My latest build will be a 1965 Chevrolet Biscayne wagon. I'm waiting on the body from the Modelhaus. This car will be a replica of the cars the Butler County Sheriff had in 1965. This will be the second one I have built, as I done one for my Father a few years back to replicate his first patrol unit. Running for Sheriff in 1964 , James Hixon won the election on a promise to provide ambulance service to the unincorporated area's of the county, hence the use for wagons. This practice went on till the very early 70's. This build is a compliment car to the Monaco I just finished. It's more or less a visual history of the sheriff's dept. I'm just beginning to assemble part's , but the engine is almost complete. Just need's a few more paint detail's to wrap it up. Thanks for looking, and hope some of you follow along. Dave. 396 BB Chevy. The actual patrol cars were equipped with this very engine. Since these photo's were took, I have added brackets for the AC and the alternator.

I have several of these in my room. Response time is VERY quick . -
Here are the completed photo's of my Dodge Monaco. Built as a gift for a Deputy here in the County I live in. 1977 was his first year with the Sheriff's Dept. The items in the background will go into a shadow box I plan to make in the near future. Thanks for looking, Dave.

Thanks for all the nice compliments guy's. Tom that light bar was so easy to 'spruce up', I don't know why I never did it before. John, Thank you for the tip. I did catch that while I was doing my research for this car. I was afraid that maybe I had missed something else. What I did was just to foil the kit red clear lenses, then re-paint them all with Tamiya clear colors. I dont think it looks to bad, do you? The County plates I had on hand had a '77' , so that's why I went with this year. I also have a 1965 Biscane in the works for the same guy. Waiting on the Modelhaus resin wagon body for that . I have the 65 donor car already. Here's a shot of the rear bumper and lights, and a mock up.

This WIP is my current build. It's for a friend of my dad's, who is a Deputy here in Butler county, Ohio. He had seen the 65 Biscane wagon I built for my dad, (his first Patrol car) and asked my dad if I could do one for him. Of coarse I said YES. My dad's friend started road patrol way back in 77. He drove a Dodge St. Regis. Well since that car was never kitted, resin cast, or diecast I had to settle for the next best thing, The Monaco from the Dukes line up. The car will wear correct county plates, with number 77, and correct door decals with the ' then ' sheriff's name on it, just as it would have been in 1977. I also will build the 65 wagon , also with proper door stars and matching unit number for 1965. Waiting on the body to arrive from the Modelhaus to star that one. Thanks for looking , Dave.

Rattle Cans - who still uses them?
FIREMODELMAN replied to tiking's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Rattle cans are all I have ever used. Never owned an airbrush, and at this stage in life, don't thin I'll start. It' the 'old dog new trick' thing I guess. -
Been searching for...
FIREMODELMAN replied to FIREMODELMAN's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks Tom and Steve. I was afraid this would be my answer. The reason for looking was a build I'm going to do for a friend of my father, who is getting close to retirement from the Butler County Sheriff's Office. The St. Regis was his first patrol car. I'm thinking I will settle for the 78 Monaco, in BC's marking's for that year. Thanks again. -
I've been looking almost all day today for a 78 Pontiac Catalina . Anyone know if one has ever been cast ? I'd even settle for a diecast in 1/25 1/24 scale. I've never seen one, but if anyone has, please let me know. Thanks, Dave.

Yep, that pin stripe works great on models. I use the Gold, Black and White on my builds. Hope you can find some as that would look great on this build. Again, very nice. -
Started on this one last week. I began with an Italeri 377 Peterbilt kit, and will bash it with a Trumpeter ALF kit. I took the sleeper from the AMT wrecker kit, cut and chopped it up to make a crew seating area for 3 firefighters. The frame was stretched 2 inches to allow room for a walk way for the crew. Steps will be made later once I get the fuel tanks on , and get further along. Wheels are from the Pete kit, Tires are from the ALF kit. Just a rough mock up for now, but it looks as if everything will fit. Thanks for looking, Dave.

Very nice build, but the thing I want to know is WHY DONT YOU STILL HAVE THIS AWSOME MACHINE. That thing is awesome. -
Really nice project Bob. If I may offer up a tip or two. How did you plan on going about the huge curve on the cab? I've had good luck in the past on some of my fire truck model's using automotive Bondo for my curve's. I'd start wth some thin styrene sheet, .030 or so, get the base shape, then fill in with the Bondo. It sand's easy and take's curve shapes very well. I would often do 3 to 4 thin coats, sanding and shaping between each layer. Just go alittle easy on the cream hardner, it makes it very hard to sand if you use to much.
