Best thing - Don't let the details take over and ruin your fun. I burned my self out of "Pro Stocks & WWII Aircraft" from getting to detail oriented. A few little things here and there which will actually be seen are great. The majority of kits that are finished spend their life on a shelf under the "Two foot Rule" (no one gets closer then that to actually see) Now dont get me wrong - if you want to go all out on a kit and plumb and wire it and add packets of resin and photo etch that is cool - but those are best to be built over time here and there between other projects. (least for me) Keep up the good work and looking forward to your color choice
  10. Just saw this - my room I salvaged the bench from when I disassembled my model rr about 10 years ago.
  11. That is really something ! Very impressive work , and I am blown away with the opening doors.
  12. Yeah you dont seem to have a shortage of orange and black Nice start, I am beginning to think all you have to do is shake the box on this type of kit now and its done !
  13. Jesse - thanks for the tip on blankets ! John - Most likely will order them from ModelTrucking Got the engine mounts made, just waiting to find a transmission now.
  14. Didn't want you all to think I am slacking. Got my replacement engine in the mail so I have been working on it. Not to dissapoint Q-tip with my disclaimer I did have to change the fuel filter setup for this old gal. Did not care for the compressor to the turbo either. Yeah Q-tip I know...
  15. John, Nice work on the piping . Man I dont miss installing those exhaust clamps with that little chunk of foil for the seal ! Hey do you know where I can get a "single headlight" conversion for one of these Freight - shakers ?
  16. For once I remembered Currently working on a Cummins engine for the KW Aero that came with a Detroit.
  17. Yep, those are good and for large areas I like this stuff. You can find it at most parts stores. A tip when using any putty get some "green scotchbrite pads" I cut them into 1"x1" squares. Scuff the area up some with your little pad. The green will not remove any detail (rivets & ect) but will scuff the plastic to give the putty some bite other then applying over shiny polished plastic.
  18. That is one nice scratch built trailer. This is the kind of modeling I like !
  19. Thanks guys for stopping in and commenting It is near impossible to take a decent pic where I live as there is never any natural light. This one is a little better
  20. Roger that, I am even more impressed now.
  21. This is the kit that got me back at my modeling bench after almost a 4 year break. I had always wanted these "Aurora " kits when I was a kid but could not afford them. First time I saw this model at a friends house when I was 12 , 39 years later I now have one on my bedside table - although my Wife does not share my enthusiasm. Flesh base color was WWII Luftwaffe RLM 62 with dry brushed Michaels acrylic craft paints. (worked really well) This was a Monogram issue and my first figure kit .
  22. Wow - really nice work, what really jumped out and caught my attention was the injector lines. Where do you find kits in this scale ?
  23. The best place I ever found for oddball stuff like this is Hannants over in the UK... yeah I know but their shipping is not really that bad and Royal Mail is really quick. http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?search=mesh&pricer=1&currency_id=2
  24. I like builds when a person is not afraid to break out the Razor saw and files ! Great start, will also be looking for your updates.
