Wanted to ask what would be the correct color for the chassis? Thanks.

I agree with you My gut feeling too is either the AWB Time Machine Chevelle or the AWB 64 Olds F-85 called the Streaker. I'm leaning towards the AWB 64 Olds Streaker.

Why Aren’t Companies Rescanning Old Kits?

My response to the 3rd and 4th statements in paragraph 5. That's exactly the difference between the military modelers and the car modelers. -

Steve, you hit the nail right on the head. I just wanted to add that this is the most cost effective way for Round 2 to release subjects that we have been requesting for years. -

Yes, that's the cost effective way to do it. -
That one was reissued an number of years ago by the Model King ,aka Dave Burket.

It's a good possibility. The drag version of the 69 Coronet, "The Super Hemi" would be a welcome subject. But, I think the mystery kit could be something for the altered minds thinking out of the box. But, who knows.

Think of it this way. I figure 1967 was a key year. The streakers would have 2 years streaking practice in preparation for the big Woodstock fest coming up in 69. And, think of the drugs that took effect messing up everyone's minds back at that time. Perfect time for that to happen. I bet those people will relive that again if they could.

I bet people would freak out if they saw a sreaker.

Well, any word on anything ? Hopefully Round 2 makes their announcement very soon.
-
You're right. Just saw the date on the box. Model King 64 Comet was released in 2005.
-
That one was announced about a two months ago. That's the same kit that Dave Burkett aka The Model King helped get out about 8 years ago.

Those would look great on a diorama clearing a grassy field for runway ME-109's or FW-190's parked in the background.

What would YOU like to see as a model

I saw the pics of those too. Lot of good stuff coming out. Wes's Model Car Corner should be getting the Garbage truck at the end of this week, -

Don't lose hope. Keep letting Round 2 know of your request. -

Actually, I was one those that was banging his head against the wall because Round 2 wasn't reissuing the 68 Coronet. For years, I was mailing letters and emailing Round 2 requesting for them to release the 68 Coronet kit. I also, was from time to time, bringing this topic up to stir interest on this kit subject. I agree with the fact, it's not because they don't want to, but I think maybe the feasability years ago wasn't there because of the cost to redo tooling and or redo masters. Now it's feasable. 3d prototyping, the ability of re-engineering kits is making these lost oldies come back to production . Am I wrong or right? I don't know. But, that's the direction Round is taking now. What's happened now within the last year or two; 2 64 Cutlass kits (a convertible and hardtop), 63 Chevy ll wagon and another 63 Chevy ll wagon with trailer kits. My gut feeling says we'll see other surprises coming down the line of subjects that builders will be doing back flips over when they are announced. Round has recognized that their builder market is into the early 60's to early 70's subjects. Great news for most of us. Lets continue supporting Round 2 by buying their kits and emailing them our requests. They see this message board. They do listen. A couple members here consult with them and we truly appreciate that support. -
What are the very best drag racing model kits of all time?
GMP440 replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I agree. I still have my Tom McEwen Revell/Army rear engine dragster from 1974. The build nice with all the wiring that comes in the kit. Also, that kit came with the Tom Mc Ewen figure. -
That hanger shot didn't start this thread. The AMT 64 F-85 Streaker Altered wheelbase kit was among many kits mentioned by the forum members as possibly being Round 2's big announcement. It's was just speculation, I was the one that asked if someone could post the pic of the AMT 64 Cutlass hanger shot in this thread, because I thought the altered wheelbase parts were in the hanger shot, which some are and some are not. It just happened that there is another kit named the Streaker, which is the Corvette Street Machine kit that was just announced. Anyway, just wanted to clear that up.

Will Round 2 be at the National Hobby Show in Las Vegas next week? Maybe Round 2 will announce the mystery kit at that show?
-
Absolutely. Within a couple years SJR has been the forefront in the release of vintage Nascar subjects. Now, they are well known. They are picking up from where Revell and MPC left off years ago. Manufacturing of these kits are here in the U.S. The kits are priced ok. They are very in tune as to what subjects nascar builders want to see. They are doing well.

Is the 32 Ford Phantom Vicky kit the big annnouncement Round 2 was going to make?
-
So true. Buy today, then Round 2 makes the big announcement on Monday that they will be releasing the AMT Streaker F-85 altered wheel base kit.
