  1. Nice job. Very creative. bobthehobbyguy
  2. Very nice job. Have one of those in my stash just might do a quick build with it. Hopefully it will come out as nice as your did. Did you use Alclad for painting the chrome? Bobthehobbyguy
  3. You've got a great start. What are your plans for the chassis? bobthehobbyguy
  4. Looks nice. How about some more details on the bike? Did you scratch-build the frame? bobthehobbyguy
  5. The build off I would like to see would be Paul Jr, Arlen Ness and Chip Foose. You would see some really nice bikes out of that. The bikes would speak for themselves and wouldn't need the drama and the childishness that this last buildoff had. Arlen has built some really nice bikes and I know Chip hasn't built many but whatever he would come up would be cool. bobthehobbyguy
  6. Randy was also a great historian of the hobby. He was also willing to share his knowledge with others. He not only supported the NNL West, GSL and helped a lot with the local Goodguys shows. Randy you will be missed. bobthehobbyguy
  7. With heavy heart I announce the passing of Randy VanDraiss((12/5/11). Randy was a great guy and deeply involved in the hobby. He particpated and supported the GSL, was deeply nvolved with the NNL West. Randy was always willing to promote the hobby and always there to share and help others with there projects Randy you will be deeply missed. bobthehobbyguy
  8. Well here's my two cents. Its interesting I haven't watched the show for a while since it turned into a bad reality show. Don't care to watch that garbage. In fact I taped it so I could fast forward through baloney. I just fast forwarded through JJ . Too much profanity and talk how he was so great but limited to how he was doing the bike itself. Don't know what Sr was thinking. When I saw the contraption I know there was no chance for it to win. Took third only because there were only 3 places. Paul Jr's was what I expect from a theme bike its art. Not unlike some of the very high dollar cars that win the Ridler award but not always practical. There is more form than function involved. After seeing the other two contenders it was obvious that Jr was going to win. Jesse James. I was not impressed with his profanity - his script was was easy bleep - bleep. Second he didn't recognize the audience he was building for. Yeah a group of hardcore bikers would have been more impressed with his over Paul Jr. however this was a vote open to wide audience that cared more about form than function. His bike needed more flash to win. If he had built something wild but more practical than Jrs he would have had a chance. bobthehobbyguy
  9. Really like the chopper hopper. Reaaly cool design. On the chopper hopper how do you intend to connect the engine to the rear end. I see a standard axle in the back. bobthehoobyguy
  10. Chris, Hindsight is always 20-20. Fortunately it looks like you have been able to preserve most of the work you have done. All the time you spent cleaning up the chassis tubes it probably would have taken about the same amount of time. However I think you need to consider coming up with some jigs to make sure that everything lines up properly. bobthehobbyguy
  11. i am looking forward to see you show how you did the engine. Did you make the pulleys from the flat stock or are you using tubing? Thank you for showing how you do this. it is amazing that almost all of the model is built using the flat sheet. bobthehobbybuy
  12. What type of putty do you use for your body work? bobthehobbyguy
  13. Looks like you got a good start. What about it are you not happy with? bobthehobbyguy
  14. All I can say is this is great work. One suggestion for the from axle is to replace the nuts that hold the torsion bars to the chassis if you weren't planning to do that. I think that real metal nuts would look better since you've replace most of the plastic ones on the rest of the model. Also I suggest you consider taking this to GSL in 2013 I definitely think this model would do well. With all of the references and documentation I would think you should enter this in the replica class. bobthehobbyguy
  15. Nice, very clean build. You're off to a good start. bobthehobbyguy
  16. Great I'm looking forward to seeing it at the nnl west. I do have a question how are you connection the motorcycle engine to the rear end? Thanks bobthehobbyguy
  17. Looking forward to seeing more progress on this one. bobthehobbyguy
  18. Really cool. bobthehobbyguy
  19. Nice job of slicing and dicing. Looking forward to seeing this done. Will you be at the Santa Clara NNL west next year? bobthehobbyguy
  20. Very cool. I do have a suggestion. Instead of the toothpick how about using a piece the size of a 2x4 of balsa or bass wood age it and use it to hold up the trunk. bobthehobbyguy
  21. Nice job. Glad to see you finished it. bobthehobbyguy
  22. Rom what's happening with this build? I was enjoying watching the progress on this one. bobthehobbyguy
  23. I am very impressed with your building skills. It takes a lot of dedication to tear up the previous work when it is done so nicely. Also I think it is great that you are sharing your process for building this car. I hope to able to see this model in person when it is finished. Is there a chance you be coming the the nnlwest next year? bobthehobbyguy
  24. This is very cool. Thanks for sharing. bobthehobbyguy
  25. Nice job. You took an off the wall show car and made it functional. The paints looks good. You said you have a problem with some of the paint but it doesn't seem to show. Any idea what caused the problem? Looking forward to you next project. bobthehobbyguy
