  1. Awwww Jairus, I meant no foul! I do like to see actual built models on box art though................makes it all the more interesting!
  2. Fine Stallion there Curt!! Ferrari was at the top of their game in the '60's with regards to styling, and the P4 was IMO one of the most beautiful in those days!
  3. You ain't kiddin'! I really wish the American car designer would be a little more daring with their designs than always trying to "play it safe". We sure could use the likes of Harley Earl, or a Bill Mitchell these days! I really miss the days when it didn't take 6 or 7 years to redesign what was already an ugly car (name your poison) only to screw it up even further. GM seems to be getting a handle on style once again lately................I do like their new Malibu, Cadillac CTS, the Kappa twins (Solstice and Sky) and some others. But if they would keep coming up with hits as those, they would have nothing to worry about. Fords' problem is that they have really only one desirable car right now, and that's the Mustang. Recently though, they've had some success with the redesigned Focus-----but that I bet has more to do with the gas prices and not so much with how the car looks. Which brings me to my final point..............I hope with the high fuel costs, (and higher in the future) they don't foist upon us some bizarre looking cars with the thinking of "Well, it's gets really good gas mileage..........they'll go for it!" Can you say..............AHEM.............COUGH, COUGH,...........prius.........COUGH, COUGH.........
  4. 20 Bucks??? Wow, that was a STEAL!! I've got one and needless to say, I paid a bit more than $20 for mine!.............and I got no box with it either! You got a real gem simply because it hasn't been customized to death, and it still has the "plane" emblems on the sides. Those are irreplaceable!
  5. Yeah, standard 1961 issues are the best ain't they?! My wish is to see more '61's done in plastic (models of course-----I'd look terrible in plastic! ) 1961 was a great year for GM as they were getting away from the fin madness, and yet still had the '50's look tied in with much cleaner lines! IMO I think GM also had the best hardtop rooflines that year----------------you can spot a bubbletop a mile away! Chris as usual, that's gonna be a real beauty!
  6. Now they should have used that instead of the illustration!! That is excellent!! C'mon Rick...........wanna give us a hint to what that release is??
  7. Well, I have a few of them......... I like mostly the larger scales. Here's a couple of the 1/12 Danbury Mints that I have.............. I've also got the Danbury Mint 1/12 1964½ Mustang, but I haven't taken any pics of that though.
  8. Thanks for the compliment Abe! The suspension on the model fully works with the rear springs made from brass and scratchbuilt shackles............and the torsion bars work as they twist like the 1:1. There's no working windows on that one, but the doors have a "latching pin" to keep them shut when they are closed. I built the Daytona during most of 2000, so some of what I did may be a little hazy now.........
  9. I dunno what happened to 'em Len-----------I tried looking for 'em also............Maybe Gregg took them down for some reason??
  10. Not anytime soon Clay. That's one of those troublesome models that I come across every now and then. The windows have to be redone because I used the wrong kind of acetate and they're now warped. The '55 Ford is turning into one of those too.......had to completely strip the paint the other day. I didn't like how the metallic purple turned out where I did the bodywork on the roof, so I stripped it down to bare plastic and will start over. The only problem is I ran out of Regency Purple and had to order some more from Paintscratch. I'm a little more particular than usual with this one because I intend to take it to GSL next year-------so I want it to be top notch.
  11. Welcome aboard! Maybe the best advice I can give you is to not try to take on too much too soon! Some newbies try to tackle a lot too soon, and quickly get discouraged because their results aren't what they expected them to be. I'd first concentrate on the basics....................such as getting rid of mold lines and dimples, cleaning up seams, and trying to get your parts before painting to fit as well as possible. Later, as things progress, you can work up to adding aftermarket detail and whatnot. If you're running into a problem DO ask questions! No question is too simple to ask! I've built a Daytona as can be seen in my avatar..............so if you've got any questions about the kit, ask away! And as Shane mentioned...................JUST HAVE FUN! HTH!
  12. Absolutely Fantastic Ismael!! If you hadn't said anything, one would think it was more detailed than it is! I love your "Showroom Studio" shots...............it makes the car look that much more real!
  13. When this kit was first announced, I was going to overlook it-------I'm more of a fan of the '66-'67 models and the '68-'72 models didn't appeal to me. But after seeing how nice and pretty this one sits on my screen, I'm definitely buying one now! Revell will have a solid hit on their hands-------Lets hope they keep churnin' 'em out! Thanks Bill and Len!
  14. Interesting subject Steve! For a second I thought it was a Fiat 500D I didn't know Subaru's of that vintage were rear engined let alone two stroke! You learn something new every day!
  15. Easy Off works for me...........but the yellow can version works much faster if you don't want to wait until next year for the chrome to be dechromed! Also the blue can (Fume Free) version doesn't remove the lacquer base underneath which is recommended if you want a flawless rechrome job. Unless they reformulated it recently, I've not had the Fume Free Easy Off do the job for me. Just be sure to wear rubber gloves if you use it!
  16. Hmmm...........Now that's something I've never noticed! I have a couple of the Monogram '59's and now my curiosity is up. John, is it possible to post a pic of the differences? I can't answer to your resin question........I do know that some resins have a "memory" in that once the part has been shaped (corrected) with hot water-------you have to be careful if you need to wash the body later, not to wash it in hot water again. The resin will tend to go back to the shape it was originally.
  17. Just filled up again this morning after coming from a trip to the MAMA meeting in Maryland yesterday....................it was $3.71 a gallon for regular-----that's up 6¢ from a week ago. The tank was just over half empty and it still cost me $26 to fill up! Hopefully that will last me a couple weeks. Don't like to be a downer or an alarmist...............but guys, it's only gonna get worse from here.......
  18. I remember when those were new when I was in high school, and always thought that was Japan's version of the Mustang! Right down to the roof vents. Good luck with your project Ken! You got a good deal on those two especially if one of them is rock solid. Here in PA, the dreaded tinworm claimed a lot of 'em so you've at least got a good foundation. And yes, please show us progress pics along the way!
  19. Beautiful job on yours Bob!..............I've not seen that in my LHS. I must be out of it or something lately 'cuz I missed those announcements! I guess Revell is doing more with their diecasts into plastic, because of the rising cost of zinc? I sure would like to see them take their really nice '62 'Vette and make a full plastic kit out of that! Hopefully soon.............
  20. Fantastic '55 Luis! Nice finish on the paint too! Super smooth!
  21. Thanks for the pics Dave! That 288 GTO looks HUGE!! It could be just the pic, but it looks to be 1/12 scale or something! ..............And here's a pleasant surprise, Revell doing a '68 Mustang?? I'd sure love to see a regular coupe than the evergreen fastback.
  22. I second that!! For a first time effort, you're doing a great job! That's an interesting take on the two tone....................very nice!-------- and it looks like something Chevy should have offered for '56!
  23. That's lookin' great Len! While I like the earlier Novas a bit better than this generation, I'll definitely be picking this one up because it looks to be done so well! Good idea about not painting the body until one makes sure everything fits well. I got strange looks from some folks years ago when I told them that's what I do. Nothing's more frustrating than getting the body all prettied and painted up, only to find out to your chagrin that it's IMPOSSIBLE to get the body on without scratching/damaging something!
