Tyrone Malones drag trucks I believe had 4 turbos and 2 sroots type blowers on a 12v71 Detroit. So yeah they have been souped up. Of course now days it is more plug and play with the tuning but you can always add. Up in the art section got some inspiration for you in the form of a tandem axle 1953 Pete hotrod. -

Dang, I love those red chassis on rigs especially with Black or green bodies. Also orange chassis. Great job. -

They do but they are specific for the trailer. Most have the state name and TRAILER or TRL going vertical in the front of the plate number or behind it. -
2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
ARTEMIS1759 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Well here is some intintial build pics of the chassis and all the dechroming I did on the other parts using awesome. I still need to get the cabs so I know if I need to extend this one yet. Anyone got the dimensions of the 12v71 engine so I can hack the 16v71 up to build it? If someone would have one from a Tyrone Malone Truck and would be able to give me dimensions that would be even better. The Chassis is a DM800 Mack so I am just going to utilize it instead of using 10 ton military axles and I think I finaaly tracked down a set of tires. Just need to build some kustom wheels now. -
Would anyone want to cast me some 16.00x20.00 54" Michelin XZL military style tires? (unless someone knows who makes a et in 1:24 and a set of kustom 20 inch dually wheels (8 for a rig with 10 bolt wheels) I got the design and all. Or tell me a good video for casting wheels and tires so I can do my own.

Good stuff. I was just thinking when I saw Nick's progress someone should build one of those fugly CUBE Van, car thing a majigs into a appocolypse car.

I tell you how I would do it is take a scrap piece since I don't have any BMF, paint the piece a rust color then put on the BMF and then try to maybe scuff it with rough sand paper or something similar.

I am working on building the whole body and possibly casting my own wheels if you would be interested in molds for them. I plan to accurately detail the truck so I could tell you what accessories I built or bought to do it. Generally I think the wheels were 18.5 or 19.5" which I could find out. I was actually looking for the model with the yellow wheels but could not figure out who made it because I knew they were more accurate. I also knew it was a 4100 series truck. Which has the same body as a regular pickup but HD running gear and frame. Also I was thinking that most trucks used a twin holmes boom setup that I see unless it was scratch built. There were other companies but holmes seemed to be the most popular. I had to put the truck on the back burner though for another build. The holmes setup is very similar to the ones on the pics. If you get any of this finished PM me so I won't have to scratch build so much

Looks great. If anyone tries a future project like this with a 60-66 Chevy or GMC PU I almost bought a 66 back in the day that was midnight blue metallic and instead of all the chrome bits they were painted silver and it looked sharp as hell. -
Making resin wheels and tires?
ARTEMIS1759 replied to ARTEMIS1759's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think actually I probably designed the 22-24s myself using this design: and if I hit the nail on the head maybe I will start looking into making kustom truck wheels to sell. -
I guess I am curious how to make a set of wheels using resin. The reason being is I found a kustom set of 1 ton wheels (1:1) I would like to make for a rig I am building (say sround 22-24") that no one offers. I am also wondering about making tires. Also would like to make a set of late 40s early 50s 1 ton dually wheels for my 51 Chevy 4100 wrecker I am building since no one has a good early set of duals. Maybe use a regullar disk type wheel and fill in any holes and carve them out myself, then duplicate them? The wrecker needs 18" wheels and tires but I don't want to but a 45 dollar diecast to steal the wheels off of. Then again I could probably cast them from a mold of those wheels. But that still leaves me with figuring out the bigger set. If they turn out I would sell someone the molds to possibly produce them. I am guessing a lot of people have run into the wrecker wheel problem even for a regular truck or something of that vintage. These are the 22-24s I need to make: And these are the wrecker wheels: Thanks for your help.

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD

Well, I got all pepped up for starting last weekend and then...failure! Out of glue and 30 miles from the nearest place. Doh . So now I got drill tomorrow and will get back Sunday and will start then. First order is to get the Chassis together. I found a 16V71 in the parts box but can't get the front end to look correct with that long of hood so I think I will chop it to a 12V71 since it was a display model and the color it was cast in I would say came from the big Dump truck (Terex size but I think it was an IH?). The suspension and chassis are DM800. I may have to add to the chassis to fit the beast in there though. According to my sketchup design (I have redesigned it some) it will need more length. Well, thats what I got for now and will start posting around Monday. Keep the pics and builds a comin'. They are looking great. -

That is correct. I am shooting for Aug 1st so the rig can be in it. I got awesome news on my rigs behalf. I remembered when I first designed it I based it off a Mack 10T M123A1 Chassis and after reviewing an online mil-spec service manual with pics. I got most of the chassis pieces. Just need to get a front drive axle and T case. And bigger tires. Then a detroit V12 and a twin stick trans (any recommendations for this?). Well I will start taking pics this week. -
The original design was a Mack. This is the original: Tried this single axle version but it did not look right to me:

Here is one that took some time to get the chop and everything just right. I would say an economical Diesel maybe running on Fry oil or Biodiesel with an auto unless you like banging gears. The 50 gal Tank or there abouts sits on the back kickups of the frame. Front wheels are 18" and rears are 24". Kustom mirrors and horn cover. The headights sit under the grille along with a set of driving lights. Kustom aluminum parts every where along with flat black make this sinister. Put a Hyabusa and a Harley on the rails.
