  1. Nice build so far Brett... she is looking good. Can't wait to see her completed. I have this kit myself and I started to build the chassis up just for a roller chassis. I don't know what it is but I have always wanted to build just a roller chassis out of one of the pro stock cars. Nothing more than the Chassis, rear end, Rims & tires. this is another one of those builds I started a few years ago that is hiding on my shelf....
  2. Thanks Brett, It's starting to take shape thats for sure. Feel free to save the pics for reference. Another reason I enjoy posting my progress pics is that I may be able to help someone else on their builds or show something done a different way. Thats one thing I enjoy about this message board is that all of the members are willing to share there techniques so we can learn from one another.

    VW Cars

Very Cool Builds you have here. But I do have to ask where did you get these rims on this bug? I have been trying to find something this close for a VW Bug that I am going to be building myself.
  5. Thanks Romell....I can't wait to get more details on my build. I was able to get some stuff done this weekend and got some more pics up
  6. Very Cool so far. that paint is looking great. I like what you are doing. That water drop effect is sweet. would love to try that sometime myself.
  7. Very Nice build so far. I am totally digging this car. I love that Green & Black Combo... Looks great. Can't wait to see more of this build.
  8. Brett...Very Cool Build. Looks Awesome. Good job on this.
  9. Part 2..... I started out today with finishing the tubing that was to be attached to the upper mount. I must of made at least 6 to 8 of these because I could not get it right and wanted it to be perfect, I swear I spend a couple hours doing this too Now it was time to make the Lower mount tabs on the rear end. I did the same thing as I did on the uppers. Made the tabs, attached the mount tube to the tabs and then got it into position to glue: Then after that I worked on fabricating the tube that would attach the lower mount to the chassis: Here is the chassis with the rear end removed so you could see the Upper and Lower mounts: Here is a Shot of the upper in place again: Another Angle: was trying to get a shot that you could see both Upper and Lower mounts, sorry about the pic being a little blurry actually the camera focused on my finger versus the rear end:
  10. I was able to get more done on this build over this 3 day weekend. Didn't quite get to put as many hours in as I was planning for but I did get to get about 11 or 12 hours in and pretty happy with what I got accomplished. I pretty much was focused on the front axle and rear end. Here are the pics and Thanks for looking..... I decided that I didn't quite care for how loose the spindels felt in the axles with the Scale Hardware bolts, so I decided that I would add some evergreen tubing and drill it out the size of the bolt so it didn't feel so sloppy: I started out with making attachment tabs for the rear end: After finishing up fabricating the tabs it was time to glue them in place, I had also tapped the tubing of the mounting tube so it had functional bolts, for fit up purposes: Once I had the tabs glued in place I attached the rear end to the chassis and wrapped it with tape to hold it in place while I made tubing to attach it to the chassis: After getting the first tube in place, it was time to make the 2nd one and get it in place as well. at this point I decided to let the glue dry over night and left it like this so my mounts would stay where I wanted them: Once the glue was fully cured the next day I pulled the rear end off leaving just the tabs on the rear end: Here is the chassis with the mounting point in place:
  11. Thanks Richard..... all I can say is I have a little detail going into this build Will have some updated pics posted shortly......
  12. Great work on the Spindels Romell. they look great. I will have to try that sometime. Funny how when we do something the first time it always takes much longer then the next time we do that. been doing that on my 1/16th scale funny car build. some stuff feels like I am taking forever on a few pieces but then again I am redoing some of it to get it perfect...lol Looking forward to more pics
  13. John this build is looking great. I can't belive how fast you do some of your builds. wish I could build that fast. It sure is looking great. I have to ask you whats the best way you have found to cope your tubbing? I have been going back and forth between a round file and taking sand paper and wrapping it around the size tubing I am using. Looking forward to more progress on this John.
  14. I personally us all PPG basecoat clear coat paints.... DBC and Omni lines on my models. on build that I use decals either from the kit or Slixx decals. I spray my coats of base, clear the paint with 2 or three coats, let it dry apply my decals then add another 3 or 4 coats of clear and color sand and buff out. I have never had any trouble with the PPG Concept 2020 Ureathane Clear on my decals or builds. My last car that I clear and decaled I decided to Color sand the clear with 200 grit paper and decided to lay the decals down on that smooth surface since I was going to clear over them. Worked great and hoping to possibly get to color sand and buff the model out today.
