  1. I'll have to get at least one copy of this child-hood (hyphenated for effect) favourite. I last built one in 1985 (high school) ; it was the red version with better wheels and a different scoop. Hopefully this 2-in-1 will include the not-Centerline wheels (Cragar S/ST ?) , and better tyres.
  2. Rumour has it that it's already in the shop for a TSB-come-recall.
  3. My Calico was friendly only with those with whom she was acquainted. She'd vocallise like a mountain lion ; a cry that would wake me from a dead sleep (haha). Molly was 80% blind --she could only differentiate between dark & light-- but was a playful hunter ne'er-the-less. As long as she could hear what she was playing with --she loved to knock-over the paper waste basket and swat the balled-up paper-- she was fine.
  4. Torties and "Tortie & White" ( Calico, alternately) certainly are 'super girls' . Though the marques aren't breed-specific, there must be something in those genes which make them excellent hunters that're full of resiliency. I had a Calico (Domestic Shorthair) from November 2002 until her passing in August 2019. She was a shelter rescue as well ; 6 months old when I adopted her. There's a feral Tortie whom lives on the apartment property where I live. Her name is Shelly ; she's an old super girl , too -- must be 20 years old, no exaggeration.
  5. I agree completely. I dig on the restored/ retooled 1963 Nova Wagon and the 1964 Olds Cutlass / 442 hardtop & convertible. Both Round2 and Moebius pack their kits with lots of extra parts ; the advantage of the latter is interchangeability ( F-Series , and now the Nova 'twins') .
  6. Especially when comparing lemons to oranges and grapefruit. And , generally speaking , I'm not on a mission to knock any manufacture's kits' contents ; compare content to pricing , and new tool vs. old tool vs. restored tool.
  7. Thanks much! There's one decent spot outside of my apartment for outside photo shoots. It provides a nice background as well. Thanks much! It was a fun build. Thanks much! I've decided to leave off the bumperettes as they're too big , resembling something one would see on a bumper car. The stock Cutlass tail panel and lamps are a nice design on their own ; I couldn't see attempting to "improve" upon the original design. Thanks much! I recommend this kit and its convertible relative. Thanks much! The custom wheels practically beg the builder to use them ! I decided against adding the knockoffs, as they didn't look good in this particular application. Thanks much ! That sounds like a fun project ! Whose work is the resin copy? Thanks much! Pontiac Engine Blue Metallic is a delightful colour. I've been wanting to paint a body in that colour for quite some time, and I finally got around to it. The custom fascia looked too sweet to not use it. Thanks much! The paint lays down nicely, with one caveat : its consistency is thin (what metallics aren't thin?) , and is prone to settling and separating. Shake the can often when spraying (between passes) and you should be fine. I painted in 30 degree weather, and had no problems. Thanks much! I love the lines of the 1964-1965 GM A-bodies, and the custom parts lent themselves very well to the car's lines. Thanks much! Get yourself a copy or two if you haven't already.
  8. It would seem , unfortunately , that Revell's et al. kits which are moulded in the USA have that issue with the plastic. The Dodge Ramcharger seems to have similar issues ; I cannot attest to that specific kit. I do have the LUV , but didn't get far with it: the cab's rear section --a separate piece-- is ill-fitting ; the backlight doesn't want to fit very well. Back in the box it went.
  9. I can't believe how low their prices are especially when compared to Round2 et al. prices.
  10. Thank you , one and all ! This was a fun kit to build , especially the custom version. A few boogers revealled themselves after paint and clear which didn't appear during the body work / prime / wet sanding process. I deepened the panels' lines and ran some Tamiya Panel Line Accent through them . That's where that nick on the fender came from (3rd image).
  11. Thanks much for the updates , Tim. The correction / modifications of the DLO are quite recognisable . I didn't realise just how convex the backlight is and windscreen 'wraps' are.
  12. THAT is one gorgeous Monte !
  13. What a precious little love bug ! Mum must've had a late-in-the-season brood of chatons . May he bring to you and yours many happy and healthy years of companionship !
  14. They were referring to the sainthood of those with enough patience to complete one of these ancient kits -- especially the iterations with two-piece tyres , and 100 cubic inches of chrome plating.
