  1. i'm willing to give that idea a try; thanks. any resin guys casting these?
  2. yes; the things that get mounted next to the driver and he has to pump the thing to increase fuel delivery. there's usually a Moon style tank in the general vicinity, so maybe the full size gas tank has been deleted?
  3. fuel pressure pumps: do they mate directly to the fuel tank, or a separate tank which in turn pressurizes the fuel tank?
  4. as Carl Sagen implied, to make an apple pie, first you must invent the universe
  5. does anyone have a good way to build (or direct me to a site) Guide style headlights? i think the little bumpy part will be fairly easy, but the lens has me stymied. i've thought of MV style jewel reflectors, but they're really the wrong shape. thanks
  6. correct. we just need $200 worth of paint, photo etched, and aftermarket resin details
  7. these are claimed; thanks for the interest
  8. anyone come up with a venetian blind for the back of their Hudson? my aunt had one with a visor over the winshield and venetian blind over the back window. Ole!
  9. i like those "U" shaped sanders but the proprietary refills are too much for me $$$. took a piece of welding rod & an alligator clip JB welded to the ends and made my own. made 2 sizes but it was not a real scientific process. about the width of your had across the knuckles is right. using wet/ dry sandpaper, i back it with masking tape (blue if anyone cares), cut it in strips to suit whatever i'm sanding, fold it over the end without the clip, and land both ends in the clip. the wire keeps a decent amount of tension and it's cheap. had great aspirations of making several to accomodate different grits and widths of paper (1/4" - 5/8" by eye), but it's so simple to change out 2 is doing me fine.
  10. what was she cleaning - fish?
  11. aftermarket here: http://my.inbox.com/photos/escort500xl/index.aspx http://www.thepartsbox.com/ http://public.fotki.com/KenK/kitchen_table_resin_kits/
  12. i have a set of Spaulding Trucking photo etch load binders (no instructions). anybody want them? first pm can have them. GONE
  13. that's a detail i like to incorporate. never noticed the flare around the base of the radiator cap before, so now i've got to dig out the putty. thanks
  14. read here : http://mrobsessive.blogspot.com/ and do a search in this (& other) forums. he's got all the angles covered.
  15. thanks. next one, i'll leave the flair intact. and fill those pesky detents!
  16. there's some thought provocation here: http://cs.scaleautomag.com/sca/tips_techniques/f/10/t/107674.aspx
  17. '32 Ford grille - often i see dimples in the sides about mid height. is this a prototype detail? and for what? or just a place Revell has provided for symetrical headlight placement? same grille, i have seen a flare around the edge. i always sand mine off, but i've seen some respected builders finish up their car with it on. prototypical or models detail only?
  18. often i have questions about the art of automotive, so i will try to keep them all in this space. currently, my only interest is in traditional, "period correct" hot rods, so most of the querries will be directed in that direction. And my recent obsession with '40 & early '50s jalopies. they're just so, err, visceral. again, the essence of the sport.
  19. gets back to the whole philosphy of modeling: do you build, or buy?
  20. i think you want a trapezoid not a rectangle
  21. is this 1/25 scale, or bigger?
  22. nothing beats the horseshoe radiator grille. just read that Norm's original T bucket had a giant dice shift knob.
