  1. I've always used the "Big-n-Little" tyres from the 1970 Chevelle SS-454 kit from Monogram on my builds of the 1970 Challenger T/A . While they're definitely not factory correct by any stretch , they do give the proper stance .
  2. EV2 Hemi Orange (Dodge) / Tor-Red (Plymouth) was metallic only when it was a body paint ; the engine colour (and there are 2 distinct Hemi Orange shades : Street Hemi and Race Hemi , ) being non-metallic . Race hemi Orange is more orange than red.
  3. WOW !! That's one awesome looking JH23J0B ! Good call on correcting the front fascia . The overspray on the exhaust manifolds and bellhousing is righteous !
  4. Time Machine Resins 1973 Charger SE looks like a nice piece . Their 'gallery' exhibits a built version , and it looks stunning !
  5. Thanks for the link , MartinFan . Is it just me or do the instructions call for installing the windscreen and backlight from the outside of the body ? Looks like a winner either way !
  6. Thanks for the link , Casey . Looks like a winner ! The dual carb intake , headers , traction bars , etc. , etc. , are nice additions . My only prima fascie "complaint" is that the dreaded A.I.R. Pump looks as though it's still on the accessories' drive . Okay for an L72 transplant , but a no go for a modified 427 .
  7. That's what I was trying to say ! Ha ha ha . Ostentatiously-vague , post-nap reply from me .
  8. Has any-one built theirs as a customised version using the kit's custom parts ?
  9. Still better than having them open and having to fill them with putty , etc. , than having them flashed-over and only needing to be opened for locating pins .
  10. There was an "Economy" trim level , too . I've seen exactly 2 in all my salvage yard travels ; one was a 2 door , the other a wagon . These were absolute bare-bones models ; rubber mats , park bench seats , no amenities ! The V.I.N.'s 2nd character is an "E" , as in "Economy" ( e.g. , "PE45D51" ) . I don't recall whether or not the 2 door that I saw had a back seat ; perhaps that was an option ?
  11. My uncle is a retired L.A.S.D. Deputy (1962-1984) . His first post was at the East L.A. Station ; that's when LASD and LAPD had jurisdiction over local freeways / expressways . The pursuit vehicle was a 426 Wedge powered Belvedere 2 door ( "Scary quick and fast ... just don't ask the car stop stop again after a 100 mph stop !" ) that was used on the Long Beach Freeway (which was incomplete at the time , terminating south of US 101 Santa Ana Freeway) . Not sure how many 4 door models that the Sheriff's Dept employed in the 60's . Apparently most of them were 225 sixes with 3-speed manual on the column , with some 273 / Torqueflite models .
  12. This is as close to the flat bonnet as you're going to get ; the 1972-1974 "PowerBulge" model (correct for non Ramcharger-equipped models) : http://www.hartspartsresin.com/resin-parts-list/amt I've bought and used a few of Harts' resin parts and can attest to their quality .
  13. The first brand new car that left an indelible mark on me was a 1974 Dart Sport 360 Hang 10 ! It was on display on the showroom floor of the local Dodge dealer in Spring 1974 . I was but 4 years old at the time , and that car's outrageous looks grabbed my attention ; the "hangers" with all of the "Hang 10" splashes ; the surfboards peeking-out of the open trunk ; and that wild blue engine with its bright orange air cleaner ! WOW ! I , too , have embraced the esoteric , underdog appeal of the MoPars . I totally geeked over the numbers and codes and engine combos ... especially the much-scoffed-at 1972 & later models .
