  1. thanks shane. i hope to get better at it as there are more of these to come.
  2. 4/24: well, i did this late last night/early this morning..lols after 1 1/2 hour of masking i said what the hell, ill slap the paint on there..lols it was 3am when i finished up, so i didnt take some pics of it. i asked my wife to take a couple of pics and this was the best one of three. so dont mind the clutter. i need to adjust her camera on her phone..lols. ill snap some pics later today. Teaser 4/25 ok, so after i put my son to sleep i well, knocked out as well...lols once again i asked the wife to snap some pics. not bad this time around. so here it is, Undressed. its far, far from perfect, but its my first time doing this type of paint job. im actually happy with the outcome. next up are some decals.
  3. here are my 2cents. its not dying, i think it will grow even more and to be honest with you it does have to do with the "social" site facebook. facebook is more than socializing, it's free advertisment as well. didn't MCM just do that?? also, if it was dying, why would there be releases, re-releases or heck newly tooled kits coming out?? heres another one for ya. a friend of mine opened up a page on facebook called "Model Scientists Corp", mostly guys and some gals that build imports go on there, but of course thats all what it's about. its about model cars of all types. now a couple of months ago he opened up his own forum and man, there are hundreds of builders coming out of the woodworks. some that were/are already building or want to start building model cars. so with that said, NO it's not dying, it's growing sure it's not like it was back in the days, but it will continue to grow.
  4. yeah, i saw it in the issue too. i was like "what the bicuits!" i love the way it looks.
  5. haha, to me it is..lols came out fantastic. the interior is my favorite part of this one.
  6. this one is the aoshima grand champ series first run. i keep forgetting to take a pic of the box art..lols no matter which japanese brand you buy, they will be "motorized" chassis, even the tamiya one. fujimis high machanism has some better details, but still on a motorized chassis. the one that has some fairly good details and even has an engine is the MPC kit, but hard to find.
  7. came out great. its totally different than any other miata out there. it look beefy with the cage, spitter and wheels.
  8. aah, fantastic! love it man, it just has sooo much well character..
  9. thanks shane, jack and john. ok, so here is some paint progress. after some primer, i shot it with some tamiya bright white. then i masked off the body for pattern "phase 1". sorry about the size of these 2 pics, they were taken with my phone. its the first time i have done patterns on any kind of build so its not perfect, but its not finished either. in a couple days ill mask it off for "phase 2" other than that, i have several parts getting ready for primer and paint.
  10. i have followed this one since the beginning and all i have to say is wow. i love it man, looking forward to the tons of pics.
  11. nice work so far. im digging the imagineering you have going on. keep it up.
  12. that suck bro. i would look in the least expected place that you would find it. like under the table legs, behind the work bench in a space that you didnt see before...ect. good luck.
  13. lots of great info. i was thinking of buying a new booth for spraying aerosol paints as the one i have is not meant for it. also, i was wondering if anyone here has made a booth for a spray booth?? meaning a designated small room or area that is sealed for painting, like the 1:1's do.
  14. looks pretty cool. i like the wheels and with that roll cage, it might have that 302..lols
  15. hey guys. heres the small update of the front bumper. i added some styrene stripes to lower the angle of the lip.
  16. very nice 4 link set up. keep up the great work, it's just insane bro.
  17. haha, i just saw this movie last week or so... it's got some bad axx looking cars and one sweet looking chica..mm mmm..lols you did a fantastic job on this one. great attention to details and the paint is dead on.
  18. wow, thats a sweet looking Impala. i like the colors on it and that engine looks pretty darn good too.
  19. ok, so along with my celica and impala i have this going on as well. im trying to get these 3 done for the citrus nationals in may. a bit over a month of time...will it happen?? dunno...lols but im gonna try my best. the style here is Stance. lowered, cambered and just simple clean form and function. I love the way big 4 door sedans look dropped on some deep offset wheels so i went with Aoshima's D1 series Weld MarkII, a fairly disappointing kit if your looking to do a replica of the actual Weld D1 contendor. there is no drift style interior, the ride hieght sucks and the bumpers are ill fitting. heck, even the exhaust system sucks...it's gonna take some effort, but im always up for a challenge. I put the bumpers on and put some putty to fill some of the gaps and get the proper bumper seams. you can see that it still needs a bit of work. then i added some styrene stripes to the sideskirt to give it more ommff. their a bit soft rounded out of the box. i want something a bit edgier. in the first pics you'll see some white wheels, these are resin work miester wheels, but unfortuntely they need more cleaning than what i want to deal with. so i opted for some aoshima gartmier wheels with some extra lip and the tires from the work wheels. i didnt take a pic of the suspension work or the bumper work i did last night. so here are what i have so far, more later tonight.
  20. thats a good looking thunderbird. looking forward to more.
  21. thanks felix. blue is just one of the many colors i enjoy to look at. this is testors one coat de ja blue straight from the can.
  22. ok before the rain came along to ruin what was a beautiful week here in cali. i grabbed this guy and wetsanded the specs that landed on it. then shot it again with the blue and shortly after that i slapped it with like 4 solid coats of clear. i tried to get good pics of the shine and the color. it's a dark color, but it shines nicely under the sun which i hope comes back soon. heres what it should look like with the wheels mounted. next is the hood. being that i put that putty some 10 years ago, its taken its toll and cracks when flexed a bit. i tried to fix it with some CA glue, so hopefully it holds and i can get it primed and painted.
  23. uh oh, i think we have the first of the painting progress... of course it's got some specs in it, so some light sanding will have to do.
  24. thats really cool. the casted piece came out pretty clean too.
