  1. Is it OK to use Tamiya's Clear Pearl aerosol over Testors One Coat Lacquer? Thanks in advance for your help.
  2. Art, is this an old 392 type Hemi or the newer 426 Hemi? The oiling systems might be different. I noticed you had a distributor location on the back of your manifold; to me, that indicates a 392 type Hemi but the oil system pictures look to be from a 426 Hemi- but I could be wrong. You might want to do a little research to be sure.
  3. I never saw a review of this kit and though I have opened mine, I never really checked it out... are there any problems with the kit? Yours came out really nice.
  4. I'd like to see a new '64 Galaxie- not a clone of the still available craftsman/promotional kit. The original kit had working headlights. It was one of the first kits that my Mom bought me.
  5. Very nice build and the color is great for that car.
  6. Jo Han 1967 Plymouth Fury, in the flat box- I think that was the only way it was available.
  7. I'm thinking of using the Paxton blower from the old '57 Ford kit in conjunction with the small-block Ford/EFI setup from a Revell Deuce kit. The output fro the blower would go to the intake of the EFI setup in lieu of the hose and filter; they will be used for the blower intake. Would this be practical or would the boost blow up the EFI manifold? BTW, this will be used in the old '57 Ford. Thanks for any help, ideas or suggestions.
  8. You're welcome, and my thanks to you for this thread. Why am I sitting here working on Veteran's Day ?
  9. I quit back on 4/21/88 with the help of a program called "Smoke Stoppers" at a local hospital. Best $125.00 I ever spent. I have had exactly two cigarettes since then and that's more than enough. I have seen cigarettes kill too many people in my family- my parents, my wife's parents, uncles, neighbors, friends... My sincere good luck to all of you who want to or are trying to quit; I know it's not easy.
  10. You're a lucky person to be able to build a great replica of your own actual race car, not just a "what if..." vehicle. Nice story, nice build. Do you have any other memories that you might be able to recreate in scale?
  11. I had never noticed them before on any other Pro Stock car but it makes sense.
  12. Actually, Nitro Neil started the thread to which I referred titled "L.I.A.R.S. show has been cancelled" in the show/contest forum; I merely added the info that was passed along by Rich A. I believe he was having computer problems for a little while; possibly storm-related. (or check "LIARS CLUB CHALLENGE CANCELLED DUE TO SANDY" in the general forum) Either way, it's disappointing news.
  13. Unfortunately, the show has been cancelled due to the effects of "superstorm"/hurricane Sandy on the Freeport Rec Center. I'm pretty sure I started a thread regarding this somewhere... possibly under shows... I'll check.
  14. I like seeing my stuff in magazines or in other media, but doing well at a contest certainly doesn't hurt.
  15. Super neat build! Looks like it's going fast just sitting still.
  16. I know we have the '69 but I'd like to see a '70 also. We have 53,54,55,56,57,58,59 et al Chevies; granted, they changed over the years but how popular was each one of those model years? And sure, I would like to see some all-new stuff, like a Rebel Machine, a Matador, a '67 or '68 Barracuda, '62 Olds Starfire, '73 Trans Am SD and Grand Am, et al.
  17. The Grotheer car runs what look like steel mud flaps on the rear wheelwells.
  18. Whatever. I'm happy that one of my all-time favorite kits will be available again.
  19. May I suggest a V-10 Hemi?
  20. I have learned that I need to get some shelves so that I can finally unpack my stash and see what I really do have, waiting to be built. I have learned that there is inspiration for builds and life everywhere. I just need to see how and to what I can apply it. I have learned that: "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need". And I have learned how to make good use of saving, copying, pasting and using MS Word. Thanks to all my fellow modelers for their help.
  21. See you this weekend, Dr, Cranky.
  22. Really, really nice build. Great attention to detail. I'd be happy to have a build like that on my shelves.
  23. IIRC, there were some kits produced back in the day with chromed engines. All the better for those hot rods and customs that could be seen at car shows. I'd like to see some of the trailers and the Wheel Horse tractors that MPC produced brought back as parts paks.
  24. Please see the contest and show area regarding the cancellation of the LIARS Challenge that was to be held on 11/10/12...
