As a lot of you know I just got back into modeling. I am struggling with getting that one great model. I just finished a 1949 Ford and I am not happy with it. But I don't know for sure where to start correcting it. I am posting this next model strictly as an incentive to do a better job on this one than those previously done. I call it the embarrassment factor. Wish me luck and if there are any issues with this kit please let me know. Thank you, all of you are an inspiration to me.

That is an absolutely fantastic build. From the paint job to the detailing it is perfect. I keep trying to get at least one model to finish up like this. Congratulations, great job.

Hello Adam and welcome back to the greatest Hobby there is. I have a friend that lives on Walney Island.

I'm going to put this under glass because I'm done with it, at least for now. I tried a few new things on this one, some worked, some did not. I agree with everyone my idea of the green interior did not work out quite right. But it was the paint I had at the time. I will get another of this model and try a different paint scheme. I can't believe I'm even posting this.

Having already finished the painting I'm kind of stuck with the green. I actually agree it would have looked better using a Tan or black and White combination. I appreciate the comments and will take them to heart on the next one. I don't have any other color to use right now and funds are low.

I have used brake fluid with great results, no damage to model at all

I'm not real sure where I got this but it had already been started when I got it. Primed everything and then painted it white. had some orange peel to repair and then painted it green. Not exactly the color I thought it would be but I;m going with it anyway. Interior same color with dark green accents. Please feel free to comment pro or con.

Darn I was really hoping to see your work bench set-up Jantrix

Busy working on a 1949 Ford. Nothing fancy.

Nice set-up. Could we have a larger picture of that lathe, what kind is it???

Like all working men and women I am looking ahead to when I retire. Especially at my model building time and efforts. Since there are times now when I use the paint I have rather than buy what I want I am fairly sure that will be true when I retire. But I have a plan. I am currently sixty years old and figure on retiring in 6 years. That gives me six years to build up a nice stash of models, paint, glue, sandpaper and so forth. When I am working overtime I will purchase a little each week and set it aside. Now I know that means I will miss out on the newer models when I am retired but at least I will have what I need to see me through my retirement years. I figure I need enough to last me at least five years so it really isn't that many models. perhaps 350 or 400. Any thoughts???

Nice looking GT O Charlie.

What is on your "to build" list?
DRG replied to ian ashton's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Build the ones I have in reserve. And also finish the 49 Ford I'm currently working on. -
Never been a big fan of Corvettes but I would sure like to own that one in 1-1. Great job looks fantastic.

That is one mean looking Nova. If you were to take that out to the street let me know so I can stay home. nice build.

I recently wrote a statement,Thoughts about Modeling. I do appreciate the feedback I received on it, thank you. These are two I am working on right now. I thought I would post these to illustrate what I said. The glass on the 32 came with some kind of smudge on wing glass. Please feel free to comment on either one of these in progress models.

I just recently, six months maybe, returned to Modeling. Like many others I built models as a child of ten or eleven and returned at the age of sixty. I really don't remember much about those I built as a child with the 1940 Ford being the only one I'm sure of. When I scan through the builds posted here and on other forums I see paint jobs to die for, interiors that make one wonder is it real or is it memorex. The detailing of engines and such simply amazes me. The after market items available seem endless. After many hours of frustration there are several things I have decided. 1- quit trying to build a model that is over the top. 2- concentrate, for now, on building basics. 3- try one new thing with each build. 4- slooooooooooooooow down, think, test fit and then test fit again. Oh, one other thing. Build the models of cars and trucks I like. Not what's popular or what someone else is building. Those are just my thoughts.

Where to buy these days?
DRG replied to rust-n-dust's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I will second jimnohio as a great place to buy models. Good selection and good prices. I'm lucky in that I live about three or four miles from him. Place the order pick it up a day or two later. -
62 Buick Electra 225 for the BCAS 'same kit' build.
DRG replied to whale392's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I know some may think this odd but I want to thank you for telling us of the demise of the Electra. I don't know the number of times when I have wanted to do the same thing. So far I have restrained myself but I know it will happen eventually. I was thinking these guys don't have those problems, why do you. Now I know we all, OK some of us, face the same issues. -
That is one great looking 41 Chevy truck. Love the detailing and paint.

You have a picture of one of my old cars. Wish I still had it. Mine is posted below. hey, it's small but functional and comfortable.

One of my all time favorites. I always loved that roof line. Great job on a great car.
