  1. A Transkit would work for a 1970 Duster : - 1970 grille (the Sharktooth grille was 1971-1972 only) - 1970 upholstery - Carter AVS carburetor - 1970-only stripes However , an all-new plastic kit would be the best bet ( Moebius ? Revell ? )
  2. If the cap is removable , he may as well be certain to make it a correct , assembly line cap ( ) . In 1970 the SAE standard for brake fluid was J1703 , and the caps were stamped as such . Prior to that it was SAE-70 R3. The now-common "SAE DOT 3" stamped caps didn't come along until c.1975 . and not one of the replacement pieces
  3. Yes , and I believe that 1975 was the first year (even though the Matador's first year was 1971) . 1975 1976
  4. Thank you Tye Hippy Dude Brown !
  5. Perhaps my myopic self is missing some-thing ----did Round2 organise a list of their 2015 offerings ?? I recognise that Casey posted some reviews / contents of individual offerings from R-2 in this Car Kit News & Reviews section , but I am yet to see a comprehensive list of the 2015 kits . Round2 hasn't even updated their (wonderful) site yet ; still showcasing 2008-2014 kits only ... Please direct me to a list of R-2's proposals . Merci
  6. 1975 Monza ( "H-Special" platform of the Vega ) . Original-issue blue / gold California licence plates ( "M"-series ; M=1975 ) . Don't know what's under its bonnet ; could be an Iron Duke , or a 3.8 litre Chevrolet , or a 262 V8 ; I have no idea ...
  7. Yuri- That is the finest example of a Matador that I can recall ever seeing !!! The colour combination just screams "1976 !!" The 304 / 343 / 360 AMC V8 and its Torque-Command-8 transmission are spot-on , too !! I have the 1975 and 1976 Matador annual kits in my stash ; thanks for the inspiration !
  8. Round2 still has it on their website , albeit under the 2008 Models section . Is this kit discontinued "already" ( yes , I realise that it's now 7 years later ... ) ?? http://www.round2models.com/models/amt/60ford-starliner
  9. I can attest to B-N-L's parts . I bought a couple of TH-400 transmissions , and they're great !
  10. That's dedication ! That's akin to listening ,uninterrupted, to all 17:30 minutes of Sister Ray !
  11. I acquired a fabulous paper cut (e.g. , slid my left index finger across a fold-over edge of a box with a brake line in it) yesterday , and , of course , it stung like mad (especially after washing my hands with pumice hand cleaner !) . There was some of the typical bleeding, but that curtailled after I irrigated the cut . I squeezed a dab of Zap-Z cyanoacrylate on the cut ; the wound responded with a burning sendation for a minute ; cut is completely healed-over today
  12. I'm wondring how many of you collect and-or wear vintage clothing ; and , what era(s) is / are your preference(s). For me , I've long loved the 1960's Mod fashion . To wit ; I've been trolling eBay , etc. , for a pair of Renauld Sea & Ski Spectaculars , the first wrap-around sunglasses (from c.1964) : http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960-RENAULD-Aviator-Sea-Ski-Sunglasses-Smoke-And-Silver-Mid-Century-Mod-/261736929614?pt=US_Sunglasses&hash=item3cf0bc994e I had a pair in the mid-90's , but they were stolen at a party in 1996 ( ) . I was inspired to find a pair after seeing one of my favourite musicians ( Holmes Sterling Morrison , Jr. ) wearing them (far-left in this photo from 1966) :
  13. Nice finish on that aluminum 215 V8 !
  14. What's been so heavily-butchered with the D / W 100-200 Dodge Truck that makes its tooling so unworkable ? I remember that its hood was butchered ; however , was its bed "fiddled-with" too ? Can't the Little Red Express be employed for its parts , even if its only contributions are its hood and chassis ?
  15. I remember the following "scare" tactics from back in 1987 : 1.) Mustang going to a front wheel drive platform 2.) Front-wheel-drive F-Series Well , the proposed wrong-wheel-drive "Mustang" became the Probe , a Mazda venture yawn fest . The alleged wrong-wheel-drive F-Series ? Never materialised . The V8 survived the Automotive Dark Ages Part 1 ( 1974 - 1979 model years ) , and it will continue to thrive ! As far as the (colloquial) term "Muscle Car" : a term-of-endearment that was bourne-out of the "Supercar" nomenclature (e.g. , mid-sized sedan / coupe / hardtop with a big V8) . The Mustang is a "Pony Car" ( same goes for Camaro , Cougar , Challenger , Barracuda , Firebird ) ; compact cars with fierce V8's were / are "Junior Supercars" ( Nova , Dart , '64-'69 Barracuda , Demon , Duster , etc. , etc. ). You can have your EcoBoost tomfoolery and other stringent C.A.F.E. standards excrement ...
