Moebius 1965 Plymouth Satellite news
Exotics_Builder replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
GTR? Grand Touring and Racing Auto Modelers, or GTR Auto Modelers (most often known simply as GTR), in northern Illinois. The main focus is on racing cars and exotic street cars in 1/24th and 1/25th scale plastic models, but all types are accepted and encouraged. The club was founded in 1999, and is part of IPMS/USA (Region 5). The annual summer event was held yesterday. It is NNL style (peoples choice) voting in 9 categories plus peoples choice overall, theme and a special memorial award. -

Revell Display at GTR NNL 15
Exotics_Builder replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
For clarity only, the Corvette is the Pre-Painted version which should be out in the next couple of months. It is separate from the SnapFast kit recently introduced. -

They were being sold by vendors at the GTR NNL 2015 yesterday and were being snapped up. -
Got some photos of the Revell Display at the GTR NNL 2015, held on August 2. http://s150.photobucket.com/user/exotics_builder/library/Revell%20Display%20at%20GTR%20NNL%202015

They're just showing up. NOTE, this is the snap version, not the pre-painted

Working fine A couple minor quirks. Have used MS Edge, but switched back to IE because Norton extensions will not yet work with Edge. My machine is a WIN 8.1 and I have yet to upgrade my 8.1 notebook or 7 Laptop. Just want to wait a few days and see if anything freaky happens.

Started the build. Body and interior color choices yet to be made. It is a great kit Dave. The engraving detail on the dashboard and the mufflers are really nice touches!! -

The insert other media insert image from URL no longer works, but I did insert the image with a copy from Photobucket and Paste in the editor. Your comment of this being a WYSIWYG editor made think this morning to try out a paste such as building a word document and it did work. -
engine detail ?
Exotics_Builder replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Here are a few engine details I've done. But, as stated, it depends on what you want to do and what interests. One friend of mine would only modify the body to what he wanted, then do the primer and that was it. It was some time before he went through a full finish of the model. -

Chip's dad, Sam Foose led the build team for the updated truck. Coddington was not involved at all. -

Same thing here on Photo loads from anywhere. Neither IE or Chorme and Win 7 or Win 8.1. Last time I linked a photo was on July 17. I even tried any photo from a Google Search and the insert just loops. This did not work on Java 8 Update 45 on my Win 7 or 8_51 on either Win7 or 8.1. -
engine detail ?
Exotics_Builder replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The amount of detail depends on how much time and effort you want to spend on that part of the model. I have always found it to be a very interesting, if not somewhat frustrating at times, part of the build. In doing my detailing, I try to be as accurate as I can and try to stay dimensionally true as well. It is alright to sometimes size exaggerate something for emphasis. Another thing to consider is technique. On a modern engine and engine bay, you can detail with judicious use of paint. In other cases, you may want to go the whole route with linkages, fuel lines, wiring, etc. One obvious thing to address on many kits is the "sky hook" alternator or generator. I have seen many wired kits and detailed engine bays where the alternator is hanging in space with no brackets. -
Next up from Moebius ?

Are you forgetting AMT's 65 GTO with a convertible interior but hardtop also provided? Nice thought but too many compromises or extra parts (including bodies in some cases) to likely be practical or that many of would willingly pay for. The nice thing about a convertible kit is that it really gives you a chance to detail out the interior. -

From what we heard at our last club meeting, the delay was due to coordinating the release with Foose. The Revell person who attended our club meeting was not involved in the survey and didn't have vote specifics, but said he was told the Ford, Caddy and Imposter were the high vote getters, but didn't know more than that. On the Foose collection, they will be in the pre-painted series similar to the Camaro ZL1 and upcoming C7. Given the Foose popularity, it is hoped this will get more people into modeling and get them to eventually try more detailed models. Also, for those of us who look forward to models such as the Model A and others, sales from these help funding for other endeavors.

I passed the spare engine on to a friend in Quebec. It also is a nice engine with an automatic instead of manual. That makes it more useful for a lot of options, as I see it.
