I had this HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE . . .

That would actually be a great diorama. I grew up watching the DOH. -
What Slows Down Your Builds?
2000-cvpi replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well for me it's my family, wife and two kids. Our lives are pretty full right now, with a healthy dose of yard work, house related things that need to be finished. We also foster baby kittens for a local animal rescue. I would do almost anything to have a few extra hours in the day for model building. Right now I am doing what I can to stock pile kits that are ready for paint to hold me over for the winter when I won't be able to paint. -
New Lindberg Sportsman Class Racer's
2000-cvpi replied to regular guy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
When I looked at the picture earlier, it wasn't the picture that I see now. Sometimes when I use my phone to view this site, the pictures that are linked do not work correctly. -

I think your middle picture is not a model kit. It may just be me though. -
I went to a small second hand store and found a Plymouth Valiant that is almost complete for one whole dollar. I got this in a trade.

What's the deal with Johan
2000-cvpi replied to Kaleb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think it was down a while ago. It's too bad really, I think there could be a place for them in todays market. -
Art, You really need to write a book on the model car industry, history and the like. Your knowledge is incredible.
-
That looks real, very good work. Using a less common kit like the Johan Cadillac is a good choice.
-
That is really cool. The look of the show is just like several actual car shows that I go to. I like the orange Falcon and the figures. They look just like the real thing.

I guess the hard work paid off...

Congrats on the win. What does the jacket look like? -
I got sticker shock at the local hobbytown USA. They had a Tim Flock 55 Chrysler for 40.99 and the new parts pack by AMT two sets of tires for 18.99. I didn't get either, even though they both looked great.

What I meant was the Barnes and noble nearest to me won't start stocking the magazine until December at the earliest. At least that was according to the store employee who I talked to.
-
I don't know how the seller could have shipped that much stuff for twenty bucks. It's a great score for that price. Lots of neat parts that should make for some real nice kit bashing.

According to the book jockey at Barnes and noble, my local store won't be getting the mag until at the earliest Christmas. He told me that corporate only seems them magazines basedon that stores sales for the category the mag is in.

Michaels 50% off coupon!
2000-cvpi replied to Miserable Soul's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The cashiers here are not to friendly. Not to mention they are either older than dirt or young enough to not have a drivers license. Either way, I'm not smooth enough to chat with either group. The best I can do is to have my six year old daughter buy a kit at the same time. -
I just ask them to Pay It Forward
2000-cvpi replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree completely. It's amazing the boldness some people have these days. I waited until I had over 100 posts before I started trading on this site, and I shipped first so that the trader got my half before they sent my half of the trade . I also would not ask for something free that I knew someone else had to have bought. -
So which book store can I find the magazine at?
-
I bought three new colors of spray paint today. The best part it was at a discount store for .75 a can.

REBUILDING OUR HOUSE
2000-cvpi replied to Tom Setzer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Best of luck getting your house squared away. I hope your guy area gets bigger and better. -
Mr moto, That is a very nice looking Dusenberg you have there. I have that same kit and well have to build it sooner than later.

What's the deal with Johan
2000-cvpi replied to Kaleb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It would at the very least give me a goal to aim for, it would be very neat to read. I figure that I have 30 out so years to amass the kits that I want from Jo-han. I have a ways to go, but there are a few of the more rare and expensive kits that I don't have an intrest in. -

2000-cvpi replied to Kaleb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would love to see a group picture of all of them. Or even just a complete list of every Jo-han kit made with the variations of each. I thought that I was doing good with about 35 unbuilts and twenty or so built ones. -
I really don't think it's actually signed, more likely stamped on. How would an elderly gentleman sign such a small signature I'm such an awkward location.

I just read all nine pages, holy cow I have never seen such amazing work. Fantastic doesn't even come close to describing the work that has been done so far. I am in awe.