  16. Very nice '5 ! Is that an odd-fire 225 Dauntless V6 under the bonnet ?
  17. In No Order of favour : 1.) 1971 Charger Super Bee ( 440 Six Pack ; column-mounted Torqueflite ; Super Performance Axle Package [4.10 Dana , power disc brakes , H.D. cooling] ; W11 Deluxe Wheel Covers ; backlite defogger ; power windows ; AM/FM stereo w/ cassette / recorder / microphone ; stripe-delete ; Ramcharger hood ; hood pins ; Stratovent; Houndstooth upholstery ; GY3 Citron Yella ) 2,) 1971 Swinger Special 340 (Canadian-only model ; "LL23H" v.i.n ; column-mount Torqueflite ; 3.55 gear ; disc brakes ; W11 wheel covers ; backlite defogger ; AM radio ; GB5 blue with base black interior ) 3.) 1972 Baldwin-Motion Chevelle Phase III 4.) 1969 Boss 429 5.) 1973 Super Duty Formula Firebird 6.) 1971 Motion 454 Vega 7.) 1973 Duster 340 ( base interior ; column-shift Torqueflite ; 3.55 gear ; AM/FM radio ; backlite defogger ; sunroof ; stripe-delete ; medium gold metallic with white vinyl top ) 8.) 1971 GMC Sprint SP-1 9.) 1974 Dodge Monaco "A38" ( 440 Magnum ; backlite defogger ; A/C ; right and left Unity spotlights ; medium green metallic ) 10.) 1976 Duster ( 360 ; 3.21 gear ; "Silver Duster" package ; AM/FM radio ; deluxe wheel covers )
  18. Definitely 8 3/4 ; the Dana 60 didn't appear in factory-built cars until the 1966 model year ( Hemi with 4 speed ; optional with Torqueflite Super Performance Axle Package ) , then in 1967 models (440 Magnum / Super Commando with 4 speed ; again optional with Torqueflite ). The only car to come with the Dana 60 as standard equipment was the 1969 1/2 440 Six Pack / 6 Bbl , Super Bee / Road Runner ; it had 4.10 gear ; Sure Grip (colloq. , "Posi-Traction" , which is a G.M. name ) was standard with the Dana 60 (3.54 gear [ 4-speed standard diff only] , 4.10 optional [Torqueflite or 4-speed] ). Many racers swapped-out the 8 3/4 for the Dana 60 ; not sure if this was acceptable in Stock classes for vehicles built prior to 1966...
  19. Every time I hear Neil Diamond's "Love on the Rocks " ( Jazz Singer soundtrack ) , I still "hear" the track-change !
  20. I'm sure that the following isn't a new idea ; how about offering two levels of detail for the same kit ? To wit ; a "regular" 1967 Camaro SS (e.g. , the one that's currently available) , and a "premium" version (i.e. , adhesive transfers -or- photoetch , and perhaps more / exclusive options) .
  21. When I was around 3 or 4 years old (1974) , I remember seeing what appeared to be a life-sized car ---in kit-form--- on the top shelf at the local department store . I was mesmerised ! I thought , I can build that and drive it around afterward ?!? My rationale was , If those are adults next to the car [ on the box art ] , then I can fit inside and drive it [because I'm smaller than they are] ! Revell's 1970's offerings were a trap ! I knew that the kit was impossible to build , but I'd hoped with each successive attempt ... !
  22. The Golden Wheels programme ran through '85 or '86 . When AMT / Ertl purchased MPC , two things happened : - Golden Wheels programme cancelled . The allocated space on the box top's side was repurposed with some Ertl-specific "letterbox" - The MPC nomenclature had an "ERTL" added to its banner I got a number of kit through the Golden Wheels programme ; to name a couple : - 1983 Toyota Supra - 1984 Corvette - Fall Guy GMC pickup - 1985 Camaro annual Thanks for the trip down memory lane (or , in my case , "Midlife Crisis Lane" )
  23. That's exactly what I do . For open sores : Neosporin [sp?] or Vaseline . Dry , itchy skin : Gold Bond Foot Cream . Why specifically "foot" cream ? It absorbs quicker , and there's no greasy coating left behind .
