Revell-Mercedes
Exotics_Builder replied to PowerPlant's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yep. Don't know what that portends. Hopefully, there will be more info next week from the Nuremberg show. My biggest gripe with the easy build Revell USA offerings is that the chasses are reminiscent of the early 60's AMT's. I really don't care for that! -

At least a 3.0CS! Remember their Premium Bimmers of the late 80's/early 90's? One thing I am concerned on the AMG GT and an announced McLaren 570S is skill level 3. I was told that RoG was enamored with the Revell USA easy builds (C7 Vette, ZL1 Camaro) that those two might be offered as such. -

Already announced AMG GT, love to see Sports Sedans like an AMG E63. -
No more Ferrari car kits...?
Exotics_Builder replied to Matt Bacon's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That is what I have heard from the US side. But RoG is on point, not the US. Supposedly, the 250 is POSTPONED until the licensing issue worked out. I hope so. I do have one unbuilt down in the basement stash, but another might not hurt. -

No more Ferrari car kits...?
Exotics_Builder replied to Matt Bacon's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Given that the F12 came first, I don't think so. There is a lot of difference between the two You know, everybody has their likes and dislikes in car styles. I try to keep an open mind about design. There are a lot of factors that go into styling any car and there will be fans and detractors. For example, I don't like Mustangs, but enjoy that people who do get a chance for one. It is nice to see that Revell of Germany will do a McLaren 570S this year along with the AMG GT. A lot of people will enjoy that, even though the 570S is the lower end of the line and a lot would love the P1. I subscribe to the "it will work out" theory. But there are a lot of candidates for models that would be nice to see produced, especially in the Sports Sedan range. I have a big enough stash of unbuilt exotics that I could go along for some years without getting a new one (doesn't mean I won't ) . There are also a lot of options to do Pro-Touring versions of American cars. I guess we'll just wait and see. -

Not sure where the licensing will go, but I hope it will work out. I am more concerned that RoG sees a car like the F12 and thinks it too much like the 599 to do a version Same with the California T, 488, etc. I know RoG basically orients to the German market and Europe as a expansion of that. But that is somewhat myopic given some of the cars. I can see not doing the FF (even though I think it should have been done), but an F12 TdF, 488, 488 Spyder? Come on. I will now get off my soapbox and take my meds -
IMC 1/25 Mecom Lola T70 Spyder: Donor Parts?
Exotics_Builder replied to garagepunk66's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Mini-Exotics did. I have the full detail kit down in the basement stash (top of second column from right). This kit has a lot of white metal castings for detail, but was north of $125 when new. -

I used a similar version of this about 20 years ago in doing the Lindberg 61 Impala. The "teeth" just below the rear window were too shallow to stand above the paint and I used the technique to apply after paint and before clear coat. -
Arrowhead aluminum
Exotics_Builder replied to LeadFred's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Open a dispute with PayPal quickly. Arrowhead was very good when they first opened but went downhill a few years later. I haven't ordered from them since early on, but others have had many problems. Best to protect yourself. -
Tamiya at 2016 Nuremburg Toy Fair
Exotics_Builder replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
As Fujimi has done a decent 250 GTO recently, along with the previous Italeri and Protar(reboxed Revell AG) versions, I don't think it likely. I could be wrong, but since Tamiya has done the LaFerrari, an FXX-K would be a good extension. This would be in the spirit of the previous Enzo-FXX releases. If they were doing something from that era, I would push for a 250 GT Lusso. We'll find out in a couple of weeks. We could all be fooled and it will be a Maserati MC12 -
Got this ELetter from Tamiya today: The 2016 Nuremburg Toy Fair will be taking place from January 27-Febraury 1, 2016. 1957 Ford Sedan Delivery - Update 01-25-2016
Exotics_Builder replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Work in this progresses. Because of time constraints, I haven’t been posting regular updates. I have less than a week to complete this. The body is in painting, with darker part of two tone to be applied. Then BMF and decals with a clear coat. Hopefully, it will all go smooth. The interior needs a little tweaking, but almost there. Need to matte the floor area as the color is too glossy. The rear cargo is fairly complete. I used Micro-Scale Wood decal sheet for the floor area and it looks pretty good. Detail Master supplied the seat belt hardware along with my go-to of paper bandage tape cut width and length for the seat belts. The dashboard is painted and decals applied. I was surprised to see no radio or heater controls. So, I went to my detail parts stash and pulled out Model Car Garage’s heater and radio generic sets fret and took a reasonable representation each. Since it is somewhat obscured in the interior, it should pass. On the engine bay, I am about 90% complete, needing to: tweak the air cleaner a bit; apply the radiator and then run the hoses; and put in the battery. No super detail on this one, just enough to look decent. Detail Junkee supplied the air cleaner and trim for the valve covers. Detail Master fittings and Pro-Tech hoses for the heater hoses. Model Car Garage wire looms along with Morgan Automotive Detail distributor added more realism. I used my common method for doing a non-working dip stick to add a little more realism. For the wheel tire package, I went into the stash for a set of American Satco wide whitewalls along with Model Car Garage full wheel covers. I drilled an opening to run a valve stem. I just need to clean it up a bit and do three more times. -
Yenko Deuce Engine & Exhaust Donor?
Exotics_Builder replied to Stuntman Mike's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes you could. You would also need to source the specific decals for the Deuce (Fred Cady did a set which I have). The original 69 Nova release (2-n-1) would be a good choice as it has the LT-1 engine, drive train, etc. Another source would be the AMT 70 1/2 Camaro Z/28 which has an LT-1 and does not have chambered exhausts. (I can go downstairs to the stash and confirm any questions on either of the two) -

looking for mechanical fuel pumps
Exotics_Builder replied to LVZ2881's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
That's what I thought from your original post. I don't remember seeing any from resin casters. When I use other fuel pump options, I will usually save the ones that aren't blobs on the block (lot of older AMT engines). Revell has a lot of engines with separate fuel pumps that I stuff in the stash when I don't use them. Wish I could help you more.
