I don't have any experience with the Jaguar, but I've built the Mercedes Gullwing and Porsche 356 Speedster and both were outstanding kits. Good job on picking up the Jag. I've been looking for one for a while.

Really nice build. I've had my eye on the Revell Germany Bentley Blower kit. Is it the same as the Heller kit?

Well, Guys, never let it be said I don't respond to constructive criticism. Among all the really kind comments a couple of you correctly mentioned that the rollbar on the little Tiger should be placed closer to the driver's seat. I must have known the bar was in the wrong place because I just used white glue to hold it in its original location. I pulled it out, added some rear mounted supports to fill up that space where the boot was located, and this is how it turned out. My photos still stink, but I think the model looks a lot better. Thanks to everyone who made the constructive comments.

Thanks again for the kind words, Guys.

Thanks for the kind words, Guys. Bob, I wrestled with the placement of the rollbar. I didn't want to use the convertible top boot so I used the bar to fill the space. It looked like it would still provide the same protection for the driver so I went with it there. I agree, though, the usual location would be immediately behind the seat. Thanks for the comment.

I really liked the Sunbeams that were posted a few days ago and thought you might enjoy seeing a racing version of the same car. This is the same old AMT kit with many parts added from the AMT 289 Cobra and Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. Paint is Tamiya Spray Pure White decanted and airbrushed. The decals were cobbled together from spares with the stripes and roundels cut from solid color decal sheets. All comments, positive and negative, are welcome. Thanks for looking!

That's a pretty impressive build. Way beyond my skill set!

Nice model of a good looking car. Good Job! Who makes the kit?

Thanks again for all the kind feedback.

Thanks again for the kind comments. Skip, Fernando Pinto has a line of complete kits. He focuses on classic F1 and Indy cars as well as Le Mans and Carrera Panamericana sports cars. He sells them on eBay and has a Facebook page. He's also putting together his own web site that has a link on FB.

Thanks for the kind words, Guys. Harry, I agree those straps need some connection points. I'd been trying to figure out the best way to handle that, but they're something I need to add. Thanks for the comment.

This model represents the Talbot Lago T26 GS that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1950. The car was the first to complete a lap over 100 mph and averaged 89.7 mph over the course of the race. The driver, Louis Rosier, drove all but 20 minutes of the 24 hours. He had to stop to replace a head and needed time to wash up and get something to eat so his son, Jean-Louis, took over for two laps before turning the car back over to his dad to finish the race! The model is a 1/24 resin kit by Fernando Pinto Models of Portugal. While it's basically box stock, I had to replace the fender struts with stiffer material, the metal grill screen because I messed up cutting out the one in the kit, the windshield frame, and added home made hood straps. Paint is Tamiya spray French Blue decanted and airbrushed. The model is far from perfect, but I'm glad to add this important car to my shelf. Any comments positive or negative are welcome. Thanks for looking!

Beautiful build, Dave. What kind of wheels came with the kit? -
Post your "Snap" kits.

Thanks, Angelo. I've been going through my old Model Cars mags and ran across the review of the California Hauler. The author was pretty impressed with it as well. Looks like that kit and the Revell 359 would be good starting points for this branch of the hobby at a relatively small investment. Thanks again for your thoughts. -

Thanks for the response, Angelo. I saw the Peterbilt 359 at Hobby Lobby earlier today. With the trusty 40% off coupon, I can get one for $15. They also had a Round 2 Peterbilt California Hauler. Any thoughts on that kit? Thanks again. -

I hope this isn't too dumb a question, but are all the models in this thread 1/25 scale? The reason for my question is that the only snap kits I've seen of semis are in 1/32 scale. If these are 1/25, who makes the kits? I've built cars for quite a while but never any big rigs. The models here are pretty impressive and I'm thinking about giving one a try. Are there any kits that are generally considered the best? I like the long nose Peterbilt look rather than the cabover style. Any feedback would be appreciated. -
Great project, Curt. I've recently gotten interested in the Carrera Panamericana and the Lincolns were hugely successful in those races. I'll be interested to see how the Patto's Place decals work out. I've had mixed success with them, but have seen other modelers use them and they looked great. Good Luck!

This is the Revell kit of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. In 2005, when the car was introduced, Ferrari sent two cars, one red with a silver nose and another silver car with a red nose both with special markings, on a 15,000 mile tour across China. This model represents one of those cars. The build is box stock with KA decals. Paint is Tamiya Bright Red and Gloss Aluminum spray, decanted and airbrushed, and Omni two-part clearcoat. All comments, positive and negative, are welcome. Thanks for looking!

Really nice job, Bruce. Your Vette proves you don't need a lot of aftermarket stuff to end up with a great looking model.

Looks really good, Keith. I have this kit in my stash. How did it go together? -

Tom, like a lot of things it comes down to personal taste. For me the biggest issue with the kit was the tires. They lacked tread and were way too big. Also, the shape of the nose of the real car tapers and slants downward more than the one on the kit. That was less of an issue, but still noticeable to me. But, it all depends on the level of detail you're after. If this stuff doesn't bother you, then you should build it straight from the box. Phil showed with his builds that they can be perfectly presentable without any aftermarket stuff. I thought the Lotus was a pretty good kit, especially for its age. It went together well for me, but be sure to test fit the location of the engine. The whole rear suspension depends on it being positioned correctly. Good Luck with your builds and have fun. Be sure to post pictures of the finished models. -
