Ooh, I came back and it let me see it this time. Man, this is ugly. I would definitely say 88 Buick Skyhawk is the front end they were aiming for. I gotta admit though, shorten the front end, do away with the fat fender wheels in the front, and fix the front of the door and the door window and it wouldn't look half bad. And if I could see those seats better, I would swear it is a Fiero.

From the way you all are talking, I can't wait to get off this job and onto my other one so, I can see this thing. Most pictures don't show up on this "virtual network".

So what are you styrene cutting tools
Skydime replied to greymack's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I use all kinds of things. Xacto knife, Xacto saw, individual razor blades, scissors, fingernail clips (cause I don't have a sprue cutter) and for rough cuts that I need to make and trim in later, I actually do use a dremel. I just don't cut so close to where I need to be because of that melting factor. Although I have been known to cut out 90% of the back of a grille with it as well. -
I appreciate the concern but, it's a matter I don't like to talk about too much. I will tell you it is my home office. A computer monitor and couple older cell phones got done the same way in the mix. I just figured I needed to share a few encouraging words here from my personal experience. Hopefully the concerned responses will help show Kenn how much we really care on here.

Im not a big 'Stang fan but, I like this one Carl. And it's refreshing to see one aside from Eleanor in gray. Nice work!

Found this at Home Depot today

Maybe he mistook someone that told him his lug bolt spacing was 51/4. "You need to get some of those spinning discs on there. I think yours is 5 1/4 pattern." And in that case, floppy disks wouldn't be his worst problem. -

Yeah, he could have purchased wood for a speaker box, primer for the body, mesh for the grille, rubber trim for a lip, toggle switches for accessories, pretty much anything but all those toys. -
Bagged, seriously? Now that's just wrong on this thing. And that is why I like it so much. Cool build... can't believe I hadn't seen this before now. Keep up the great work!

Kenn, I just wanted to let you know that I have been in a similar situation. I had someone come into my office and smash every single model car I had...not once, but twice! I lost about a total of 50-60 cars from all that. I wanted Harry and Gregg to just cancel my membership to the forum because didn't even want to think about building models anymore because of what I thought would happen to them. Gregg and Harry were both good enough to give me that light kick in the butt I needed to continue. I am still greatful for that. Don't let things discourage you. Believe it or not, a lot of us look at tons of builds and just don't comment. It's not necessarily because we have nothing good to say or that we think someone does bad work. Sometimes we just aren't in a posting mood. That's not your fault and there is nothing that you have done wrong for that to happen. Heck, I think I maybe got 8 or 9 comments on my first under glass. But, when I see a tons more have viewed it, that's still encouraging for me. So, do what you do, don't worry about neh sayers, and just take any comments and criticisms as an attempt to help or with a grain of salt...which ever keeps you going. And one final comment here. Don't ever get caught up in a drama thread. I have only took a stance on one dramatic thread the entire time I have been here. And that's just because the OP CLEARLY got flamed for an innocent comment and link to an article. The truth be known, unless I am referring to something they said, or I have a personal standout in my mind of someone, I hardly even notice most names when I post. For all I know, I could have told two people that absolutely cannot stand each other that I have liked one of their builds. I don't stand on both sides of the fence, I just don't care about the fence.

What I want to know is, A) How many hits they get on that website printed on the car, just from seeing it. How many of the previous readers of this thread actually went there too? EDIT Oh and C) Does this poor Honda not know it will never be a Volkswagen? -
It's cool that Revell is giving us a little variety with these cars. I just wish someone would make accurate kits of some of his post Boyd Coddington stuff that was not from Overhaulin'. And I am talking right down to the bone brand new kits. Some of the things I see Foose's name on are getting a little ridiculous. You can go get a Foose badge for your car from Walmart now. Somehow that shiny new set of rims that set a person back a couple thousand just for the Foose name don't look so good next to a beat down and rusted 83 toyota with a Foose badge in the back window. I'm not paying any disrespect to anyone's vehicle...might be all they can afford. But you guys get the idea here.

1/25 Revell "Goodguys" '37 Ford Coupe Street Rod
Skydime replied to pettiner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It may have gotten lost in the full description but, Randy stated "This kit does still have the VERY nice big-'n-little Cragars and tires the earlier version (yellow car on box) had." I hope this helps. -
nice cuda. When taking pics with an ipad, iphone, or ipod, make sure the home button is to your right.

Mini Truckin'...that's about it. I used to read Truckin' until it got to be about $60,000 work trucks with $60,000 more in custom work.

99 Silverado
Skydime replied to Skydime's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
UPDATE Not much progress made to the Silverado. Been working a lot and had to take my little girl to the doctor today. I managed to get the windshield trim painted along with tinting the rest of the windows. I will post pictures once I get the windshield black line edged the way I want and get the tape residue cleaned off of it. I am trying to figure out what I want to do with the exhaust and the roll pan. I hate the stupid exhaust tips that come pre-attached. They look nowhere near real. I am thinking of either running it together over one frame rail and coming out just in front of the passenger side rear wheel or just running the mufflers forward of the rear wheels and leaving just a little tip coming out of them. I just cut the exhaust pipe right behind the muffler on my 1:1 S10. No matter what I do, I am pretty sure I am ditching those tips and filling the holes in the roll pan. I already tossed the chrome rear bumper so, using it is out of the question. -
I don't kill 'em. I just suck 'em up in the vaccum cleaner. They die just fine on their own in there.

An end of an era
Skydime replied to Madd Trucker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I remember recently seeing that as a Yahoo headline but, don't have the URL. I was unaware of the current production as many others. Although, it comes as no surprise considering the Mexican production of the "old school" Beetle just ended a few years ago. I just can't believe Volkswagen would allow continued production outside of the original German quality guidelines. I see complaints everywhere about the quality of the Beetles from Mexico and non German parts. Now, I am not saying people in other countries did a bad job producing the products. I am just saying that my research indicates inferiority of materials used to make them. -
Sharp ride! Are those the Boyd Whittiers from the Chezoom kit? I had something very similar on my 1:1 87 S10.

I have to say that, after using this for a week, I am starting to get really annoyed at the fact that everything is so stinking bright white. Although I like most changes, I am sure Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave.

EH, well, let's just say they have adapters. I didn't have anything 6 lug on hand. -
Cool, glad we got that one cleared up. I agree, we truely will never have a perfect hobby shop. Everyone has different needs.

Thanks. Good thing I posted that frame shot. I just noticed the brake rotors need a black wash. Next update, I'll make sure I have some white paper on hand for some better pictures. I work at home on both my jobs and I am semi teethered to a headset right now. So, I couldn't exactly go into my wife's office and get some printer paper.
