  1. That would be a cool name for a car... the 2015 Mitsubishi Zero! Down here, we still see holiday sale commercials days after the holiday- whichever one- is over.
  2. I feel the same way, Rob. I try to do the same, no matter the circumstances. In other news: A guy I know used to pump gas for a living, when people still did that After working there, he hated Christmas carols. Every year, starting on Thanksgiving, the muzak or whatever they played at that station was all Christmas carols, all the time, 24/7. Did I neglect to mention that he hated Christmas carols? The Hallmark movie channel just had a run of holiday-themed movies. In July... And, I'm sure that no matter where we live, we all have at least one FM station that starts playing Christmas music a few weeks before Thanksgiving. I like Christmas, but there's a point. I mean, I like filet mignon, too,(and maybe I can't spell it correctly) but there are times when a classic Southern cheeseburger is the entree of choice.
  3. Those who are into Christmas crafting need to get an early start.
  4. Way back then I was actually (somewhat successfully) combining that chassis with an AMT 32 Ford. Don't remember why I stopped. But, I do remember that Honey West drove a Cobra- but was it a small-block or 427?
  5. Sehr schoen, mein freund. Not at all what I expected to see done with this kit.
  6. That's looking nice, Mike. Great tire and wheel setup and a nice bit of rake.
  7. AMT did offer a 76 or 77 Mustang II back then. If I remember correctly, it could only be built stock- but with a CB radio and antenna. I got one for Christmas in '76.
  8. When one considers it, what's worse: government taking over our lives, or religion (and, in many instances, one that is not shared by all) taking over our lives? I don't care if someone worships goats and prays to the tuba- fine. Don't force it on me, nor anyone else. No one group, sect, religion, etc, should have an influence in the lives of those who, whether by chance, choice or birth, don't follow it. Nor should religious beliefs be brought into governmental issues. As the lion says: "That's just my two cents".
  9. Congratulations and welcome to the (homeowner's) club! I don't see any kits in any of the pictures...
  10. I know that HL is run by a Christian family and there is a bit of political hubub due to a corporate policy, but none of the stores that I have been in have any in-your-face items at all. They do have some inspirational or motivational items, such as "LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH", which is a good philosophy for anyone of any faith or non-faith. And, honestly, I've never heard any background music in any of those stores, either. What they do sell, which I personally find offensive, is way-too-much Chevy-themed man-cave stuff!!!
  11. My above question was more-or-less rhetorical. I have build models with additional details up the ying-yang and I have built snap kits, right outta the box. But if one examines the logic that I questioned, where does one stop? Seriously- there is a lot of good advice in this thread, almost worth a magazine article...
  12. No hate here, just no reason in my mind to idolize the build or the builder, even though he may be a nice guy, or have credentials.
  13. Spark plug wires, brake lines, then what... at what point can one stop?
  14. He might have "skills", but so do most of us here, or we wouldn't be here. I wouldn't buy ANYBODY'S build merely based on their name nor any affiliation with any periodical or organization, nor their skills in the 1:1 automotive world. I checked out some of his other stuff in one of the links above and yeah, it looks like he builds as I hoped to build when I was 12. No, thanks.
  15. Nice, clean build.
  16. Yep, I'm looking for Pro Mod motor stuff; in particular, a blower and hat, and anything else that would stick out above the hood. The parts are for a Pro Mod slammer that I have in mind. Opinions on the best quality parts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  17. Really, really nice and that interior... holy cow!!! I would definitely be happy to have that on my shelf.
  18. Amen. I haven't stopped building since I was 5- that's 54 years. Through high school, the Army (I've left models behind at many duty stations), marriage, 3 kids, and the other stuff of life as most of us know it. Some people can deal with it, others have... "problems" with it. Too bad for them. We are artists, no different than those who paint, draw, etch, compose, quilt... we are creative people. Not everyone is, and those who aren't have a difficult time understanding the concept. At the very least, I have a hobby that I enjoy. That's more than many people can say.
  19. A couple more. I do apologize for the quality of a couple of the pictures; the fuzzier ones are the older ones (experience helps). ">http:// ">http://http://s889.photobucket.com/user/jbuzz710/media/Old%20Fords/100_5489.jpg.html'>
  20. This was the Revell first issue of the kit, finished about 4 years ago. It's box-stock except for a couple of decals and the column-mounted shifter. I tried painting an eyeball on that. And, I added a basic tach to the firewall with a Wizard's O and a decal, and the front plate is from the "Green Hornet" kit. Weathering was done with some washes, a bit of real rust and some genuine Long Island dirt (I have a good supply of that!) Dullcote protects everything from fingerprints. Your comments are welcome. http:// http:// http:// http:// http://
  21. LOL!!! I remember seeing a light, metallic blue '69 Camaro with an ugly green vinyl top- please, tell me you're not gonna do that! Seriously, that's coming along really nice, as usual. Looking forward to more.
  22. Nice build of a somewhat finnicky kit. Good job on the weathering- not overdone. I'd be happy to have that on my shelf.
