  1. i always click "view new content". and i initially read threads with descriptive titles. or at least titles which make me curious what the thread is all about. unless, and i know there's cross posters out there, i read something in another forum about the same car and then come back here to dig around and find out more poop. so i'd say the most important thing in having your post read is to give it an interesting title.
  2. now you'll find all those parts under the bench!
  3. if you are just getting back into the swing of things, scale back the plans for a couple of models until you feel comfortable with the advances in kit detail, materials, and building again. you'll soon discove what a great resource the internet has become for - well, everything! have you joined here yet? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=5 if you need it, someone there will help you.
  4. my take is that chrome plated plastic doesn't look like real chrome anyway. strip all of your chrome, do the clean up work, and rattle can it silver. a little information on the vehicle in question would be helpful. Revell '29 pick up? if you need help, don't make people guess!
  5. .01706 is what i got. Bueller? Spicoli?
  6. i think breathing lead, burning slag, and grindings don't help much, either. but if you get 90 years of fun out of it, maybe it's all worth it. http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Bill_Hines http://www.ahrf.com/legends/bill-hines/
  7. all this Hudson business is great. my uncle had a dealership and Aunt Helen had a Hornet, two tone blue, with every accessory offered. visor, tissue holder, spotlight & rear window venetian blind included.
  8. Pro Weld is good in its place. i have good luck with thicker ACC glue* and use it like the old model cements. i squirt a bit on a square of waxed paper, tip a toothpick in it, and dab it on whatever i'm trying to stick together. i am always fighting the urge to use more adhesive. any amount, and less of that, is usually plenty. i put the adhesive in or on the female part of the assembly if possible, and then any excess is squeezed into the joint instead of out of the edges. *i've used several kinds and have finally settled on Gorilla brand. it's fairy thick gel - like the Ambroid of the olden days- readily available if i run out on a sunday afternoon, and about half the price of hobby brands. works for me - YMMV
  9. the coupe looks like it could get the job done
  10. oh .... well, the seats look really cool! OP - did you encounter any unusual challenges assembling them? did you use an photo etch folder? superglue? thanks
  11. (personal opinion) most models with working features share that malady. perhaps that's something to consider at the planning stage: working features at the compromise of the overall appearance, or fixed with a better presentation? next: front wheels turned or straight ahead. stay tuned!
  12. just remember .. "a new broom sweeps clean, but an old broom knows the corners." think about it
  13. good idea. any full car shots of the Hudson available?
  14. not inexpensive, but good: https://www.tamiyausa.com/articles/feature.php?article-id=222 then there's the art tapes: http://www.grafsticktapeandlabel.com/
  15. do we glue tires to the wheels. or just press fit?
  16. i never thought of modeling as a "kid's" passtime, but i always thought i was too young to be spending the $$$ it took to build great stuff. now that i can spend the money, i don't have as much time as i'd like to actually build. at some point, it will even out!
  17. those look wicked cool. what's the webs for?
  18. good choice
  19. no kiddin'. 15$ bag, and you couldn't even fold it over closed.
  20. dual (in line) rear wheels
  21. model airplane canopy for the driver?
  22. let's just break it down: Jody has 4 apples and Mary has 2 lemons. Now, a freight train leaves the station, travelling East at 3:15 pm. Superman flies around the world so fast, it becomes yesterday. How many oranges does Dennis have to give his teacher?
