Yeah, with the links CAL posted, at least you can see the "snout" I was talking about on the C and M blocks.
-
Sounds interesting, will the site be down for any of the changes? I know you have been busy this week , but there were some members that named some of the Community builds going on in whatever thread it was where I had asked about a separate Community Build section, and one just started this week for Fox bodied Ford cars, which I joined. I know it will take time, but I thank you for the concideration.

Yeah, they are a pain to get the front cover off of, too. The front cover is bolted to the oil pan!
-
Not all of us can be perfect!! I'm about the same though, I'm a die-hard Ford man, I have two in the driveway, but it seems I have a lot of Bowties on the shelves!
-
I think he did mistype that, CAL. The piece I called the "snout" on the C and M engines was cast into the block.
-
Thanks, Bradley, I hope I'd know a little on them, I had a 76 Mercury Cougar and a 79 Bronco with the 351M, and a 77 Ford LTD with the 400M! When I was growing up, my older brother had Mustangs galore and drag raced a beat up 64 Fairlane that he put a 289 HIPO in. I've been a Ford man almost since the day I was born, and now that I think about it, I see a little of the Cleveland in the 3.8 Liter in my better half's 1990 T-Bird.

If you're going to build the Mach 1 version, you can use the 302 in whatever you need the Windsor style block in, I think there are very few parts shared between the two kit engines, I think just the carb, air cleaner, and alternator, off the top of my head. With a good parts box, you can build 2 complete engines from the Mach 1 kit.

I agree with Mark 100%, don't ise Squadron putties, THEY ARE JUNK!!! I have an Italeri Freightliner truck (not cheap) that was ruined because of Squadron putty!! It shrank and when it did, it warped body parts so badly I can no longer build it! That is the day I threw the almost full Squadron tube in the garbage and started using the bondo spot and glaze putty.

Sorry, but they are not the same. The Cleveland has a "snout" flat mounting surface for the water pump, and in that about 6 inch "snout" is also where the timing chain is housed. The Windsor blocks do not have the snout, and have a regular style timing chain cover similar to that of a small block Chevy. I also believe the valve cover bolt patterns are different. The Windsor blocks would pass for 289, 302, and 351W engines, where the Cleveland will pass for the 351C (of course ), 351M (Modified Cleveland), and 400M, which was a 351M with larger bore and stroke. If you need, I have the Revell 70 Mach 1 kit, which has both the 351C and 302, and will try to take pictures showing the difference.

OOPS, I didn't see that part!!

I used both regular bondo and bondo spot and glaze putty on this stretched sleeper I'm building: It has been some work, mainly due to my near nonexistant body work skills, but it has turned out nicely with primer on it. I've seen both everywhere from Walmart to the local parts stores.

I just checked the link you posted, NICE! If it wasn't for the fact it was an 88 brochure and my truck is a 90, the red tow truck in the chaasis cab pic could have been mine! That's what my truck started life as before the standard dually bed was put on by the previous onwer.

Starting work on my 1:1
highway replied to Jared Roach's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank you! That's just the way I bought it, chrome and all. There's only one spot of rust on it on the front driver's side fender, not bad for living 20 years in the "rust belt"! -
Yeah, if I remember, the payload was only about 500 pounds, the only it could haul was, for lack off a better term, the mail!! I know it had a souped up 4.3 L and AWD, but can't remember if it was turbo or supercharged.

Peterbilt Ultra Cab Is Ready To Go !!!
highway replied to Porky's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Beautiful!!! I especially like the look of the cab with the custom louvered hood. I checked out the ebay link, too. You really need to get that stuff updated on the website, you were making me DROOL!!! -

My better half loved going with me in the "Big Truck" when I was still driving over the road driving a 2002 Freightliner Classic XL! She also loved the factory installed "chicken lights" and chrome goodies. After all, to quote Trace Adkins? song "Chrome", "HER FAVORITE COLOR IS CHROME"!! -
1/16 Dukes of Hazzard Charger to be Reissued?
highway replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm quite happy this kit is being reissued, it has sentimenal value to me. This was the first model I built, with the help of my father, when I was a kid. I lost it in a house fire in 1997, along with the rest of my 200+ kit collection, not to mention the house! I have been quite happy with Round2 reissuing the classic kits, and have already told the owner of my LHS to hold one for me when they are released. This has been one of the hardest kits for me to replace, along with the Monogram 1:16 scale tractor trailer kits. I'm far from being a rich man and can't afford the high collector prices on ebay these kits go for, especially the trucks, for a factory sealed kit. I build my kits and don't see the point in leaving them sit on a shelf. By the way, if you're wondering why I said factory sealed referring to kits like these, I want one I know is complete! -
I thought when I read one of the posts in my email notification, someone mentioned the "Custom" interior option, but now I can't find it! Anyway, if anyone would need pics of the "Custom" interior, let me know, my dually is a "Custom" trim truck, and I would be glad to give you some reference pics, I may add them to my reference thread as well as the diesel engine.

You mean like this: Mine doesn't have the rear wheel arch rust, because they're fiberglass , but the driver's side front has it!! I have a thread in "1:1 Truck Reference" with pics of the front and rear axles and transfer case. Here's a link to it: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30068

WOW, James, nice haul. I'm a little envious, though! The Petty car is the only one of that set I don't have!!!

Almost done
highway replied to rronning84's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I've seen a few ultra expensive resin kits from KFS (I think), but the only ones I know of is the heavy duty trailer from Revell AG or the AMT lowboy. I have never had the Revell kit, but I've had many of the AMTs, and the AMT builds up nicely. -
Look what the postman dropped off today
highway replied to walt francis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Walt, I'm not sure if you were aware of it, but there is a thread called "What Did You Get Today?" in the "General" section. Thanks for posting it, though, it looks like a nice kit. I agree with Ben and Dragline, show us what's inside. -
Who, me or Bradley? If you meant me, it would help if I had a Fairmont!!
-
Bradley, give credit where credit is due! It was Mark who told me the "Box Bird" qualified, I had no clue!
