Flatbed brush trucks
kymdlr replied to explorer2770's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
pretty sweet built, This is the first ive heard of the duplicutter. I could use one of those. -
Ive seen the inside but not for being arrested! No Its not a low crime area, officers transport thier own prisoners in patrol cars. This is only used for special events where they anticipate mass arrest. Anyway, finished the interior & made some progress on the cab, just need to add the light bar to the top.
-
I made one about a year ago from the revell 2010 kit.
-
You did a great job modeling the 1:1.looks dead on.
-
Got the cab painted body color & decals added. More detail painting will be done after I clear coat the decals. I didnt realize that their was no door molding on the 1:1 until it was too late. I will have to live with it.

Ive had this idea for a little while after seeing the local PD's 1:1. It has been around the dept. since the mid 90's but has low miles since its only used for special events, so they've kept it around and it's still in service today. Ive taken an AMT f150 promo for the chassis & body along with a monogram f350 duallie for misc. parts. The rest is 100 % scratch built from sheet plastic. Been working on this for a couple of weeks now.

Thanks for the compliments gents!

looks sharp, awesome job on the lightbar detail

Just wrapped this one up. Mostly box stock w/ the exception of carbon fiber on the center console & a shifter made from a clothes pin. Also added Pegasus wheels that didnt fit exactly as I would like in the rear, but makes the car have a staggered stance so ill take it. Paint is duplicolor w/ model master paints interior. I didnt like the stock air filter box so i scratch built my own and added an aftermarked air filter.

looks good.

This kit was one of the first i ever built. Mine was white as well but with a verrry runny and finger printed paint job haha.
-
Looks good. Looking like most of the unwashed squads around here due to all the salt and snow on the roads.

This is my first upload to this forum, but finished it a few months back. This is based on the real units that FHP had in service in the 1990's, based on reference pics. This is based on the new Revell Kit, with a lot of parts box items thrown in.

Purple Power - Where Can I Get It???
kymdlr replied to impcon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know for sure you can get it at auto zone, probably even oreileys. If you are simply removing a part from the "pond" very quickly you dont *have* to wear gloves, but if you plan on cleaning parts off or scrubbing BE SURE to wear gloves, it will leave your hands very oily at first followed by VERY dry and then your skin will peel off! BTDT save yourself the discomfort and use gloves. -
How did you make the vogues? gel pen?

Mini's Johan cutlass vs newage donk trend !
kymdlr replied to David@MinidreamsInc.'s topic in Model Cars
I think it looks good w/ the donk wheels. They fit the car well. -
That paint is sweet! in person does it look more blue or black? in your pics it only looks blue under the light.

what do i use to take off primer
kymdlr replied to hellonwheelz3's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
"purple power" found @ autozone works for most paints. I haven;t had good results with it removing tamiya paints. -
Wow, great clean work for a kit finished in a day!

Trust me I appreciate constructive criticism! Looking at it now, the plugs are a bit large for the size of the motor. I always use random electrical wires that I have taken from random electronics for my plugs. As for The CF covers, I guess I was getting the LT & LS confused when I was looking at ref pics. As for the BMF, It was an old sheet of "ultra bright chrome" which sucks out loud compared to the regular BMF that I usually use. This car is not my best work and has a few imperfections, but overall im happy with it. Thanks everyone for your comments!
