  1. It's actually staffed by overworked, underpaid people trying to stay alive as quotas get raised.
  2. Not sure, but I remember a bunch of Palmer kits my uncle gave me and an old Meyer's Manx multi kit. That was the first one I built on my own. I wanted to make the most of it so all the extra parts just got glued all over the place. I wasn't allowed to paint anything because my mom knew I'd make a mess.
  3. For me, I usually strip the paint and start again if I'm not happy with the paint job. As a rule, the prep work is almost more important than the actual paint. I have built several and missed mold lines or scratches and not seen them until after the paint was done. I'd say maybe dunk it in the purple pond and try again if you're not happy with the results. The other option is to try to wet sand or polish the paint.
  4. This and the 60 and 63 Fords are definitely on my list of gotta buys. Someone does need to ask them what 'Constriction Clean Up' means. LOL
  5. To my wife's dismay, I discovered Amazon JP has terrific prices on JDM kits. I got this one for $14, though the shipping was high. Next time I'll wait and combine several kits to make it a better deal.
  6. Not sure what area this belongs, but I have a technical question. I'm trying to order from Scale Production but it tells me my password is wrong and wants to send me a prompt to reset it. The problem is I don't get the prompt. Anyone have a contact? Or a workaround? Edit: Never mind, I just started a new account. Guess that's the workaround.
  7. I don't really have many 'Holy Grail' kits left to look for, but I do have a list of 'Wanna Finds'. This week I went to WIld Bill's Hobbytown in Dallas and found two of them. The Fujimi Pantera is a kit I've wanted for 10 years but always lost out on at auctions. The other is the Audi Quattro. I used to have the Tamiya version, but this one will do nicely. In addition, I got the Talladega off a clearance table, and the VW truck is something I've been wanting to order for a while. If I understood right, the original Wild Bill's location has been closed and the new Hobbytown locations in the area are called WIld Bill's Hobbytown.
  8. Drifters and tuners use these a lot. It makes it easier to remove the front cover to replace in case of damage or to work on the engine.
  9. Is there a retailer similar to Model Roundup that deals primarily in import kits? I used to have one years ago, but I lost the website and can't remember who it was.
  10. Does this paint eventually harden to the touch or will it always stay soft or tacky? I remember how old Testor's silver, brass, and gold would stick to me even a year later.
  11. Since they are redoing the 60 and 63 Ford trucks, maybe they can tool up a nice straight six engine to go with the Falcon Ranchero? It could then also be offered in the second issues of the too newly retooled trucks as well. Also, here's hoping they'll release the go-kart with the Bonneville body shell, too.
  12. Thanks for the heads up, I just placed an order! I lived in Austin for years and didn't know they were there.
  13. That looks really cool! What kit is that?
  14. Living in the northern part of the Texas Hill Country, we see a lot of agriculture related stuff and I've noticed over the last few years that some local ranchers are buying these used Japanese Kei trucks for use. I'd like to see some in kit form. I know there is a kit of the Subaru Sambar in 1/24th, but are there any for these other vehicles? I'm thinking Daihatsu Hijet, Sambar of course, Suzuki Carry, and Honda Acty. There used to be a three wheel Mazda truck too, but I think that was 1/32 and I prefer 1/24th and 1/25th scale. eBay hasn't turned up anything, but I thought I remembered seeing other kits.
  15. Maybe whoever owns the molds could reissue it and I wouldn't say no if they tooled up a set of Euro market bumpers to go with it. Much sleeker looking in my opinion.
  16. I prefer plastic kits, but I look at die-cast to fill in spots that I can't get otherwise. I also look at the scale accuracy and proportions as well. I only buy in the 1/25th-1/24th range and a lot die-cast makers especially the cheaper price point ones seem to be of the "Meh, close enough," outlook.
  17. Over the last few years I've been trying to collect all Monogram's Exotic Car line, but the Capri II has eluded me at a decent price. Does anyone know if Atlantic or someone else has the molds for this kit as well as the other kits in this line? I have a thread on the history of these kits and hope to start building the kits I've collected by the end of the year. I'd sure like to have this kit too! It was released in a couple variations, but this is the one I had as a kid.
  18. No, just a base 2WD shortbed. No power anything, 4 speed manual, the basic truck you might have seen everywhere 40 years ago.Probably nothing special to anyone but me.
  19. Because I'm a glutton for punishment and also because it's the only thing for sale in my area, I'm thinking about try to decant some Rustoleum and spray it through an airbrush. Add to this I came across a stash of 30 cans of all different colors. The question I guess, is does anyone know what the chemistry is on Rustoleum paint is? I know it takes forever to harden out, so my guess is it's old school enamel, but does anyone know for sure? Can I use maybe lacquer thinner or something?
  20. I just got my dad's old truck. It's rust free but the paint's showing through due to desert sun. It hadn't been started or moved since 2004 or so. I hope to get it running by the Fall.
  21. I wonder if the AMT 1967 Mustang chassis would work under this kit? It is pretty well detailed.
  22. I'd love to have a couple of the updated G-Wagens. I also came across one of the cheap R/C 1/24th ones and the Jurassic Park 6 wheeler die-cast in the same box.
  23. I don't want to be ungrateful to AMT for these new retools, but I'm wondering if they might also redo the 1960-1963 Falcon kit as well one of these days? Maybe the Ranchero kit could provide the chassis?
  24. I tried ink jet printing on laser paper and it looked like this. So that's my guess.
  25. I haven't built one for a few years, but it was decent for an 80s MPC kit.