  14. Being a visually-creative person , I was constantly checking out the design features of different cars throughout my youth (born in 1970) , and as I got older , I was attracted to pickups and Muscle Cars . Seeing that my parents' car was a 1969 Dart Custom 2-door , I was almost certain to favour MoPars . The base hubcaps of that car looked so neat to me ! I was enamoured with them ; the finned-recesses with satin black paint ; the recessed circle with red paint ; and the "Fratzog" [sp?] in the centre of the 'cap . The AM "Thumbwheel" radio was fascinating , too . So unconventinal in its function ! A neighbour the next street up had a '68 Hemi Dart which he ran at Irwindale . I recall being about 4 years old when he fired that beast up ! Scared the "S" out of me ! Traditional Lowriders impressed me greatly . Where I grew up there were lots of sweet Trad lowriders ; candy paintjobs , Cragar S/S wheels , organ pipe speakers , etc. etc. Just absolute visual delights 1 GM's A bodies of '66/'67 , and '68-'72 were common in town , so I always loved them , their style . Ford's F-Series was another , especially the '67-'79 . I loved the hubcaps' designs ; that crown in the centre was the coolest thing ever ! Long story short : I enjoy vehicles of all makes and models .
  15. While I agree with the sentiment that a disproportionate amount of travellers view tractor-traillers and their operators as "menacing" and "an obstruction" , I must state that Duel is based heavily upon a true story . Apparently , Richard Matheson was travelling some-where in a desolate place when a tractor-trailler and its operator chased Matheson in his vehicle . It's alleged that this happened on / around the day / date that John F Kennedy was assassinated ; that helped bolster the strange vibes of the event .
  16. BUMP ! Still awaiting for some-one to post photos of the gold version ...
  17. I can't wait for the Cutlass / 442 !
  18. Only the "426-S" , a 365hp 426 Wedge . It was , in es , a stopgap between the 325hp 383 and the pending 440 of 1966 ( 360-370 hp ) .
  19. Here's a recycling programme that's worth its salt : Never mind ; link doesn't work ...
  20. 1967 Dart GT+S : Both transmissions ( 4-speed and Torqueflite ) , and period-correct performance parts ( headers , intake , tyres , wheels , etc. ) . 1970 Swinger 340 : All three transmission choices (standard 3-speed , optional 4-speed , optional Torqueflite) ; Six Pack or single 4 Bbl options ; four wheel choices ( steelies with hubcaps or deluxe wheel covers , Rallye wheels , period correct "mags" such as Motor Wheels Spyders ) . 1970-1972 El Camino / 1971-1972 GMC Sprint : In theory one kit could contain all years' parts . Engine choices would be either the 350 (with induction options) or the Mark IV (including GMC-exclusive "Invader" air cleaner decal). 4-speed or TH-400 ; optional console / floor shift ; flat hood and cowl hood , in addition to an L-88 hood . Period-correct add-ons (wheels , tyres , etc.) . 1970 Ranchero GT : The "385-Series" tooling already exists in the Revell Torino GT ; add both Windsor and "335-Series" (Cleveland) options . 4-speed , C6 , and FMX options ; and of course a full compliment of era-specific add-ons . 1974 Camaro Type LT : Stock small block and transmission options , and the option to build the last Nickey car ! Renault R5 Turbo : Street-stock format
  21. Has any-one purchased the gold-coloured version ? If so , would you please share some photos ? Thanks .
  22. Rastislav , I absolutely love your creation ! That blue colour is perfect ! Your detailling work is incredible ; that takes rock-steady hands to accomplish ! Where-ever did you source those Firestone tyres ?
  23. (213) UNderhill-93661 . 9128 E. Telegraph is at Downey's northern border ; across the street is the city of ( Pico ) Rivera . I could swear that Bert's Hobbies was still in business at that location as of 1980 ...
  24. wow ! That is a gorgeous Charger , Ludwig ~! I really like the colour scheme ; silver with white interior is how I have envisioned the way I would have ordered one in 1967 (except that I would have elected for the red 'accents' versus black) . And those wheels ! Cragar S/S were --and still very much are-- popular wheels here in the U.S. ; and your choice of redline tyres is perfect !
  25. From the IMDB page : "With its original runtime of 74 minutes, the TV movie was not long enough to be released in theaters. Universal called Spielberg back to shoot additional scenes in order to make it a 90-minute film. These new scenes were the railroad crossing, the school bus, the scene where David phones his wife and the opening scene where the car backs out of the garage and drives through the city." I stand corrected
