  1. You can go for a safari look. I can't seem to post pictures right now, but you could do one up in a Camel Trophy look.
  2. Not many Hummer H2 models I guess. When looking for inspiration, I always do an image search on Google for ideas. https://www.google.com/search?q=hummer+h2&biw=1525&bih=709&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0ahUKEwiPvp63xvrJAhXzjYMKHfsAAXQQ_AUIBigB&dpr=0.9 Lots of them out there in 1:1. Most are kind of cheesy with rubber band tires, but there are some cool ones too. It just depends on what you are looking for. You might also look at the stuff done to other vehicles like the Rovers or Gelandewagens for ideas.
  3. I look forward to seeing more. I love local short track and Sportsman type cars so much more than the Nascar type! I just wish there was a website specializing in photos of local short track type cars.
  4. S.C.o.T Flathead V8 or Ardun Ford would be great, as would be an early Cadillac or Olds option if they are determined to push a GM powerplant.
  5. I would still like the option of a street stock version. The other thing I would really like is a 40s-50s Bonneville/Lakes style car with vintage speed parts. A Doane Spencer building option would be great as well!
  6. No kits as such, but I did get $50 dollars to buy what I wanted. Plus I got to go through my kit stash which is at my MIL's house. There are a whole bunch of kits put away in boxes that I had forgotten I ever bought, so it was almost the same thing! LOL
  7. It does indeed have a good 6 cylinder in it. I used some leftover hubcaps from the Black Widow 57 Chevy.
  8. I would love it if they would/could do a census on all the molds. Take them out and see just what is there. Maybe they already have, I don't know. The other thing I wish they could explore is doing what Polar Lights did years ago with the old Universal Monsters and retool molds based on an original copy.
  9. I plan to purchase a couple of copies of this kit. Are there pictures of other racers who used this platform? I haven't found any yet. Also, I am thinking of using one as the basis for a Nova sportsman on the order of Dale Earnhart's old racer. Suspension and engine would probably be different, but would it otherwise be viable?
  10. First model? Great job!
  11. I'll be following this. I just saw this kit in the hobby store and almost got it. Now I'll have to go back!
  12. I recently found an eBay built-up of a kit that I had as a child. It is the MPC Datsun Pickup. It had been built poorly and painted with what seems to have been automotive touch up paint over the bare plastic which scarred the plastic. I've been sanding and priming for days and just got it smooth enough to repaint. With any luck I'll soon have an inexpensive recreation of a kit that I destroyed long ago. Hopefully, I'll take better care of this one!
  13. Ten or so years ago, one of the die-cast companies made a series of cheesy Walmart/Jesse James customs to tie in with the Monster Garage fad. Most of them were pretty bad, but at least with a little kit bashing, I got a 1/25th 1957 Chevy wagon out of it. Just wish I had bought a few more now!
  14. The model companies have to do what they have to do to in order to survive. They need money to produce kits to sell in order to make money to put out kits. It's the whole circle of corporate life. While I would love to see them be able to partner with GM, Ford, or Chrysler and release a whole string of new models every year, that doesn't seem likely at the moment. Let's face it, the model kit target market is aging and a younger group of builders doesn't seem to be knocking down the door to get in. Kit manufacturers are becoming, in effect, a niche market. One that I really love, but there you are..... They have to break out of that. Revell is trying a different direction to see what happens. We need to support them by buying kits and also support their efforts to widen the market. Just my humble opinion.
  15. I really love these! What scale are they?
  16. Amazing build, man!
  17. It's not to imply that any one is unscrupulous. I have known a couple of people, whom I like, who make more buying a rare kit and selling off the sprue trees or individual parts than they would in selling the kit as a whole. It's simple economics. Sad though. It's like a guy who is selling his prized car for whatever reason to someone who wants it due to its originality only to find out that he parted it out and kept only the frame for his hotrod or something.
  18. It bothers me more to see kits broken up. Apparently there are people who will buy a vintage kit and part it out. Selling the hood, body etcetera, even the box separately. I was told that you can sometimes make twice the money selling a kit that way than whole.
  19. I once asked Bic pens how come the cheap regular ball point pens have a hole in the top of the caps. They used to be solid. I got a reply that it was a liability issue that some kid might put it in his mouth and choke. The hole was so some air could get through until help could be given. A lid is kind of big, but maybe for the same reason?
  20. Maybe someone could forward this to Revell along with all the positive reaction. They've already got the start of a '32 in their current '32 kits. Just need the bellytank. I'm getting tired of making my own! Lol!
  21. I'll be watching this. These cars are near and dear to my heart. I might have one of these kits somewhere. Hope so.
  22. It's good to see a kid doing something with all his fingers, not just his thumbs. Mine only play video games these days.
  23. That is interesting. It's hard to imagine when those aircraft were just seen as junk and scrap.
  24. You're making a good start, have fun!