  15. Other than a couple of touchups and the addition of rocker panel faux side pipe embellishments, this one is done. Paint is Duplicolor Pontiac Engine Blue Metallic , cleared with Testors Gloss Clear Lacquer . Interior is Tamiya Semi-Gloss Black with some subtle gold accents to tie in with the grill's centre. Finished as a curbside "just because". Comments , praise , critiques , and ad hom. attacks are all welcomed.
  16. My favourite dystopian 80's film ! The opening vignette was filmed at the Santa Fe Railroad Switch Yard in Downtown Los Angeles (Santa Fe x 6th Street Bridge). The 'They Live' graffiti was done up by 'CBS' (City Bomb Squad) or maybe 'LOD' (Loks On Dope --- the crew which the world famous CHAKA was part of).
  17. That is one sweet Edsel ! The de facto upgrade of the engine & transmission really make it -- same engine family at that ( FE = Ford-Edsel ) though I believe that the kit's original engine was of the M-E-L ( Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln ) series . Ne'er-the-less... I'm glad that you're still around. I was wondering where my Cymru brother'd disappeared to. Mari Lwyd !
  18. Thanks much for this , Tim ! I positively love the extra parts (including , but not limited to , a 4-speed and its bellhousing) ! I'd be keen on building a phantom L-79 out of it .
  19. I get that - that they were gussied-up to attract attention. I wonder why the 1965 iteration of the 396 in the Chevelle was a one year only hydraulic lifter 375hp engine (L-36 ? L-37 ? I can't recall at this moment) ? I worked at one of the dealerships which received one of the Z-16s : Don Steves Chevrolet (La Habra, Ca. -- one of John Force's earliest sponsors. R.I.P.) . I wish I'd had the wherewithal to enquire about it in detail ; at a minimum , enquired about lithographs of the photos of the car and the attendees on that day. I was surprised that Cone Brothers Chevrolet (Fullerton, Ca. --R.I.P.) didn't receive one, especially given their likewise performance-orientated prowess. Oddly (or not) , Friendly Chevrolet (Rialto, Ca.) received a copy via the Los Angeles Zone (which ostensibly covered all of southern California). There used to be a list of recipients of the Z16, but I can't find it now...
  20. I never understood as to why Chevrolet loaded-up the Z-16 with a grip of options -- then stuck the whole shebang with a 'one-wheel-peel'. I'm surprised that Yenko et al. didn't order a batch of 300 Coupes with either the 375hp or --as in this instance-- the 425hp 396. Heck , even Chevrolet should've slid a few of the base coupes into the batch ! After all , these cars were destined for the 'quarter mile wars'.
  21. I saw this beauty earlier today (see link). I can't get over it ! 1965 Malibu 300 Deluxe Coupe with a COPO 425hp 396 (Corvette engine) ! https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=169745&fbclid=IwAR1gLJx96Btrm8KAR8Dcc-FZBpJ8PT9VNL8OHd0S5oGpi3Fja_h-KGAJq
  22. Much of the film's dialogue follows the book's dialogue almost verbatim in many instances. Here's where the "Three-eighty-three hemi" faux pas originates from (see image) .
  23. Looks quite lovely , Tim. That 'DLO' material colour : was that the original acetate included or is that from office folders ? Too bad about the crummy wheels in the recent iteration of the kit (and virtually every Revell kit from c.1973 - c.1982) . Those chromed steelies look much better that're on yours. Likely changed during the c.1973 updates. Chris ( HPI Guy ) did a nice job on his copy. I was surprised that he didn't balke about the bonnet nor the chassis & suspension . Additionally ; the parts look clean (if not a little long in the tooth from ad infinitum issues) and free-from flash and warping.
  24. Most of us are familiar with the (excellent) Neo Noir Crime film The Friends of Eddie Coyle (1973) , but how many have you have read the 1970 novel it's based upon? I purchased a copy (c.2010 edition) from eBay ; should be here within a week. I would love to build a 1/25 scale replica of Jackie Brown's 1971 Road Runner ( "383 Hemi" , indeed ) . The most difficult part would be creating the standard bench seat interior of the 1:1 ; everything else would be a cinch ( V1X top , standard bonnet , etc. ).
  25. At least three exhaust options would be great : 1.) Standard 2.) Chambered 3.) Side Pipes I'd like to see Revell make a Mark IV ( 396 , ad seq. ) with a TH-400. Additionally ; if they're going to include the A.I.R. Pump , they should also include the plumbing for it. That *and* a non-A.I.R. Pump belt & pulley setup as an option.
