  1. I heard that. It's awful hard to use a cell phone, drive with the other hand and use the turn signal at the same time. I have seen people drive, smoke, cell phone and they are driving with their knees. Make me wonder where they will wreck.
  2. Thanks Brian. I will give this a try and see if it works for my builds. Will look it up today and see if I can find any locally or internet. Richard
  3. Hey Mike. I have not built any Nascar kits before this run of them I have. Looking through the instructions I saw this one has a gas can and a jack. That's pretty neat that the mfgs have included some accessories with the kits. A few years back I used to race 1/10th and 1/8th dirt oval cars and a lot of the people that worked on the Nascars in the shops would be there racing also. They normally didn't have to go to the races but had to fix and repair, paint them when brought back to the shop wrecked. Richard
  4. Thanks Mark. So far this has been a very enjoyable build. Very little cleaning and scraping of the parts. The one I started- Quaker State- has been going very good. When I finish putting some parts together and finish checking everything for fit, I'll prime and paint. Pictures will be coming soon. Richard
  5. Driverless vehicles would probably be a lot better and safer compared to a lot of the things I see about every day with driver vehicles. Common sense was left at home with some of them. Tail gaters try my nerves when I'm already going 20 mph over the posted speed limit. Been a long time here since I have seen any police on the highways checking speed and stupid driving.
  6. Well JC, at my age I won't be around to see this but I think the model companies will have to make some new dies and molds for the electric motors. Electric would have to improve on length of traveling from point A to point B a lot better. With battery technology improving over this length of time, it might be possible. Richard
  7. Now that is a sharp car. I like the color too. Richard
  8. I've owned quite a few VW's in life but never a Ghia. Nice one you have there. Keep up the excellent work. Richard
  9. Very nice build and paint job. I am a sucker for trucks and anything you could carry or haul something inside. In my real life, I've always had a truck of some sort until recently and don't have a thing I can just toss something into and haul with it. Big adjustment and now I just have a Kia Soul. Can't haul much with this one. Richard
  10. Tom I once had a cat and her name was DAMMIT. Name fit her very well. Richard
  11. I've started on one of them and if I hadn't built anything lately I wouldn't be able to tell the difference in the stryrene from then to now. I like the way the parts are fitting and the styrene has a kinda rubber feel to them. It has been a pleasure working on the motor so far. Very little flashing to clean up. The decals don't look that bad, so I will try them first. Guess I had better pick up a few Dale Jr.'s rides before he gets out. Hope I can paint match close enough for any I do. Looks like a lot of spoon painting is going to happen. Richard
  12. I went to Hobby Lobby today and with a 40% coupon I wound up with a Iwata Neo airbrush for $48.00. Bought a few other things but this was a good deal for the brush. I feel I am airbrush poor. Last count I have 9 airbrushes. Each one has a different use setup for it. Paasche H's and VL's for primer, Badger Krome's for general use and Iwata HP-SB plus for fine detail. Maybe the Neo will replace the 2 Kromes for general use. We'll see how it works first. Richard
  13. Thanks all for the very good info. I like the idea of the pin method. This is what I like about this forum. When my brain quits working for a solution, just ask and someone will answer a good way. Thanks Richard
  14. I am asking for a way to pre-assemble a kit to make sure everything fits and-or needs something adjusted before final painting and glueing. I think I have read where Elmers white glue is used and can easily be removed for final glueing. My hands are not that steady anymore so need somehow to hold the part together. What and how do some of you do this? Tape, glue, spit, bubble gum, sticky clay, etc. etc. Thanks Richard
  15. Someone gave me these kits in the mid '90's and they have been stored since then. I think it is about time to make room for some newer kits. I don't know if the decals will work since they are over 20 years old but the parts have never been out of the boxes. It has been a few years since I have followed the racing circuit but it will be a fun and good build. Richard
  16. Very nice Falcon. I had a '63 1/2 Falcon that they put the first V8 in. Wish I still had that one. 3 speed on the column shifting and back then, I couldn't take off from a stand still without spinning the tires. Went through 4 sets of tires the first year I had it. Richard
  17. Nice group. I like the Chev. pickup. I had a real '66 that was green and loved that truck. I still had the original sales sticker that was placed on the windows. I was on an interstate one morning going to work and a deer ran out and totalled the front. Had to have it towed home. Found a grill and luckily a radiator and put it all on. It wasn't the same feeling driving it after that and I sold it. It had original 4:11 rearend. Back then they were farm trucks and needed the different rear. Richard
  18. Looks very good. I don't like Dark blue on anything and the Yellow made it great looking. Richard
  19. welcome. lots of friendly and very helpful people here if you need answers. Have fun with the hobby. Richard
  20. Ron, you have a tremendous amount of patience. If it was mine, I'll say it again, it would have been in the trash can a very long time ago. Hope it comes around for you. Richard
  21. Ray, in highschool I dated a midget a couple of times. I'm not but 5'9" and the top of her head was about just above my stomach. Her parents were normal size and her sister was also a midget. Richard
  22. I picked up a Tony Nancy 22JR roadster and dragster kit today. Been wanting to get into drag stuff and since it has 2 cars in it, I thought it would be something to get my feet wet. The parts look awful weak. It looks like some time spent on cleaning the mold marks and flashing will be in order. Richard
  23. I know the feeling about getting old. I'm a old fart. I belong to a band that I play the steel guitar with and our name is Eddie and the Old Farts. You are not alone here. I'm 72 and still try to do things I used to could when younger but now with vision, shaky hands, memory and old looks, I can't do some I used to be able to do. Have a good time building and let us see something soon. Richard
  24. Ron, you've spent a lot of time on this body just getting it to look good. I hope it exceeds your expectations when finished. I'm sure it will turn out great. Keep on keeping on. Richard
  25. Thanks all. Inexpensive acrylic paint is about all I use anymore. I have to thin it a lot to shoot it with the airbrush. Next one will be better. I didn't spend enough time with the primer sanding and it shows up close. Top coat is Future. I've had the bottle of Future for years and still have a half bottle left. I need to play with the vallejo primer and get it a little thinner for a smoother coat. Richard
