  1. Good points! Some don't like this, but this has been my response................ Blunt, but works!
  2. Beautiful as usual Tom! Your builds always sit "just right"! Lowered, but not unrealistically so to detract, but add to it. When I first saw this kit (I have one), I knew it was based on the diecast as they're identical as far as the body shape. The Revell '64 Chevy has an oh so slight difference in the hardtop shape that I knew it wasn't necessarily a modified reissue. Your photos also look top notch!
  3. A 1962-64 Corvair Spyder coupe would be a good base for making one.
  4. Tapani, you're killing me! I'm simply drooling over that Volvo 1800ES Wagon and Amazon! Gotta save up some Euros down the road!
  5. Oh my lemme see! I've got............. 1955 Jaguar D-Type Longnose 1958 Ferrari Testarossa Pontoon Fender 1952 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante 1961 Aston Martin Zagato Bosica Porsche 356 (cliff hanger that one is with a TON of parts!) ........and some others I can't think of at the moment! Out of those I've listed, the Alfa Romeo has been calling me for some time now. Disco Volante's aren't something you see every day, or even at vintage races for that matter!
  6. Robert, how much memory are you running? You might to try to bump up the RAM a notch...........that may help speed things up a bit. You can check here for inexpensive memory upgrades.
  7. I'm viewing this forum running Verizon DSL with a Dell computer built in '07. I have the latest version of FireFox (I hate IE8!) and have never had a problem viewing pics here or with other sites for that matter. Yes, you MUST have the latest browser and the latest Java software updates to get things to run smoothly as Harry mentioned. What's nice about Firefox is that it will update automatically if you'd like. I also find Mozilla to be a bit more user friendly than IE8 despite what Bill Gates says!
  8. WOW! That sure is some brave cutting Jon!! The approach I had in mind was a bit different, but whatever works! I'll be watching this one too! I also have an idea to replace the side trim "anodizing", but you might have something else in mind for the side trim. Keep us posted...............lookin' good so far!
  9. Alex, I have a soft spot for 1/43's as I do them from time to time. Yours are real knockouts! The paint is flawless! Now I've got the mind to do another 1/43 after I finish the 1/25th I'm working on!
  10. You have to click on "Full Editor" when wanting to make a change on your post as opposed to just plain edit. This will be at the bottom of your text box in the original first post. The page will change and you can see the extra field where you can make your changes. I'd preview it first however to see if the change was made. HTH!
  11. No, I never wrote an article on hinging hoods and trunks..........may do one in the future though! Using an Exacto blade should work just as well for cutting the trunk open----------patience is the key here however as with anything else.
  12. John that is a real BEAUTY!! I'll have to get with you in the future to get some pointers on that dash! I have an R&R resin '58 Olds Wagon that is on my mind for a detailed project, and I absolutely hate the '57 Olds dash in it as it's totally wrong. As far as stillborn projects, for some reason I have this one sitting on the shelf collecting dust................... There was an issue with the driver's side door which wouldn't fully shut, but I've since fixed that. Now, other projects have caught my eye and this one has been languishing for the last couple years. I ought to get it done after I tackle the '64 Olds--------at least I'm 90% of the way there with this Ford.
  13. That looks quite excellent for a rescue job! Believe me, that's not an easy kit to restore or to start from scratch!
  14. I mostly like '60 Chevy's as they came out of the factory in 1960, but yours is SUPER NICE!! Excellent "dechroming" job on the fins and sides! That couldn't have been easy and to keep the original contours yet!
  15. More than likely. But they still make convertibles, and I certainly wouldn't want to roll over in one of those!
  16. Just look at the lines on that baby! Pontiac sure knew how to style a car back in those days! One of the best looking roofline/windshield shapes in the early '60's! John, you have a good eye for details, until now-----I never noticed the off radii of the rear wheelwells!
  17. Yup! Four doors rule! Especially four door hardtops! While I like a good looking convertible, these days they're so common on the streets. I can't remember the last time I've seen a true four door hardtop on the road---------Detroit abandoned those unfortunately in the '70's. Hmmm, I always thought the "flat top" four door hardtop looked better on a '60 Cadillac, but that's just me!
  18. Romell, that looks good! A little different than the way I do it, which is good because my method's more complex! Yes, an exacto blade is what I use practically all the time, as scribing tools never work well for me (takes too long)------and I can't do the model between the knees bit with the string! There would be nothing to build after it gets crushed!
  19. Sigh.............What might have been............. Original design proposal for the 1971 AMX............. Oh well----------we can always create this in scale!
  20. Absolutely gorgeous Bob! My favorite '50's Ferrari racer! Those wheels look fine to me--------some restored ones I see the rims are a bit too shiny. I have this kit along with the upgrade parts.........who knows when I'll get around to building it though!
  21. Hmmm.........a Hornet eh? Y'know, a proper Sportabout Wagon would be mighty nice from that Hornet no?
  22. David, it all looks beautiful from where I sit! I really like the engine details with the decals and such-------it really brings the engine bay to life!
  23. Cruz, that undercarriage looks excellent!! As you know, I'm a BIG believer in detailing the chassis as much as the rest of the car. Might as well if you're going to put so much effort in the engine and otherwise. Yes, it DOES get noticed when sitting on the contest table for those that think otherwise!
  24. Anyone remember the CBS Radio Mystery Theater during the '70's early '80's? I used to listen to that every night and considered it the "Twilight Zone" of the radio. Very good story lines and some obscure but good actors did the voices on that program. A few years ago, I was curious if those episodes were available on CD-------well, I cruised eBay and found all 1300 episodes on CD! No, I haven't been able to listen to all the shows as of yet!
  25. That's been my biggest gripe against the major car manufacturers since the '80's. Forgettable styling thrown in with mediocre quality does not a good brand make. Now they're trying to play catch-up and it's too little too late.
