  1. Woooowwww, that's f*****g cool! Excellent detail and little touches all over- very, very cool!
  2. I saw this project at the ACME show last month. Truly amazing, absolutely incredible; a phenomenal work of art that should be displayed as much as possible.
  3. My first thought was "That's freakin' cool!" I really like this model; it shows what can be done with a less-than-desirable kit by using some thought and imagination.
  4. I have one of the original issue kits that I bought when it was new and I didn't know about the inaccuracies until just recently (no, I haven't been living in a cave). I have plans to build the kit as a shelf model of a street machine, probably with parts box running gear, wheels and tires and some other odds and ends. I might even take it to a show or two. As much as I would like to say that the kit or finished model would be 100% accurate I know it won't be but how many kits and/or finished models really are ? I realize that my opinion is bordering on the blasphemous, but all too often, I find myself at my bench or somewhere else, getting way too serious about a model...
  5. Our local supermarket plays Muzak. The supermarket is next door to a retirement community (they have two exclusive gates for that community) (no, we don't live there). The supermarket basically caters to that community. It's disconcerting to think of something by Alanis Morrisette or Van Halen as music for retired people...
  6. Yep, it is kinda funny. What's not funny is how fast time does go by- 1994 seems like a couple years ago... . I guess time goes by fast when you're having fun .
  7. That is very cool, indeed. Really nice work.
  8. vin·tage (vntj) n. 1. The yield of wine or grapes from a vineyard or district during one season. 2. Wine, usually of high quality, identified as to year and vineyard or district of origin. 3. The year or place in which a wine is bottled. 4. a. The harvesting of a grape crop. b. The initial stages of winemaking. 5. Informal a. A group or collection of people or things sharing certain characteristics. b. A year or period of origin: a car of 1942 vintage. c. Length of existence; age. adj. 1. Of or relating to a vintage. 2. Characterized by excellence, maturity, and enduring appeal; classic. 3. Old or outmoded. 4. a. Of the best: played songs that were vintage Cole Porter. b. Of the most distinctive: "Fatalism has coexisted with vintage American overconfidence" (Thomas Oliphant). It's just one of those many words in our language that has multiple definitions.
  9. Does anyone know when those pictures that were taken at the CKM NNL this year will be published?
  10. We had our night out last night; good Italian food with a "nice Chianti"; then saw the Trans Siberian Orchestra at the Arena. Great music, great visual effects. Tonight is for staying home to chill with some wine... then, we pick out a paint color for the trim on the '48 Ford woody that I'm building for her
  11. I'd like to finish some of my long-term (i.e. started last century) projects but I still have another in-my-head project in the wings. I also want to build some of the aircraft, armor and ships that are in my stash.
  12. Getting back to shows (with my wife, no less! ), meeting some old friends and new friends and winning "Best Pickup" at the CKM NNL.
  13. Art, how do some manufacturers provide modelers with well-engraved, curved parts for aircraft, such as fuselages and engine cowlings?
  14. Too much but not enough. Pay the bills/debts off, "help" our kids and grandchildren, get new car or two or three, travel, "collect" a few classic cars, invest in an SBD-3 and a P-38L, build an 8 car garage with a detached 4 bedroom/5 bathroom house, travel some more, build a second home near some salt water, travel some more across the US by railroad, donate to some worthy charities...
  15. The colors sound good, Rich. Are you gonna flame it or use some pinstripes?
  16. I did it once on a Hemi in 1/25 scale. Nothing sophisticated, just black paper cut to fit under the valve covers and heads- it wasn't worth it.
  17. Indeed, Happy Thanksgiving to y'all and yer kinfolk. I hope you have much for which to be thankful.
  18. Scratch and sniff, anyone ?
  19. That is really cool. Is it a model of an actual vehicle or a "what if..."?
  20. But the Kardashians would have to be there somewhere, right?
  21. I'm happy for Brad and Roger Penske, and so glad that the "Blue Deuce" Dodge finally carried a championship. I do hope Dodge does come back in 2014. Re: the engines: IIRC, Roger Penske said that they didn't have an engine failure all season. That's not too shabby.
  22. Very cool, Rich. How about a flathead from one of the current Revell kits, or maybe the Rocket Olds 88? Or, the twin-blown Hemi from the '53 Stude? Tires and wheels... steelies with whitewall slicks. Of course, that's just my opinion. I think Dave would be happy with whatever you choose and honored by your thought
  23. Very imaginative, very freakin' cool !!! I'm sure that will be the inspiration for some similar builds.
  24. They had their "15 minutes" (well, we all know it was a lot more) of fame; something or someone else will fill in the empty space. As with any other show if the genre, as soon as a camera is on the scene, the "reality" disappears and the drama flies. Inept employees, incorrect parts ordered, looming deadlines... whatever happened to planning ahead? (that applies to "American Hot Rod", too). I gotta say that their bikes looked good in person and they did put some imagination in their builds (er, finished products).
